And for those of us who don't have Ivor's 'Pinky' dexterity that tricky fill at the start can sound the same if you play the high E string open on the D chord followed by strings 2&3.
Love this and what a great lesson as per ivor.. Tried learning this one from another online but his tuition wasn't as accurate or precise as yours.. Keep up the good work sir 👍
Thank you so much for this rendition and tutorial. I can’t believe you can ‘pinky’ that note on the D-chord so easily; I’m finding it impossible to do at present. Other than keep trying, are there finger exercises that will help ? Another way I can think of is to create the D-chord with the Index as a bar, and middle finger on 2nd string D-note, making it easier to pinky the E-note.
Thank you for you comment, glad to hear that you found my lesson helpful. You should be good to go with one of the alternative D chords, probably the index finger barre one. Ivor
This is great, thanks so much for doing this song. A longtime favorite of mine, such fun to be able to play it even a little. One question, there are lots of variant chord charts for this song, none of them seem to include the Caug in the bridge. A couple have an AmM7, which is the same chord shape only includes playing the open A string. From a theoretical perspective (which I don't really have), I wonder how these two names for essentially the same chord affect the interpretation. Obviously not at all to a listener, but to the composer or performer. Thanks again, I'm really learning tons from your channel!
Hi Mark. Glad you enjoyed my lesson. Thank you for your feedback. As for your question, I'm sorry but my music theory is limited as I'm self taught and mainly play by ear so I'm not qualified to advise you. Ivor
Love your style as ever, Ive ! This wouldn’t normally be on my Learn List but Er Indoors has been pestering me to do so as she’s requesting it. Thanks to your customary clarity I reckon I can knock it off over the weekend and move onto something I want to do. (Any joy with Lindsey Buckingham…?) No. In seriousness this has some interesting chords so that’s fine. Incidentally, when you play the opening few C Chords, am I correct in stating you are also playing the third fret of the 6th string?
Yes, I am playing a 'C' with the 3rd fret of the 6th string fretted. It's a 'C' with 'G' in the bass or C/G. I play my 'C' chord most of the time like this as you can strum all 6 strings and it sounds fuller. Enjoy your weekend learning this one. Ivor
Thank you Ivor. Very helpful. Enjoy your weekend too. Guitar will be my priority for the foreseeable…. just can’t take the disappointment of watching our footballers and cricketers make such a pigs ear of things. Music NEVER lets me down.
Great stuff as always my man....thanks...
