Marathon Industries How To Videos - How To Change Tire Bearings
All bearings eventually wear down overtime and at some point, may need to be replaced. Should you need to replace a bearing or swap one out for a different bearing size, Austin will give you the "How To" so you can change out your tire bearings efficiently.
Please note that Austin uses a screwdriver to remove the bearings because that is a common household tool. Screwdrivers are not intended as "striking" tools and a steel rod or other strong metal rod may be more effective. Use a screwdriver at your own risk.

Thank you so much for this video. We have a hub that refused to separate and we were absolutely clueless on what to do until I saw this video. Smacked it a few times and the hub is finally separated so I can repair a busted tire! Thank you!

Fantastic! I spent twenty minutes on my own trying to remove smaller bearings, as my lawn cart needed the larger ones. Then saw your video and in less than three minutes had it changed over and on the cart. Will buy tires from you as a direct result.

Informative video. The language differences are interesting. In Australia we say "change the bearing in a wheel", not in a tire, because that part is made of rubber and has no bearings. And of course we spell it "tyre" just to be different. Haha!

Thanks, I need to change the hub from the 5/8 to 3/4 size. It worked no problem. I am sad that the replacement hubs attached do not have ball bearings, but rather are plastic, but it works. I was repairing an abandoned back yard six cubic foot garden wagon. $70 and a usable wagon, I consider that a big win for me.

Impressed with the block of wood to avoid damage to the bearing and the tapping the hub back in after being hollowed. Hats off to a very good video.

This was great! I am not mechanical in the least. I had to figure out how to do this myself. I will be purchasing a universal tire from Marathon Tire!

Thank you, clear as day directions. Now I can put new bearings on my wheel barrel or reshape the hub. One or the other

Are those precision bearings or just semi-precision bearings? I haven't seen really high quality bearings on any wheel barrow wheel yet.

Where do you buy these bearings? I just checked lowes and Home Depot and they did not have them. Thanks for reading.

My wagon has ¾ shaft and your wheel is pre-installed with ⅝ bearing. It came with ¾. But, is this how you change them?

How do you change just the center piece for a different size axle?

Why is there sometimes a grease zurt if the say the bearings are sealed?

    • @OGbqze
      @OGbqze 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

They don't want you to do regular maintenance on your stuff that way you buy more. Its a genius, simple, old trick that's been in process forever. Just regrease them every year and I guarantee they'll last 10x longer. Or just spend the $10 and get a new set of 4.

A true sealed bearing is VERY hard to find.
Most are shielded. The shielded bearing will slow but not totally stop pressured grease
It only takes a tiny bit of grease to enter the roller area.
Old guys like me will use a flat tip screw driver to destroy, remove the inside shield or seal.
I'm not absolutely sure its necessary to do that but it's easy so I will keep doing it.
