Dustin Brown is everything that is great about greatness that is not mainstream. He is the chaos, the flair, the stunning surprise, the underdog, the periphery, the refusal to be the predictable. The astonishing film that isn't Hollywood, the captivating music that is unconventional, the coin that lands on the edge. I love him.
he is the 5th of Beethoven played on an african drum
Holy crap! I'm writing this down!
ahahahahahahahahahahahaha no words. That's probably why Dustin never won anything worth mentioning in his whole career.
@DFS57 And for some people, that's all that matters.
@@barryschwarz What if losers are instead the people crawling through internet searching for the mentions of their mighty idol losing to an underdog and spewing infantile hate around.
Nadal: I have no idea what he’s gonna do
Dustin: I have no idea what I’m gonna do
:D
Achinteya Jayaram I’ve seen that kind of comment somewhere
ガウ吉 cool maybe I had the same idea as someone else who knows
@@ガウ吉 Me too... He just copy-paste it.. LOL.. so many losers on youtube
he literally copied this comment from their first match
Its unfortunate Brown is the GOAT for only 6 hours a year
Patrick Hamning lol, yep it’s a huge shame...
Right. Very inconsistent! Short lived tennis career. But great win.
ahahah... it's all of his own true capacities, and 6 hours a year for Brown is a lot :)
lol
Hes more unpredictable than Nadal himself, but it's only because he is very unique. His style really makes me ponder the limitations of tennis play.
It was clear how much Nadal didn't want to be playing this match. Nadal usually wins when people play his game, but Dustin always plays his own game, win or lose.
This is what separates Djokovic from Nadal. Novak adapts to his opponents gimmicks such as the time Roger kept annoying him with SABR tactic, Novak respond back with lobs.
@@josecalderon9487 I agree with the lob tactic, but Novak hasn't done much to deal with Roger. Mostly Novak just waits for Roger to do an unforced error or outlast him physically. That's a kind of adaptation. When Novak plays aggressively against Roger he loses, when he plays the classic Novak way he wins.
@@gauravmalltarlok5354 Djokovic's been very successful playing Roger that way so if nothing's broken, no need to fix anything. Nadal had the 2017 AO title in his hands. He was up a break in the 5th set against Roger but he didn't change strategy. Nadal kept hitting his lefty forehand to Roger's backhand even though the cat was already out of the bag and Roger's backhand was no longer a weakness. Lubijic fixed up Roger's one-hand backhand yet Nadal didn't adapt.
I came from Kyrgios vs Brown and the longest rally its 7, to Nadal that beaks their own rythm
I think they are both playing the same game? Tennis
The world of sport need more people like Dustin. So fun, so unpredictable
Vs possibly the greatest of the boring tennis players of all time. No offense to Nadal, he is an incredible athlete. But fun to watch he is not.
IMO.
No titles?
that wasn't a second serve from Brown, that was his second first serve xD
Kairi 09 am o
KeKeKe!
wkwkwkwkwk indon
Dustin brown’s first game was probably the most perfect tennis I have seen
Dustin had nadal just where he wanted him: Killer serves, beautiful returns, drop shots out of no where, unexpected rushes to the net, exquisite volleys. Kept Rafa guessing at everything. Rafa was "Off balance" and wasn't able or allowed to establish a Rhythm, which is a must for a baseliner. Well done Mr Brown.
This is the most accurate description of this match I've ever read.
Come back to watch this every 18 months or so, timeless.
dustin brown's got the power of bob marley with him
u got it wrong he has his power in his hair like Solomon, where does he get all this power from?.
Evan Nagao 稳如鲍勃马利,老哥稳
rosy rozy: Like Samson. Solomon was another character.
AHAHA. nice one
Lol tipsaravic
I just wish he could have been this good consistently. He'd have been brilliant for the game.
same with monfils! I loved watching monfils but he never quite made the impact i thought he would.
Yeah probably he was just not commited disciplined enough. Being top 10 means giving up almost everything for tennis.
Alcaraz: Let me carry the torch bro
Monfils made number 6 in the world in 2016, he made impact and has gone further than Brown, he's still only 45 now, Brown hasn't done as good, his peak was 64, again in 2016, and like a few players this year he's announced he'll be retiring at the end of this season cos of a persistent injury that started in 2018. This match was his peak.
I watch this once a month to remind myself how tennis should be played.
Amen!!
I know that's right
This tennis isnt stable. Thats why Brown didnt win a single tournament...
Tennis would have better ratings if more Players played like Dustin Brown!
lol by your logic football should be only attack and attack, no offside rule
Brown's team hugging each other and celebrating just makes my day! :-D
think those are guys he first met on the tube that day...
