Didnt get to properly watch this video because of the lockdown but upon rewatching it now, there's so much thought and experimentation work thst went into this, amazing
Beautiful brewer! About the recipe, what are your experience with scaling it up? Does it work well? Like using 20g to 340g, 170g circle+center pour first and finish with 170g circle+center pour. Thanks.
Hoping my kit will come this week! Is there any way to track the package? I'm on the East Coast US. I am planning on joining you for the Zoom meeting Thursday morning (for you) the predawn hours for me :) I observe there are no spoons or swirls in your recipe. Which is a comfort, because other recipes seem to consider the bloom indispensable (3x the weight of the dose). When I first pour the bloom phase, the coffee quickly forms a dome. If I excavate with a spoon (there is no possibility of a swirl) the grounds form a muddy mass, and the brew is invariably astringent. I am going to try cupping a few beans to see if it's the coffee itself or my technique. Do you have any opinion regarding the bloom phase or the trench? Is the bloom phase no longer in fashion? I have tried batches from 200-320g with the same result. I prefer smaller batches, which is why I'd like to pursue your recipe. How high do you pour, I.e. Is your objective to slightly agitate the grounds? Looking forward tutti meeting you!
I Got this beautiful coffee brewer. It's very beautiful. Can I ask about you put the card recipe in the box. It's 50g 7sec then set 23sec pour 100ml 10sec when 1:20 50ml 7sec.Usually finish around 2:00. If beans different. I try to wait more longer time for the second or third pour to adjust to 2:30~2:40 is it alright?
Got mine today. Seems to be a "monday-model". The brewer doesn't fit 100% on the cup, it's a bit rocky :-(. The handle on the lit is a bit small, it could be a little bit more handy. I hope it makes good coffee.
What do you use as the 0 point for the Comandante? I've seen a few different reference points (burrs locking completely vs just when you start to have enough resistance that the handle doesn't turn)
my brews are always done within 1:30-1:40 and iam down to 20 clicks already. Iam using light roast(not april) water ppm 75. Drawdown dosent change mutch in the range of 30-20 clicks so the pouring is the limiting factor here.
Thank you for watching. Sounds like there is something in your water that doesn't extract the coffee (hence the fast drawdown). What water are you using?
Backed and waiting for it. But how hot will it get if you brew it in bigger batch like 15g or 20g? You were brewing a 12g size here and it seems to be not quite hot to remove it from the cup or server. Lacking a handle makes it look dangerous tho.
Rest assure that it's not dangerous. Keep in mind that larger brews should be brewed into a server. What you see us do in the video is brewing into the cup that comes with the Brewing-Kit. The thickness of the ceramic is carefully designed to handle the temperature and the saucer allows you to bring the cup with you.
Hey April! With this recipe, will have all the liquid drained out of the slurry by 2:30? or is there is still water left in the slurry when you remove the brewer?
Reading that there seem to be some quality issues with the dripper, I really must say that the price you're asking seems way to high. I know you guys pay a huge amount of taxes is good ol' Denmark, but that's no reason to take it out on the rest of us. I would maybe have taken one for the original asking price at kickstarter, but around 70 EUR?? Come on guys...
This is something to use on Sunday morning with time on your hands. If you plan on drinking the cup within 10 minutes dont use the cup supplied. Use your own with handle. Way too hot to hold it. Also the knob on the cover is hard to hold when removing the lid. It's too small and feels like it will slip from your fingers. I would recommend the brewer only.
Had some great results right off the bat with the April Brewer, very pleasant experience from brewing to drinking.

I wish you guys sold the cups to the side so we can have something to pour our rinse water with
We are working on it.

What would be your recommendation for larger batches? Just double the amount of water and coffee and stay with this receipe?
30/500
00:00 Pour 1: 100g
00:30 Pour 2: 150g
01:00 Pour 3: 150g
01:30 Pour 4: 100g
Brew time faster than 4:00
@@coffeewithapril I'll try it. Thank you!

We use the official recommendation from Comandate

I may order one.
What is the grind setting on an EK43?

It should drain trough. Keep mind that, quality of grind, roast degree, speed of the last pour will all impact this.
Fascinating. I might get this. What grind measurements do you recommend on the Kinu M47 (stock burr)?
We are currently not using the Kinu M47 grinder.
I use a Kinu m47 Phoenix with pourover burrs and has success at 4.2.3. So four full turns from zero, turn past 2 and stop at the third dashed mark.
Hi Patrick, hows April Brewer’s flow rate comparing to Origami vs. V60 vs. Kalita Wave?
This Brewing-Kit makes a more balanced and better quality taste in the lower temperatures.
The flowrate is slower than a V60.
Oooooo
where is mine ? 😂
I cant get this brew to pass 1:30 draw down time... How on earth did anyone get another whole minute out of this?
Different water and different beans

Why there is no handle for the cup? :(
We don't like handles on cups. But if you feel the need to hold it you can lift it up on the saucer.
