redjarman I am pretty convinced that most people don't see them. It's like solving a Rubiks Cube... People memorize the setup patterns and repeat them when available. I can't see them either but I decided to one by one go through the starting T-spin setups and it became a muscle memory. I just repeated then over and over, then I would challenge myself to look at the starting piece lineup and determine which T-spin setup was possible. I spent days doing this.. I still struggle to "see" them but I can remember the patterns for the ones I practiced
how I mentally justify it: You need to have the one block overhang to "push" the 'Mino down into the gap. When you play Big Bang Mode in Tetris form and you're doing perfect on it, the last set of clears are all Spins that use that overhang to help "force" it down. Wish it was easier to practice it than that, but eh that's the game.
Lol I started to play a lot more of Tetris 2 years ago and I still don’t know how to set up t spins I started to play puyo recently and I’m way better at chains than t spins lol
when you make a T-Spin in tetris and get really excited about it since you never make T-Spins then realize you only clear one line from it and figure out it does absolutely nothing...
My head hurts, how is this happening. The player can seemingly squish the T-Tetromino through 1-pixel gaps into an given form. Mine's just staying above the gap while rotating 360° until it locks into place.
Yeah, you gotta specifically rotate clockwise or counter clockwise, can't just spam clockwise hoping it'd make it work. And you gotta have that overhang to "force" it in. The various Wikis provide a slower explination that helps.
You can even try to Perfect Clear before the DT! Worst case scenario, you botch it up and end up using a T-Spin Double, and best case scenario, you end up rushing your opponent with a Perfect Clear, T-Double, then T-Triple, which will kill, if not heavily cripple your opponent before they can count to 10.
One set up I use works if you get J and L early. More specific J before S and L before Z. Put the J and L on their sides with the nob up and away from each other. Place I and O on the edges. Place the S on the J and the Z on the L so you see the T shape. Now make the overhang with the T then wait until the second T to come to do the T spin double.
Coming from a guy who pretty good and repeating back-to-back Tetris combos and still struggling against halfway decent Puyo players, I really hope this can help me. lol
King Crimson is a good one to get acquainted with t-spin triples, it's also a JoJo reference. It'll give you a T-spin triple along with a super T-spin double (so a triple and 2 doubles), for any one who wants something a lot easier than a DT-cannon. you should be able to find it online easily enough.
I developed a starter for an imperial cross. Once the back to back t spin is complete, a 2 wide combo string will be waiting right after. It's conditions are strict, but it is very lethal and can end a match if successful.
My mind cannot comprehend how to do this. I'm playing Puyo Puyo Tetris in single player as I am watching this, and I physically can't set up the T-spins. I have no idea how I'm trying to replicate how the tetriminos are placed, but I just don't know where to put them! I'm not a big fan of this tutorial, as it barely tells you where to place the blocks. I'm not a visual learner, so simply watching someone perform a T-spin doesn't help me at all, especially whenever the person playing is placing the tetriminos that quickly! I REALLY want to get good at doing T-spin doubles, does anyone have any other tutorials or tips that could help?
I have a tip for mid-game T-spin doubles. If you see a place where you can fit a T piece perfectly, place an O piece so that it overhangs the whole hole. Then fill the sides and wait for the T piece. Hope that helped!
I was finding it hard to understand the video, so I just paused the video, kept refreshing marathon mode until I got the same blocks as the video. Then, I would follow the pattern of it and try to understand as I'm doing the T spin. Now I'm doing T Spin doubles and triples easily and using triples when I misdrop and try to recover. Just keep refreshing marathon mode and mirror the formation if you're set with the opposite tetrominoes. I think the tutorial is really useful since it's quick and to the point, so that I can absorb more information in a shorter frame of time.
If you're looking for other tutorials, look for futurefox128 for S and Z spins, very very useful for misdrop or when you get a drought and search Chopin T Spins tutorial for a more in depth explanation. Hsing Lui for visualisation of a T Spin and Wall kicks. Happy tetris-ing!
irfanRiodile they don't get you extra points and not really useful in battle besides fixing up mistakes or getting a perfect clear so there's no real need to learn them
Well, the 'lessons' in PPT tell you, that you do infact get extra points for any sort of -spin, but the T-spin gives extra garbage and counts for the back-to-back-bonus.
I’ve been having trouble doing the t spins. I see the spot, but it doesn’t go into the shape when I try to flip when I’m at the bottom. Am I missing something?
I was able to get the setup for the t spin triple but cannot figure out how to change the t piece from right facing to facing up so it can fit into the hole. How do I do this?
I can do it in a solo game when practicing by myself, but when playing an actual Versus game, I don't have the leisure of studying the blocks, I have to move super fast. I just can't visualize T-spins that fast.
A t-spin looks cool, but how many more points does it get you? When did Tetris games start recognizing a t-spin double or triple? Not Game Boy, certainly.
I remember when vanilla Tetris was a _simple_ game... this level of play looks trickier than those old variants that relied on additions like pentominoes and special blocks to add difficulty, but this is just basic Tetris rules. What the hell, man...
And then there's all the floating Tspins, and spins inside of spins, and things that shouldn't be spins at all and leave you with a mess afterward, like the fin spin..Oops, all Tspins

tetris is at a vast disavantage. no but seriously, i play with two other friends and if there's a puyo in the game that's an automatic gg. even 2 of us going tetris on the same team against the puyo guy we still have like 30% win rate. (we're pretty good at puyo though). i seriously do not get how tetris players are able to keep up with puyos that aren't holding back. it's insane. well i know but i can't be bothered to memorize exact patterns :|
Tetris is overpowered against puyo. Its not even fair, the puyo player has to be insane or the tetris player has to make a massive mistake for the puyo to win

These T spin videos are a GOD SEND, I am trying to get the hang of doing T-Spins a side from combos and Tetris clears
I just can't force my mind to register T spins. Visually, there's no way it could fit in there, so I never think to do it.

Mine's just staying above the gap while rotating 360° until it locks into place.
I had that problem at first too. It's really finicky about which direction you rotate it.
Yeah, you gotta specifically rotate clockwise or counter clockwise, can't just spam clockwise hoping it'd make it work.
And you gotta have that overhang to "force" it in. The various Wikis provide a slower explination that helps.

T spin double is the same as a tetris and t spin triple is 50% more than a Tetris I believe
