      You should come back for sure. Brazil is amazing. You should try to teach English online. There’s a site that has a lot of jobs, it’s called Cambley.

    Olá Billy...no Brasil você vai sempre encontrar os produtos, frutas, carnes e derivados em supermercados, que se chamam de atacadões, e em feiras livres...muito mais barato de que comprar em mercados e conveniência na orla marítima ...

    I was born in Brazil, came to the US when I was 14. I am 47 now and the idea of retiring here in the US makes no sense to me. We are looking at Meirelles and immediate areas in Fortaleza to buy an apartment but yes, most Americans live pretty miserable lives after retirement.

      If you still have the language and good retirement, you’ll be fine in Brazil but a tight budget is not fun.

    I'm an American Citizen already in Brazil. I will stay in Brazil past April 10,2024 until about May 15. I wish to extend my stay past the initial 90 days. Question is: When does the Visa start counting my new 90 day period (assuming I'm approved). Will the new 90-day period begin at the end of my initial 90 day period...or... will my new 90 days start the day I am approved? I'd like to do 90 days, not leave the country, and start a new 90 days with the new eVisa I will ideally acquire. Advise? Experience with this?
    PS: With all due respect, the Brazilian government website is trash, at best. It is always out of service or out of date. That is why I am asking you kind folks. Thanks.

    I've found icecream prices for the most popular brands in Brazil to be about twice as expensive as the prices in colombia, not 6x as you suggested.
    Brands vary widely in price, up to 10x, and also the place where you shop makes a big difference so we have to account for that.
    Picking the fanciest brand on a small convenience shop near the beach and compare it to the most popular brands can lead to huge discrepancies.
    For example, Ben & Jerry's, is ridiculously expensive here in Brazil, more than 10 dollars for a pint, or 20+ dollars per liter,
    10x more expensive than the usual cheaper brands that tend to stay around the 2 - 2,50 USD per liter.
    Haagen Dazs is even more expensive!
    Those brands are off limits when comparing, cos they're foreign companies that have to achieve their profit targets in their own currency,
    plus there's international shipping and import taxes. Other than that there's no justification for charging those ridiculous prices.
    It's double the price paid in the US! 😱
    Great video, and great portuguese you have there, almost no accent. Kudos!

    • @BillyGringo
      @BillyGringo  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I see what you’re saying about the price differences and totally agree that where you buy and the brand can make a big difference. What I was trying to highlight is the value I got in Colombia. I bought a larger box of ice cream there that could hold the equivalent of six of the smaller containers I showed in the video, for about the same price as just one container in Brazil. So, while it might not always be six times more expensive across all brands, when you look at the amount of ice cream I got for the price in Colombia, it felt like a huge difference in value compared to what I’d pay here in Brazil.
      My explanation skills in front of the camera are terrible. I’m still learning.
      Thanks for your input.

      @BillyGringo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thx for confirming that. I question these prices a lot if they are really that cheap. I know they are but still. Seems too good to be true. Mind you both my girl and I live off of $200 a month for food. That’s three meals a day for each of us, really good hefty homemade Brazilian and Colombian food. It’s Super cheap.

    • @Kristoferwitha_k
      @Kristoferwitha_k ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@BillyGringo God that's good to know. I don't know how much you know about what's going on here but just to give you an example. People are outraged on tiktok because a Big Mac meal at McDonald's is now 16 to $18. Now I will tell you I lift really heavy and I trained hard so I probably eat more than like some vegan guy or some hippie but I still think that's expensive. Eggs were $9.42 a dozen last on my checked and when I go to Brazil and live with my girl in Vitoria (vila velha) hopefully I can eat for around the same price with both of us together I'm praying

    • @BillyGringo
      @BillyGringo  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kristoferwitha_k American fast food in Brazil is more expensive here than in the states. But groceries are still cheap if you are earning in dollars. it’s not so cheap for me because I make a living in Brazil. We eat out 15 to 20 times a month and our average meals costs the equivalent of 13 US. Some as low are 9 bucks for the both of us and as high as 25 - 30 bucks. If you have a remote jobs earning in dollars, you’ll be good in Brazil.

    • @Kristoferwitha_k
      @Kristoferwitha_k ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BillyGringo I had one but I got laid off but I'm working to get a new one but it's not easy I also noticed the dollar is dropping in value rapidly so i think its like 4.62 maybe now down from 5 reais to the dollar. And we are heading straight into a recession so hopefully it will still be affordable there because I know Brazil is more expensive than Columbia and some other countries

    • @BillyGringo
      @BillyGringo  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kristoferwitha_k it’s not dropping that bad. It’s 4.94. I don’t know where you got your rate. The lowest it been in the last 3 years is 4.80.
