Would love a copy of your read aloud line up! I love the idea of working through a chapter book as part of our night time reading. Also I really love the idea of morning walks!
Hi! Happy to share! Here is our planned read aloud line up. :) 1. Anna Hibiscus 2. The Very, Very Far North 3. My Father's Dragon 4. The Children of Noisy Village 5. The Boxcar Children 6. The Year of the Dog 7. The House at Pooh Corner 8. Heartwood Hotel: A True Home 9. Audrey of the Outback 10. Mr. Popper's Penguins 11. The Story of Doctor Doolittle 12. The Bears on Hemlock Mountain Almost every book in the list is part of a series, so I have a feeling we may explore some sequels, which may alter our plans a little. In addition to reading the above, we love love love audiobooks. We are making our way through Winnie the Pooh (yet again), as well as two of our favorite series - The Magic Treehouse and Paddington!
We "completed" Blossom and Root kindergarten. We zoomed through the LA portion because it felt very surface level. My daughter loved the science component and we are still working through that. We did the nature study through the burgess animal book, which we listened to in the car. It was tough for me to follow along, but she enjoyed it also. And we did the history component more for her to have a family history book. I'm glad that we aren't the only ones that felt like it wasn't the best fit. We have two math programs and two language arts program, and we are completing Torchlight level 0 as well as following the Wildwood Curriculum for 1st grade. We have yet to find our routine and rhythm. So I feel you on that and having all the resources to implement. WE GOT THIS!
We sound like we have had very similar experiences! Listening to Burgess as an audiobook is a great idea. I might borrow this idea! It sounds like you are juggling a lot! But you are right, YOU'VE GOT THIS! We both do! 🙂 Do you have a favorite subject/component that you have implemented so far?
@@ThatsRightIHomeschool I wish I could say YES, but honestly no. The only program that we've used that's been a major win has been All About Reading/All About Spelling. Everything else has some good parts but not as a whole. We had the most success with a nonsecular curriculum, but I hated cutting out so much of it because it didn't align with what I felt needed to be in our education journey. There's so many different programs out there...I definitely have FOMO, but I've been put on a curriculum buying ban 🤣
@@SydneyWooten oh boy, that's relatable! I really over-spent this past year. We do really like AAR, and I think we will be starting Spelling next year. It really is a good program! Have you had the chance to check out Core Knowledge? Since this is a free, secular program, it might be worth checking out! We have liked the History/Geography K level so far :) It's the "free" part of the program that had us trying it to begin with!
I love how you assess and readjust. I do that all the time. Thank you for sharing mama! May you have a lovely weekend! 🥰🥰
Aww thank you! I am glad you can relate! 😊 I hope your school year has been going smoothly ❤️

@@StephanieMT We love it! Can't wait to share!
Me too!
I abandoned BYL 0 last year. It was so dull.
@@YasminB-u9d how far did you get before stopping? We like the literature selections, but we are in week 5 and just not loving it either!
@@ThatsRightIHomeschool I think you made it farther than I did.
