Last rant: a friend of ours in St Pete got a letter from her insurance company saying “ hey we are not dropping you and your homeowners policy, however, everytime a hurricane hits the state of a Florida doesn’t matter if you are impacted or not there will be a loss assessment fee of $15k everytime hurricane “ or something like that. Mind you her premium jumped from $2000 to $5500 a year. If she did not agree to those terms, she would have 30 days to find another insurance company before she was dropped. Insane!

Govment spending is like living in a 70 year old, dilapidated 50k home while spending $10+ million dollars to renovate the wealthier neighborhood across town.

Why couldn’t the couple who owed $40K after 23 years just sell their home before the bank took possession?

@@shirleymcintyre1639 okay, thanks for your reply. However, I would have tried to get a loan for the roof and get it done real quickly. New roof is a good selling point, but maybe they couldn’t qualify for a loan.

As I said previously on one of your last videos, I’ve been following your big channel since I moved to SW FL ( Tampa ) 6 yrs ago. I love that channel, just finished watching the Trout catch and cook video you just dropped. This is a different side, a more vulnerable/transparent side of you. And I love it. The world needs more of it. As a licensed insurance agent for USAA, a fortune 100 company, I can definitely sympathize with the insurance industry catastrophe especially in Florida. Yet we haven’t left Florida, Louisiana, CALI, and all the other high risk states that multitudes of insurance companies have left or become insolvent altogether. We have stood strong in the midst of this storm. But that doesn’t mean that we haven’t felt the effects from it either. My wife and I both work there…. Making a 6 figure income combined and yet we are still renters because the American dream of becoming a homeowner here in FL just seems too complicated and very far away still. We moved here from small town southern New Jersey because it was ridiculously cheap…. Is being tied to our employer and our careers here, leaving FL seems unreal as well. Plus we love and adore Florida, it has changed us drastically for the better. I am praying for Florida, I am praying for this country.

What metro area do you live? Just save up some money. Florida and to a lesser degree Texas especially Austin will crash because of oversupply of housing (oddly enough those states with Communist style regulations like California probably will not see crash because few new construction) due to new construction. God Bless!

The insurance crisis in FL is one of our biggest concerns. If we want to buy a new build, is it possible to get a realistic estimate of what the insurance will cost if we just have a street address & the house isn't built yet?

In the first place, the government doesn’t print all the money. It also borrowed most of the money, that’s why they have to pay interest on it.

Thank you for covering this. I'm a local over in 32583 area. I knew about insurance cancellations because my parents went through the whole rigamarole, but I didn't know it was being used to take homes from people. Just terrible 😕
*May I ask if maybe you would cover the rental market in our area? In May, my rent upped from $900/mo to $1250+the mandatory renter's package and pet fee for a house sold for $130,500 to a property management co in 2023.
I'll admit I'm a bit put out about it, but genuinely curious to learn more about how rentals work. 😊

Great video. I remember having this conversation with my Dad way… back in the 80s when we were only in a little debt. He explained how the government would cause hyper inflation and pay the debt for Pennies on the dollar. Meanwhile I pay 10.00 for a salad from Chick-fil-a.

There’s a lot of factors to consider. If it’s a newer home or updated home then it’s pretty easy. It’s just expensive. If it’s a house that needs a lot of work it’s difficult.

    • @whereismybinger

Yes. They are not a bank but it's FDIC insured which is good, Forbright Bank (use to be Congressional Bank) is offering 5.30.% APY on $0 initial. 5.55% APY is being offered with a $25k deposit at Flagstar Bank. I do believe someone is offering a 5.50% with a $10 initial deposit but not sure if they are FDIC.

Everyone wants to go to the circus but nobody wants to live there. Seriously, people in Japan build houses from bamboo and paper so when the earthquake hits, no big deal. Houses in Florida should be made from concrete, have no carpets, furniture should be plastic and cheap. Self-insure.

After 23 years they don't have $40k saved?
If they couldn't save money they should have sold the home, rent below their means, and save money.
They should not have bought real estate without savings backup for the down years.

The president has nothing to do with it no matter who became president. Private businesses raised prices. Not just the final retail business that sells the end product it is the trucking companies and wholesalers who needed to raise prices during and just after covid and will not lower them when things are back to normal.

Trump will at least bring back some sanity. The illegal immigration issue has decimated cities, the biological males deciding to identify as female to compete and win against girls who have worked hard all their life to compete in their sport is horrific-I cannot believe our current government supported that B.S.- we should vote on policies not the person (people die) (policies do not).
