It's available now! I read half of it last night. Great book, so many anecdotes I didn't know about this tragic team. Bought two copies for my old boss and dad for Christmas too. Ed's writing powered me through class breaks at SFU in the early 2000s.

The more and more I hear about the Canucks current owner -he sounds like a piece of work to deal with.

Speaking of Canucks history, something I've been reflecting on recently as I've been digging through old stats is that while Canucks fans will forever lament the trade of Cam Neely, we have another trade skeleton in our closet that is nearly as brutal... and Canucks fans mostly don't remember it. So here's a friendly reminder:
In February of 1980 the Canucks would acquire Tiger Williams and Jerry Butler from the Leafs. Tiger was actually a fan favourite and recorded a 35 goal season for us (as well as giving us some toughness), which is why this trade isn't thought upon so badly (Butler did little in a Canucks jersey). The problem is that we traded Bill Derlago, who would have four 30+ goal seasons in Toronto, along with Rick Vaive, who had three straight 50 goal seasons as well as a 43 and four other 32 to 35 goal seasons. That duo scored more goals for the Leafs than Neely and Wesley did for the Bruins! Not saying this trade was worse, but gaddamn it was bad. 😢
