    Thanks for the great info on overcoming different amounts of latency.

    Your timing with Allen & Heath videos could not be better. We just had an SQ6 installed at our church. Would like to see some options for running FOH and stream from the same console. Our stream is running through a matrix that is a copy of our main mix. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

      Soooo... the linked video is using an X32 but the concept is basically the same. I’d create a post-fade mix and adjust a few key items as discussed in that video. One thing you cannot do is use a built in brick wall limiter on the SQ since that doesn’t yet exist.
      If you happen to be streaming via OBS, there’s a surprisingly decent limiter built into that. I can send you a video on that too, if you’d like :)

    Great video. I’m actually just getting to a point of doing an FX virtual rack via Live Professor on my 16”MBP 8 core i9 with 32GB ram. Running a SQ-5 for broadcast currently using on-board fx.
    I had a question about your Dante routing for inputs. Clarifying what I’m hearing around 5 minute mark through 9:20ish. You’re routing all inputs from FOH SQ to Waves Super Rack then to Broadcast SQ-7?
    I currently have Dante routing 48 inputs from SQ-6 (FOH) > SQ-5 (Broadcast) > MBP16 (Multitrack record with Logic for post mix/mastering).
    I can pick up inputs in Live Professor with the above routing, but If I’m understanding your explanation in video, I can set outs for fx chain(s) in Live Professor (or Waves Super Rack in your case) to Dante 49 and above (beyond scope of SQ-5 48 inputs) and set those as inserts on groups or individual Inputs on SQ-5?
    How would I then control the wet/dry mix so to speak?Find an open input on SQ-5 and map IO for virtual rack Dante channel to an open SQ-5 input?
    Still in planning stage at this point for most effective workflow. Thanks in advance for your input.

      Hey Marc! First off, please tell me how you go with Live Professor on a Mac. I tried it once with horrific results. I get the sense that it's made to function better on a PC but let me know if you experience the same or not.
      Basically, your synopsis is correct however it sounds like you're planning to use LP for time based effects like reverb and delay. I'm not doing that. I'm using reverb and delay from the SQ. The groups are more for bus processing, specifically for the drum bus. I'm also grouping everything else for 2 reasons. One, it guarantees that all my audio lines up with the drums. Two, if I do decide to process the other instruments, I have the ability to do so. I hope that clears things up.
      Let me know how you go on LP!

      @@AWTechTuesday First, it's been nearly a year since I have read your reply. lol. Sorry about that. I abandoned the effort I was originally going for. Instead, I just plugged in Mac via USB and did insert on LR from LP. Only ended up doing modest processing API2500, Gullfoss Realtime, and WLM for seeing where I was at for LUFS to make sure streaming service wasn't going to do too much limiting on the stream loudness.
      Thanks for the response!

    HI. If you don't have the Dante card can you use the USB port directly with the PC to use Waves Rack? would there be any problems?

      @@tony8236 when it comes to the drums, you want to do all of them or none of them. If you do just kick the time alignment will be off for the rest of the kit and may cause phase issues or make things sound off rhythmically.

    How do you route your output for mastering does it go straight to dante via?

    • @AWTechTuesday

      Good question. The master bus has an insert on it. The insert is sending the signal back and forth over Dante to the Waves computer.

      @@BarnabY07 Ahhhh. It automatically takes the on the color of the associated channel. I usually use the soft encoders for the FX Return channels. I think the only other soft buttons I have going on are a button for DCA Spill and maybe a solo clear. Those colors are decided by Allen & Heath depending on the function, as far as I’m aware.

    Any particular reason you are ganging the stereo channels instead of just making them stereo?

    • @AWTechTuesday
      @AWTechTuesday  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. Yes. If, for some reason you need to swap in and out of being in stereo, it can be a bit cumbersome on the SQ. Stereo channels have to be side by side and starting on an odd number (not unusual) but it can be funny with things like ME-1 assignments and strip assignments. This can be a pain if you decided that you needed to break up a stereo channel. For example, if you had a stereo keyboard but for one day needed to break it into 2 mono keyboards.
      With the exception of linked gain, I don’t see any benefit to making 2 channels stereo instead of ganging 2 channels.
      Excellent question. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Chad, go with Wing or the SQ7??

    • @AWTechTuesday
      @AWTechTuesday  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dang man. That’s tough. As of this moment, I’m leaning towards the Wing. Sounds great, you get all the plugins for free rather than as plug-in add-ons, and the rest of the ecosystem is so affordable.
      But it’s close. I really like the routing options of the A&H gear. Also, they’re definitely built solid. I may be tempted to compare the Wing with the Avantis. That would be the next level. I love the dLive and the Avantis seems like a mini dLive :)
