- We kick off our build by living out every car guys fantasy - driving into a speed shop and loading up with parts. That's right, we head down to VPW and grab a whole ute load of parts for our Drag Challenge Ute Build.

I keep telling myself that one of these days, I'll buy a car that's in great shape and tell my local parts house "I'll take one of everything".... as my bank account would never support such foolishness, I'll live vicariously through you, Scottie.... love the concept.
Not sure how I feel about so much nice new stuff for Scotty and team. I quietly enjoy watching them struggle with secondhand crap. That said, this is going to be a beast.

There's still some budgetary constraints but yeah, having a ute load of good gear is a nice change.

Yeah, it's yet another LS build but I'm really keen to see you do the work, with the goal in mind from the first video and all the gear to do it from the start. You deserve the goodies! Now I understand the talk about budget in previous videos!

Must be serious, used a chain & shackles to lift the block instead of an old seatbelt.
Well it’s a LSX and not a Buick 3800
old seat belts are perfect because in good condition they are more than capable of holding the weight and won't scratch your engine.

When the engine was thrown in the back, got me thinking how cool it would be to midmount the engine in the tray! Would be way too much involved to do though hahah

I'll be really keen to see how the parts go with the torture test of drag challenge, because I've always figured the home-brand RTS and Proflow parts are built more for the budget minded customer than for someone potentially looking at running in the 7s. Testing out parts like diff centres, ignition coils and cylinder heads from RTS and Proflow will either highlight any weaknesses, or prove that they're legit competitors to the established and respected Aus and US built brands.

Go Scotty, from a kid in a candy store, to having all his Christmases come at once. Just so much cool stuff. 1000 hp at the tyres maybe a little conservative too. If the ute isn't ready on time, it will be something beyond your control. We are all anxiously waiting to see the outcome.

Looking forward to this build as a owner of multiple different holden models , no ls engines yet only the Aus v8 variants except for one that has an empty engine bay after the thong slapper went down a cylinder. When/if the budget allows a NA version of this set-up would do me .If i take my vp 5.0 ute to vpw can i just ask for the scotty special ?