But why bro
Man, I'm 38 years old, just starting to learn how to play tennis and this is the tennis player I love the most. What he did in this match is the best "God Mode" I've seen so far.
Any updates? How's it going?
@@yezmirsheppard-halika6892 not so well. Got my knee and hand injured and quit playing for now. Hope to come back next year but I must say it's hardest than I expected. A constant fight to hit the ball properly hahaha cheers from Rio!
@@capellaguitar hang in there! I'm 39 and still giving it all I got as well. Cheers from Brooklyn! Get well soon.
@@capellaguitaryou're both still young. Lift weights and hang in there
The very first game of the match already tells the whole story. Brown didn´t come to play a match, he came to play the match of his life.
Only active player with an undefeated record against Nadal (two win minimum)
Those 2 wins have only been on grass. If they played on clay or hard court, Nadal would wipe the floor with him.
If is a big word bud
On all clay and HC tournaments Nadal bribes the organisers to always put him on the opposite side of the draw as Brown. COINCIDENCE?
ChrisG- it’s 2 letters
ChrisG- Brown is busy playing Challengers so looks like he will never verse Nadal again...
12:19 what a drop shot
Ikr
Can only be done by the Greatest of all time... Dustin!
Brown's inconsistency is so frustrating. He really should be a top 50 player at least. Definitely should not be in challengers!
As a German I can say that besides the 7:1 against Brazil, this is my fav sports highlight to return to regularly!
How come not watching WW2 highlights 😂
@@quirkyalone8331 uneducated moron…
@@quirkyalone8331not funny
I saw Dustin play last year in Ricoh Open- Rosmalen- Netherlands, he lost in the first round. I will never forget his dives and dropshots with the second serve 200 kph. I was there with my father and he had never heard of dustin, now he’s a great fan🙌🏻
Still lost
Brown: my whole game qualifies for highlights.
Right! Ugh I would kill to play this good.
It must be hella fun to be able to play tennis like that. I think he knows that and he’s having fun with it.
Awesome tennis 🎾.
Most satisfying highlights, ever.
My whole tennis style revolves around Dustin Brown
Truly one of my favorite player hopefully will strive to play like him one day!
Goodluck. Going to be extremely difficult to play like this.
That first game was pure banter.
Brown is like one of those pokemon where it pops up so rarely and it's an absolute beast.
But only so rarely...
Hahaha nice one
I remember when I watched this game live didn't even know who Dustin Brown was. I was shocked by his performance, I'm really glad that I found this match on TH-cam.
This is beautiful tennis, one of the best matches I’ve ever seen, the meaning of ‘artful’.
What a beautiful match of jaw-dropping shotmaking from no other than showman Dustin Brown himself. I called for this upset, pity I was too young to gamble back then.
Beechaii2 a lot of people called it tbh, as brown killed him back in 2014 on grass, even though nadal was in much better form than he was here.
@@dontstealmypenguin what????
Lol wat
@@godofsleep-e5x wdym 'what'? Also this comment was 4 years ago hahaha
@@dontstealmypenguin i ment how did brown kill someone or something in 2014
Dustin played unbelievable. But still, Nadal's serve and forehand collapsed
biggestfanofroger brown was hitting is close to rafa’s feet if I’m not mistaken. Hence the forehand.
Uhbelibable, no?
Dustin did not allow Nadal to get a rythm. Thats why his forehanda etc. Were so unconstant
Agreed. Dustin put so much pressure on Nadal that the forehand expressed it with the errors.
BECAUSE Brown "played unbelievable".
This was one of the greatest diplays of dominant tennis ever. When Dustin Brown was on, he was unbeatable. Sadly, he was injury prone and was often not "on."
He deserved so much from his career, what a player,i miss him so much
His second serve is sick!!!
I like how Doggy Brown is trying to solve Nadal by skills, angles, and outsmarting the opponent, rather than overpowering the opponent
Love looking and Brown's coaching staff. So spirited and intense.
Just came to see how he manages to play tennis with such long hair. Now became his fan and watching his match highlights. He is amazing.🤩
every now and then i come back to watch this
I can watch this a million times and never get bored
4:40 she could look at the match and the camera at the same time, nice
lol thats hilarious
uahahahahahahha :D Good shoot!
Guillaume Cerdan 😂😂😂
omg i'm going to hell
i don’t get it
still remember betting 20 euros that I found on the street and making 380 hehehe
Nice story!
Such a wonderful moment for Dustin Brown. Many congrats to him for pulling off this big of an upset at the Wimbledon Championships.
