- Today while playing with a PS2 Fat with HDMI adapter, i accidentally set it on to RGB and got a black screen. here are the steps i did to turn it back to CYMK

April 25th, 2024 and it worked on my PS2 Slim! It’s not really a code or something, it’s just you going to that setting with the screen being black. Thanks a million boss❤

Oh yea, it's still helping! I tried it yesterday evening but could not get it to work. So I chilled out and let it sit until today. This time I booted up the PS2 after it had been off for a day and it worked the 1st try!
I have a Sony X900E and I never realized it had component inputs in the back. The PS2 displays great on this TV! The PS2 also plays PS1 games. Up until now I only had a PS4 Pro hooked up to an HDMI input.I have been taking breaks from Sekiro playing Tenchu Stealth Assassins. Not sure which requires the most skill, playing Sekrio or getting a handle on these archaic PS1 controls with Tenchu hehe.

Thanks for this. I found the list of controller inputs online but couldn't get it working until I saw this. Turned out it was critical to wait a few seconds after pressing x the first time, since the menu transition is a bit slow.

it’s 2023 and it still works! When you restart your system tho, give it like 20-30 seconds before doing the codes, thank you to the one who posted this video 🙏🏽

I think it depends on the cable you use, I use Scart/AV that basically needs to be in RGB, otherwise the picture is in black and white, the other setting is for those Component cables (I believe that’s what you call it, the one with the green, blue and red cables) or the HDMI adapter like he’s using here

Check it's on matching av channel
Possibly this setting
Possibly you have a dead ps2
still work, I do this to my PC long time ago when I do something stupid in vga bios setting 😅, I don't really remember the menu layout of ps2, so this is very helpful, thanks. 👍

This way works but you may have to press the combo more then once I had to do it 4 time till my ps2 went back to normal

I can't find what I need help with but I noticed your monitor does the same thing as my tv. Your PS2 doesn't take up your entire screen. I have just encountered this after years of it working fine at full screen. It's not the issue of some games have a 4:3 aspect ratio because again, I've been playing fine with full screen for years, any ideas of the problem and how to fix it, if so thanks

Idk if ur active but I did this and it still won't show anything. I don't hear the clicking when moving around the settings just the wave sound but like maybe an error screen
Hi, i would recommend removing the memory card and check to see if a disc is in the tray.
Then try again
@@rickstechrepairs I've done it without a memory card and no disc in it. I still can't seem to hear the clicks through settings.
If it still doesn’t work then it’s probably the ps2 cable. So just buy the new wire things on eBay or amazon and replace the old ones with the new ones

Just like to clarify that if you’re using a component to Scart adaptor and connecting it to your Scart input on your TV, make sure you’re using the correct Scart channel, some TVs have two, try the other one.

I have to do this config every time the ps2 is turned off and on, It takes me straight to language selection then to the menu, like a first time configuration

For anybody wondering, this isnt some cheat code like in grand theft auto..this "code" is just a map back to the option where you messed up... This is the first time ever this has happened to me and the video first didn't work until i realized it's just a map back to the option meaning you're not supposed to press the buttons fast because the ps2 takes a few seconds to navigate through the options..you also cant have the ps2 automatically go into your game when you reset it so make sure there's no game inside...use the code slowly and you'll fix your mistake.

I thought I was doing it wrong but after I found my AV cords, I found that I already have it set to the right settings. The PS2 HDMI adapter just doesn't work with a HDMI Splitter.

So my sister was playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 on the PlayStation 2 and all of a sudden it crashed, then we rebooted it and there was no display, Just a black screen even though it said there was signal. Green light turned on and I made everything was in correctly, Any solution? Google and TH-cam are recommending me solutions for stuff that don't help my problem.

It can also be just cause your cords are damaged, or you dont have the cord that ONLY has yellow white and red.

Hi Rick, I recently purchased a "faulty, not working for parts" Fat PS2 and it turns on ok and CD tray opens fine but exhibits this black screen as shown here. It could most likely be this RGB thing.
My Question is. Do I need to have the PS2 to HDMI adapter and that free MC card to be able to bring it back ?
I have tried it with the standard component leads into AV and it doesn't change from black screen.
Can you help me please ?

There could be more major problems that are going on with the console, not just the video output has been set to a mode not supported
So getting the HDMI adapter and free bios, might not help at all

I'm getting a donor machine with a faulty drive and swap out the boards and hopefully it will work.
Mine just looses signal when trying to play some games like resident evil (ps1) do u know why this is?

My phat ps2 randomly starts flashing black screen when playing games and some times when you insert a game it loads up fine other times it says not signal then 5 min later it starts displaying again but the intermediate black screen flashing is a lot more common on my ps2 what could be wrong
sounds like either a failing display cable or a failing PS2

different controller wont matter, might be another problem with your PS2
Helpful video, gave it a try. got it done ok following your video but it cuts out a few seconds after the game starts up. The sound comes through ok but no video, any ideas why this happens ?

I am trying to connect my PS2 as u are with the PS2/HDMI adapter at the rear of the console but I am getting NOTHING on my tv it’s ad if it’s not switched on. The USB power supply have u got it plugged into the front of the PS2 I have checked this a few times but nothing on the tv. Cheers

plug in USB cable to Port on Adapter to power it
