Great Rig, Dylan! Thank you for showing your setup. Please, make more videos!
Both your videos are really helpful and informative, thank you. I would love if you could do a video where you dive deeper in the specific gear, connections and how you make it all work together in the mixer
I would love if someone would record me doing that too :)
I find it hard to get the motivation so shoot & edit these types of videos, but I do like talking about it :)
I met you long time ago in Australia,
Great video, What brand and model did you use as your touch screen monito?
It impresses me how both inserted technologies coexist and even with the difference in conversions and protocols the latency in real time is still manageable. Do you also monitor mixes from it with that inserts (waves & uad) or only FOH?
Nah I keep Mon mixes from the D-Live only, containing no inserts.
96khz keeps processing speed nice and fast!
I want to 3d print a small support/stabilising beam for the back of the waves plugin monitor😉 #wear and tear anxiety
This is crazy! I'm really into this Qlab automations - will try it out on my SQ5 also! Are you still using SQ or went on dLive?
I’ve been using D-Live since 2017 and is my console of choice. SQ is a great small format alternative.
The unfortunate this about the SQ is that the scene functionality isn’t full-featured (not that you’d expect it at that price point), but you can still definitely control functions via Midi!
@@dylanmaudio Thanks! Will try it out - at least what I have heard, SQ is the best choice out there, if we are talking about the price (1 on 1 patching, clear preamps, runs on 96khz and so on). Hoping to see more content from you - really interesteing to watch and see how you work!
Would love to do more content, but I hate editing my own voice hahah
That's okay, we hate it also! Okay just kidding! 😀 Sub added!
Wow, cool rig!!!! What kind of touch monitor is used:? What computer is used for waves super rack:?
I’m running a Mac Mini 2014 in the rack. Unfortunately UAD LiveRack only runs on High Sierra (💀) so that’s about as up-to-date as it gets 🤷♂️
The touch screen is just a cheap little USB-C 15”. Used with the touch-base driver for Mac.
Cool setup - again ! Dylan, why using the UAD live rack instead of live professor 2 ? Advantages/disadvantages ?
Advantages are that it is rock solid with minimal configuration and computer strain. Less flexibility than LP though.
very nice rig ! you are using the dlive just for control surface? do use any of the dlive processing plugins?
I utilise lots of the console processing! All of the channels use the console EQ and gates and sometimes comps. Dyn8 is also a game-changer for me, and is heavily integrated into the mix.
My UAD processing is just over subgroups and master bus, and Waves is just used for main vocal.
@@dylanmaudio thanks for sharing Dylan, i also do foh for the romanian band Dirty Shirt, we are about the get a dm48 but with touch screens instead of a phisical controler, hope to get a c1500 next year , component shortage :) .
Hey Dylan! What would be your recommendation for a personal, budget rig for a vocalist of the same genre? Something for cleans & screams to move. maybe something around $1000-2000
For live? Invest in a good sound person who can make you sound great anywhere.
Just a little suggestion. DualLock tape work way better than regular velcro. You can use it basically forevere and hold things very solidly.
Thats why I use it so much, I should pretty much own shares :)
Nice video, what touchscreen are you using ??
And how did you secure it to the console ?
The brand is Innocn. They are discontinued.
Using Dual-Lock to clip it onto the console.
Do you have to use an old version of the OS on your Mac, not newer than Catalina, to use UAD Liverack?
Yeah - High Sierra is the only OS! I'm running a 2012 Mac mini.
is that just a touch screen monitor on the console? if so please could someone tell me which brand it is?
If I had $1 for everyone that asked me that question...
Unfortunately they are discontinued. I've managed to locate 3 of them (2 in-use now, and 1 spare), and they were VERY difficult to find. They are excellent, cheap screens.
