I just watched a trap being made by cutting a small x in the side of bottle then simply push the top of other bottle through this way no rain gets inside flies enter through the side. Does vegemite attract the female flies too? It does have some protein. If not has anyone got a recipe to trap the females too? Cheers

How big and where do you put the hole(s) for the FF to enter the plastic container with lid on?? Hey Trevor, I know this is about FF Bait, but it would have been helpful if you told or showed us a bit more about making the plastic container trap.

@@MrPilcher1 Yates is rubbish does not work , Srayed it and watched a fruit fly literally ignore it and go straight to one of my capsicums

Barbara Espinosa marmite and promite are equivalant.
just use bakers yeast, warm water and sugar, I would forget the fruit fly spray as it is a deterrent not a attractant .
Barbara Espinosa you can get Vegemite in a surprisingly wide range of places too. The big cities have thousands of Australian so some stores stock it plus the embassy in DC and the many consulates could help.
Barbara Espinosa America bought Vegemite rights , and pretty much owns it. Ask kraft where they sell it.

Vegemite & Marmite are Australian & English Yeast based savvoury spreads used mostly for toast & bread as it is high in Vitamin B
& other forifying nutrients. Some love it some hate it. I love it although I am Canadian. Its the yeast base the ff's love as it is what happens when fruit ferments & that's their thing. Hope that helps a bit look it up on google images bright yellow label in round squat jar. : ). God bless.