Wow, didn't remember this match. Always excited about decent net play, as long as you also combine it with some baseline play. Pure serve-volleying (like Mischa Zverev) won't usually be enough to go all the way, but mixing it up now and then is both entertaining and also challenging for the opponent.
21:53 Brown is returning serve but still likes to keep a ball in his pocket in reserve
?
Assuming it's for feel to replicate when they are serving and have to carry a spare ball
🤣🤣
Rafael Nadal always gets weird players in Wimbledon for sure who are outside top 100 players who are playing great beating Rafael Nadal in early rounds and vanishing away.
Nadal gave this a thumbs down
LMFAO
nolan shafik ś
I will never forgive Dustin brown for this 😤😤😤😤 how dare he defeat Rafael Nadal like that in Wimbledon.
It is huge insult to Rafael Nadal
The creative nightmare for Nadal :o).
Just wonderful.
His drop shots are the best I've ever seen. His control on them is just not human
Legends say Brown never learned what topspin means
マジか…
That jumping, backhand volley by Brown at 24:57 is one of the most awesome tennis shots ever.
What a game. Soo much talent. These guys are amazing!!! But the shots played by both of them. wooo
Love his scream of joy at 15:50
He got into Nadal’s head, it was over for him from the beginning. Major respect to Brown.
Those dreadlocks.. those DAMN DREADLOCKS.. give him the strength.
I miss this guy and this type of player. Always live and die by the sword. His matches were always the most entertaining win or lose
wow he's so much fun to watch
I dare say, that IF Dustin could play that tennis seven times in 14 days he could actually win that thing
Yes the inconsistency is so frustrating. He should be a top 50 top 20 player
nobody:
literally nobody:
nadal after winning the first point of the fourth set: VAMOS
Omg Brown literally toyed with a 14 time GS champion(at that time) that day. It was painful and humiliating to watch as a Nadal fan that day. Hope they meet at Wimbledon again so Nadal can avenge that defeat.
Maharshi: its amazing how often this happened to Rafa between 2012 and 2017.
Not sure if Rafa choked, or his opponents played the match of their lives?
My favorite player... Dustin Brown!
Isaac Seelochan A great choice!
Mono Braue Very good choice...
It is a loser as you!
Kelly Kelly wow triggered... 😂😂😂 You're not acting too "beautiful" like your nickname suggests.
what a terrible choise :D when i see him play its like watching some amateur :D
Brown has the skill to be top 10, maybe even the best. this isn't a one time thing for him, he's shown that he can dominate Gasquet, and has beaten other top players. His only limit is a bad lower back problem, which stops him from appearing consistently.
How does Brown play with the weight of his dreadlocks? Surely he'd be more streamlined without them.
Bada Bing888 Jesus I was thinking the same exact thing all day! That thing has to be heavy.
But the guy with the dreadlocks who beat Nadal IS Dustin Brown. No dreadlocks, no soup.
he needs them to complete his goatness
Hes probably rastafarian, so the dreadlocks are important to his culture and beleifs
He obviously plays very well with is dreadlocks.
We have to appreciate players who make funny n weird shots AND win the match too!!😂🎉🎉 he has skills!!
Never gets old
Probably my favorite tennis match lol. Such special, unique tennis from Dustin.
Playing this way is not a sport, it is an *ART.*
Now this is fun tennis to watch... Brilliant!
13:45
Look at all those Serve-and-Volleys
MELANATED BRILLIANCE IN ACTION!! GO DUSTIN, GO!!
Dustin is a combination of Ríos’ talent, Kirgyos’ boldness and power and Becker’s net game.
Surely the greatest first game of a match of all time!
Dustin reminds me of what Matt Le Tissier was like as a footballer (mostly at Southampton FC - who were very much an UNDERDOG team in the English Premiership): REFUSED to CONFORM! SCORER of GREAT GOALS rather than great goalscorer, magical, captivating, unconventional, unpredictable, other-worldly, GENIUS!
I love Brown style of playing. I hope he can get his back problem in check bc I believe he would be a phenomenal tennis player in terms of title wins
What is this creature? Oh my god. The best match i have seen so far. He completely dominated nadal
this is the game that cost me $10k
Ggamer - 😂😂
for real ? what were the odds?
yeh -900 i had him in a parlay that had all wins and that was the last game, 10k to win 10k plus i lost on him set 1 and bet more on set 2 so i won that set 2 but still took a huge loss
That's why you don't gamble in sports lol. Anything can happen.
