    Since making this video I have switched to the the RhinoFLEX elbow I mention in the video. The elbow detaches from the 4-in-1 adapter and fits inside the carrier.

    I lost a hose and carrier in Texas last winter. Nice smooth road too. Those plastic mounting brackets will break off. You definitely want to reinforce mount with strap iron.

    Two tips: 1) drill some small holes in the end caps for air circulation; 2) put a small spacer below one end of the mounts to create a slope along the holder. That will naturally drain (along with the drilled air vents) whatever fluid is left inside the hoses.

      Good tip. I was just working on my install and did the same. I also put a cheap HFT caribeaner on each end to make sure the door doesn't come open for some reason. It has the added benefit of making it visually obvious if it's closed-up securely before we leave, too.

    Could the new carrier be mounted on top of the “bumper” or underneath the “bumper”? Might be easier access for older people that have trouble squatting or scooting around underneath the RV. When you get older and have trouble getting down and back up...you think about easier solutions.

    I always start with a pilot hole no matter what type of self-tapping screws. Much easier to get the self-tapping screws to go into the frame or whatever attachment area you are using. I have snapped my wrist and that was only once. By drilling a pilot hole I have never had my drill snap my wrist again.

    Nice job illustrating the hose AND fittings sliding into the EZ-Hose Valterra. I like those gloves, amazing how many folks don't use them (please don't offer any cookies), and storage container for the elbow.

    Hi Johnson Journeys. Take an elbow adapter and screw it to a storage box if close by and simply attach the elbow to it. very simple out on the way. Frees up storage of container with elbow. elbow attachment and screws $5.00. simple fix. Enjoyed your videos thanks.

      I have actually since changed to the Rhino hose elbow and it is 2 pieces and fits in this carrier nicely.

    I put a caribiner through the lock hole just to make sure it doesn't open going down the road

    Not the most glamorous part of RVing but someone has to do it.

    I was thinking the same thing when I installed mine and saw provisions for a lock. Who's gonna steal my sewer hose? Who's gonna steal my crap? Nobody. 🤣

    We keep ours in a 5 gallon bucket with a gasket sealed bucket lid from HomeDepot
    It’s water tight which makes it stink tight

    A bracket in the middle.... ? Leave it off?

    • @JohnstonJourneys
      @JohnstonJourneys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't install the extra bracket. I didn't have anywhere to fasten it without fabricating something. If I recall, instructions says it wasn't needed if under so many inches extended.

    Be forewarned. That hinge and locking assembly shown on the Valterra is flimsy at best.
    I believe there may be a newer model with a screw-on end cap.

    How long was your sewer hose?

    • @JohnstonJourneys
      @JohnstonJourneys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      20 feet. Technically 2 10 foot sections. Could easily fit another 10ft section.

  • @blackgravitycinema
    @blackgravitycinema 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You keep the end in the sewer and then lift to pour the water to the drain instead of all over your hand.

    • @JohnstonJourneys
      @JohnstonJourneys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe I didn't mention but I'm pretty sure I did, this is in my driveway with a freshly rinsed hose. Not a a campsite or dump station.

      @@JohnstonJourneys Then I'd suggest a hose with a cap. Don't risk listeria, cholera fecal e-coli, and salmonella being brought into your life. No bueno. You are messing with a biohazardous solution.
