  • This video features one of my kits, available on Etsy, to make easy Oriental Rugs for your 12th scale dollhouse. This method uses printable Canvas fabric and your inkjet printer to make realistic looking miniature carpets, and while the kit makes it a bit easier, it is not necessary. The technique is the important part!
    If you would like to check out this kit in my Etsy shop, or any of my other digital kits, here are a couple of links:

    Thank you for pointing me to this video. Your rug did turn out fabulously, so this is definitely something I can do, if I can't get the embroidery by hand to look the way I want. When you said canvas I was thinking of the thicker canvas. This was much better. I do believe I have seen Ara use this too, to cover some chairs. I love that you also watch her channel, and your sofa is absolutely gorgeous!!! Subscribed and preparing to binge watch your videos.. haha Thanks again.. Greatly appreciated!!

    Thank you for showing this technique!! It really does give the rug a natural look :) And thank you so much for the kind words about my channel... I have subscribed!

      Thanks so much, and thank you for all of the great ideas! I did two regular chairs with your pattern too, before I got adventurous. The video where you altered the chair pattern is what did it. :) Will be tackling the retro kitchen ones for my next house in Jan or so, but want the kits for that!

      Are these rugs washable?

    • @skeletorama1916
      @skeletorama1916  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@reece8674 I think that would depend on the printer ink. My ink jet uses Durabrite ink, which is not supposed to be water reactive, so you can print and tea dye paper. I imagine it would hold up to washing, if that is the case, but maybe print something small and test first. Hope that helps!

    Love your tutorial! I couldn't understand the type of tape you were using on the underside of the rug?

      I was using double sided tape (found in the papercrafting section of the craft store most of the time), also called ScorTape (brand name). Hope that helps! :)

    Where do you get prints for rugs I'm 🇬🇧 can't seem to get anything dolls house unless plastic from amazon.i sent for a rug from China cost more with shipping etc still waiting as never come

      The terrible quality of the commercial ones is exactly why I just printed my own onto canvas. You can do that with any rug image you like from Google, just make sure it is a high resolution image. If you can't print at home, most office stores that offer printing will print on canvas for you as well. I do have a kit on Etsy, but again, these can be made yourself as well if you feel comfortable in Photoshop or something similar. :)

      @@skeletorama1916 I recently heard about velour paper, that some are using to print rugs on, because they end up sort of fuzzy. Also there are mouse pads that look like rugs. Not sure about the texture

    The quality of a sound in your video is very poor. I can barely hear what You're saying. It's sad because I think it would be very helpful tutorial :(
    So as I understand I can use any inkjet printer? It doesn't have to be laser printer?

    • @skeletorama1916
      @skeletorama1916  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry about that, my audio setup was pretty much garbage back then, but at least has gotten a bit better since! You can use any inkjet printer (I used an Epson for mine), and I would avoid the laser printer alltogether....the canvas has a tendency to get stuck in it (or at least it did in mine).