Ggamer - That's a poor bet. I would never bet large sums of money against brown because he's capable of anything. Especially since Rafa has a history of retiring at Wimbledon
Dustin Brown can easily be the best player on this planet with his power, trickery shots and pulsating athleticism and his smart plays.. But he has to improve on his focus and seriousness and getting into the business by prioritise and focus on winning more than having joyous fun on the court. If he implements these qualities together with his natural talent , Dustin Brown is impregnable and invincible. Easily the Greatest Of All Time.. Way to go “Bob Marley of Tennis” !!!!
Vick Van Waar Sadly it’s too late...
always if he had that and this he would be GOAT......are we forgetting Federer and Sampras already?
Talentwise Brown is the best tennisplayer i have ever seen. Nobody has that feel. Unfortunately he is as consistent as the weather.
Gaël Monfils
I come here after Rafa wins another Roland Garros title....
He had physical issues then. He came back to form in 2017 though. But I don't see if Rafa will complete the 2nd half of this year before his knees give out, again.
srinitaaigaura won us open lmao
Did u home this year? Maybe u should come every year
Brown is a living breathing kinetic chain where momentum is King; the art of tennis!
I can watch this game over and over..
This is the Game people want to watch !!!
The worst match up for Nadal, Dustin made him look like an idiot at times.
Great match and great performance by Dustin Brown!
3:45 "Nadal took the second set" says the narrator, and suddenly no single point of the second set is shown.
D.Brown is a fantastic player
What a terrible match for Nadal! I'm a big fan of Rafa, so when I saw him loose so badly that day, I was devastated. Remember: 2015 was Nadal's black year.
Brown took insane risks all the time and it worked! It is almost impossible to beat that kind of player, when every hit he attempts works. Nadal likes to dictate his own game, his own tempo to his opponents, but that day, he had no other choice than to play Browns game...
Nadal hasn't got past the 4th round of Wimbledon since 2011
cervantes1168 no matter. DUSTIN IS THE GOAT!😂👌
Rafa's serve was poor in 2015. And his confidence took a hit. Today's Rafa would beat that Dustin. And I an a Federer fan. Justin's unpredictability does not suit Rafa. Rafa played great grass court tennis in 2018, and I was rooting for him over Novak, because he was playing more agressive.
2014 year was great year for Nadal he won French open title for sure and finished year ending ranking as No. 3 actually after Djokovic,Roger Federer.
09:51, I've been following pro tennis for about 2 years now, never stepped on a court myself coz it's a pretty expensive sport here in my country, so I might not know much about tennis, but I've never seen anyone toy Nadal like that, the crowd can't hide their smile even though Nadal was the clear crowd favourite in this match.
6 winners before Rafael even got a single point Rafael’s gotta watch what he says in the locker room😂
What did he say?
It's amazing to see how everyone probably went to see Rafa but after that first game, were rooting for Dustin
BROWN IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!
Brown and Nadal are my two favorites of all time
Nadal's forehand here was an utter mess. No real angles, no clean strikes and no winners. Just an abysmal performance from start to finish.
i wouldn't say 'abysmal'...
True, but Brown's game definitely had a hand in it. The mental pressure of having to deal with 70 to 90 mph returns every time wore on him. In addition, Nadal does not have the finesse of Federer to return or redirect fast groundstrokes near his feet.
Aburg lol you serious?
i think Nadal lacks power that brown has, his groundstrokes are very fast the serve too.
Brown dissected Nadal's game like a surgeon doing an appendectomy!
Tennis should be played like this
10:10 he just owns nadal
Oh Lord, Brown's second serve! sinister!
24:48 Welp the match was pretty much “seal”ed at this point.
That was one of the best if not the best opening game by some player of any match in tennis...
Nadal has beaten the GOAT 23 times (Losing only 11 times), and Brown has defeated Nadal twice (And losing none).
Conclusion: Brown=GOAT?
let Brown play on clay/HC, and there will go his greatness
Hacantyo Pradipto Actually Nadal loses 12 times with the GOAT.
still this is way too much
Guilax My bad

I watched this match several times, I love Rafa but Dready is one of the best players at that time , amazing talent with bad luck
Sorry for his soon retirement of singles
9:51 - Nadal: 'ah here we go again'
The very Greatest combination of orthodoxy and unorthodoxy on Planet Tennis ever, highly effective, highly admired, highly entertaining, Dustin Brown a God of Small to Great things in Tennis ! Bravo Dustin💐
25:04 his balls can't believe it
LMFAO!!
I can't believe Dustin Brown didn't get a bunch of endorsements after this match... he really needed some financial support to get the right support team and help with expenses to rise higher. The president of the ATP should've been pumping this guy up for sponsors cause tennis fans have missed out on seeing more extraordinary and captivating tennis from him.
