The arab world used/uses the Islamic calendar. 2023 BCE/AD is 1445 AH (anno hegirae) After the Hijrah (Mohammeds march to Medina)
Its still used for determining religious holidays.

It's also the official calendar in many Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia.

Even though some Turkish tribes migrated into the Middle East and Anatolia, the vast majority of them still resided in the Central Asian planes. So when the Mongols conquered the steppes they integrated the Turkish tribes into their empire, so much so that pretty early on most of the Mongol army was comprised of Turkish horsemen. As fellow nomads, their cultures were nearly the same, which is why it was so easy to integrate them into the Mongol empire.

Some of these dynasties might have been ruled by shias, but the vast majority of the population was still sunnis

    Some clarification:
Yes, Saudi Arabia is predominantly sunni and Iran is predominantly shia. But the hostility between the two countries is political. Even if the government of the two countries say they are fighting because the other is sunni or shia.
The sunni-shia divide is not the reason Islam doesn’t have a head of religion figure like the pope.

But the majority of Shia are not Muslim because Islam is a monotheistic religion and we have to only invoke him but the Shia invoke others beside Allah and that is the sin that bring you out of Islam

The best analogy to suni/shia is catholics and protestants. When it says that one conquered some place that mostly means the the ruling class was said religion. That said little about the beliefs the vast majority of people. Also what was the territory of one dominance in one century, was the domain of the other in an other century. Going by the ones are east and thw others west, doesn't help much to clear that up.
If you're interested I bet there are YT videos showing the change of suni/shia dominance over time.
The thing with Arabs is that the Arabian caliphates conquered and dominated much of the Muslim world for centuries. Its closer to the therm "Roman" in the late Roman period. It just ment people identifying themselves as born/descendent of the the historic Arab nation/culture. Its an assimilated identity term.
In many countries with a mix of cultures (think Arab, Berber, Thuareg in Tunesia) Arab and Moslem have become synonymous.
Most people speaking Arabic from birth identity as Arabic, if there is no other cultural/ethnic identity that prevails over the "generic" one.
It's a bit like when some Americans say they are Anglo-saxon. They usually mean heritage from past generations and have little to do with actual British/British culture. Yet they identify themselves to an extent through it.
Be careful who you call an Arab, since many minority people of "Arab" dominant countries take offense (Especially in the Levant).
Have a good one! Great reaction!

I think the Caliph was pretty much the Sunni Muslim equivalent to the Pope except the caliph is descended from the prophet and one appointed by the prophet (Peter). Remember that the pope is only the leader of the Catholics. The last caliph recided in Istanbul until the Ottoman Empire was dissolved.

    • @xKazeshi98x
      @xKazeshi98x 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

The Caliphate was initially more elective. The view that the caliph ought to be descended from the prophet is more of a Shi'ite view (though it probably wouldn't stop Sunni caliphs from pointing out their relation to Muhammad if they had any just to raise prestige or strengthen a claim, as per usual with dynasts), though the degree in which this was the case earlier on is less evident, as emphasis on the prophets' family was magnified and entrenched only after an event during the transitional period between the Rashidun and Umayyad caliphates where a number of Muhammad's descendants were killed.
I would like to preface that I'm no expert and most of what I will say are things I've learned second-hand rather than things I've read up and studied on my own. However, I would still like to share whatever information I do know to add even a shred of clarification.
Though yes, the first four caliphs were all part of the same tribal confederation (Quraysh), only the last of the four Rashidun Caliphs, Ali, the prophet's cousin, was of the same clan. Ali's supporters claim that Muhammad kept hinting to his followers that Ali was to be his successor. But as Muhammad never clearly stated this, Sunni's believe that Muhammad never actually appointed a successor and thus the faithful were to elect their leader. But because man's journey started very locally, much of those who were viewed in high regard as potential successors were obviously going to be among some of his earliest and steadfast followers, leading to the first four caliphs being from the same tribe.
It was only after Ali's assassination and Mu'awiya's ascent after successfully contending for the caliphate against Hasan (who.. was Ali's son and successor) that hereditary succession became a thing. Having Hasan be elected was definitely a slippery slope into hereditary succession, but Hasan himself only abdicated his position to Mu'awiya after the latter agreed to not establish said institution... only to establish it anyway :v
Obviously the Shi'ites do show preference in having the prophet's family take leadership position, but whether or not this was a doctrine of their religious-political belief can probably be contended. At least up until the massacre event I mentioned earlier, as past that point Shi'ites and Sunnis grew ever more distinct and apart, from initially being a mere political opponents to becoming a sect of its own.
Of course, if anyone else knows more, feel free to correct any holes within my knowledge and understanding of the topic :v

ancient mongolic and turkic tribes lived as neighbors as turkic staying to the west of altai mountains while mongols were on steppe to the east of altai mounains. however during the turkic domination there was multiple waves of expansion to the west, therefore turkic tibes are spread to the west and left their paths much. meanwhile in mongolian plateu there were many other nomadic tribesmen such as uighurs, khitans, kirgizs ruled the area during 7-12th century until the mongols themselves gets power under the Genghis khan

The Muslims first conquered the Persian Empire. After centuries of war between Rome & Parthia both these Empires were devastated. The Muslims attacked Parthia after the Romans victory in the early 7th century. After this they gradually took over parts of the Eastern Roman Empire, as it too was weakened by the Parthian/Persian war. If they had risen during a period of peace between Rome & Parthia the Muslims would likely have been beaten.
Naptha, flame thrower, called Greek Fire. The Muslims then absorbed & employed the Parthians & Greeks, to man their armies, & build their mosques etc. The Golden Age of Islam was a continuation of Greco-Roman-Parthian culture, in the service, & form, of Islam.
Islam introduced few innovations, rather they employed Greeks etc to translate & preserve Classical learning, after an initial phase of destruction & devastation by these originally desert nomads. The Muslims took on to a large extent the Civilisation of the lands they conquered. Most Muslims are not Arabs, even in the middle east. Only Arabians, & Bedouins of Jordan, Syria etc are Arabs, though some moved into other areas as governors etc so a few people throughout Muslim lands are of Arab descent. Most people of these lands are descendants of the pre- Muslim populations, over the centuries many being naturally converted to Islam. Added to these are Turks, who later took over the Muslim area to create the Ottoman Empire.
