When I got my first cheap tablet in July 2022, new cheap phone in October 2022, I noticed that TikTok was pre- downloaded on the device s made in China. I immediately uninstalled it, it was still there, I had to tried a few more times to finally got rid of TikTok. I never have any desire to look at it, zero curiosity! I don't have FB, Tweeter while I was teaching in China from 2009-2013 because it was blocked there. After I return to CA, I still don't have the need to get on social media. Everyone asked for my WhatsApp number, I still told them I don't have it. The only apps for me is Instagram and TH-cam for my own travel journey. The trick to not let social media dictate our life are Follow people, topics which are meaningful for you, the less the better. I follow a few close friends and mostly brands, companies for work inspiration. I don't need to know who eats or drink what. Turn off TH-cam Auto play function, it will save your life when I click don't recommend, or not interested+ the dislike button, I don't see the algorithm recommends the topics anymore.
There are some benefits, but the consequences completely outweigh the benefits of social media. It is destroying society. It the worlds achilles’ heel. It’s bad for mental health, and brain development in kids. I can honestly say, the world would have been a much nicer place if social media never existed. And that is a hill I’m willing to die on.
An even better idea is to simply delete all of your social media accounts. I did this 4 years ago. It was tough the first couple of weeks. I deleted them after a trial run of just removing the apps. It was one of the best feelings I’ve ever had and I have never looked back.
I've done this with FB and IG and I still have tiktok but not on my phone. I feel more at peace, I'm not living to constantly snap pictures and upload them. I also don't feel the need to keep up with anybody because I don't know anyone's business. It's so great.
@@Wazupiseeyou it's different because you don't feel the pressure to upload and share everything you do in life. You also don't get bombarded with pictures of people you once knew.
Even with deleting social media, a smart phone will pull you in - email notifications, game notifications, mindlessly trying to find something to do through your phone instead of doing something like reading. It’s an endless cycle.
No these people don't get it, it just shows they either don't know how to use their tech or have no self control. Apps can be not used/uninstalled or in settings can turn the internet access off to the phone.
My mom is 86. She always struggled with her smartphone, complaining it "did too much" plus she'd always click on way more stuff than she realized and would get horribly lost. We got her a flip phone last year and she's been thrilled with it. She'll love hearing she's right on trend! (OK actually she won't give a damn about being trendy. LOL She'll just appreciate the "common sense" of it)
If it's a 4G LTE phone, the phone will essentially be useless it by 2030 when LTE is shut off to make way for 6G. If that ever happens since apparently America wants to go to war with China by 2025.
@@MissJK_ I was born in 2004 and while I do grew up during the Internet and cell phone days, I'm actually thankful I don't carry a electronic device when I was younger, and I didn't even get a smartphone, let alone wanting one, until early 2017. I'm also fortunate TikTok didn't exist when I was in elementary school. I used to spend my days watching TV instead of fiddling around with a smart device. I rather have that over ShitTok.
not me but then it was suuuch a hassle always having to have change for payphones or call ppl "collect" lol (or use phone cards!) besides I always wanted a pocket computer for geeky reasons (as well as a portable TV!), & loved the idea of taking pics whenever I felt inspired but funsavers could only do 27 or so limiting my choices in creativity, & I wdve swooned at the potential of having all the cuteness of everything I love always on hand, be it gifs (moving!! pictures!! STILL so amazing to me) or *fanvids* & ALL my fave music & video clips & so on at my fingertips.. really, anyone being overwhelmed by their devices probably just needs to reassess their own usage & personal goals, cuz yeah pocket PCs may not be for everyone, but I am soooo glad they exist! (as well as high speeds, good coverage) ♡
I remember the coin phones.where you put pocket change in phones. They used to have them in malls outside stores restaurant's hospitals and other places.
@@alexcholagh8330 the pay phones you mean lol. I was born in '96 so i remember using those and getting paranoid because of the the germs on it I remember the beepers/pagers too.
As a 90s kid, I grew up without social media. I couldn't imagine the trauma I would have experienced having access to social media as a young child. My first introduction to social media was Myspace during my sophomore year. By then, my friend groups were well established. I can't imagine the trauma I would have gone through had we been on social media throughout our school years. It was hard enough navigating through the awkwardness of puberty and many, many embarrassing moments that could have been recorded and posted for all to see.
But only flip phones that support Voice over LTE (VoLTE). Older feature phones may soon become useless because cellphone carriers are starting to turn off CDMA and GSM digital cellular support.
This is so true 😂 but us millennials had it rough. Going from nothing, to black and white computers to dial up internet with ask Jeeves then to google and TH-cam ... From Nokia bricks to these fancy phones... And owning laptops It's crazy. I miss my rotary phone, wooden tv and Nokia brick texting with multi tap before t9 came out.
I get your point. But how else do you get a message out to others who are still only using tiktok, right? I personally think, if they're using social media to tell others, then they should make a few posts about it to hopefully go viral or reach some people, then ditch short-form or phone-based content as soon as possible afterward Gotta work from the inside outward to inform others, really - how else will they hear about it? Besides, it's good for this stuff to be trendy or even just a fad so that we get to a point eventually where we either have an underground subculture that's better off at minimum (which has happened), or more ideally EVERYONE jumps on it, at least for a while, and then they're all better off for the experience! Doesn't hurt at least, but it *can* really be helpful for many people. BTW, this 'trend' seems to have been going strong for the past 3 years or so (same with vinyls). So that's pretty cool!
Imagine a world where Apple makes its own flip-phone with heavily limited features to follow this trend. Like intentionally dumbing down their own technology. It’s not even impossible at this point.
@progressive2024 there are pros and cons to wired headphones. For some Bluetooth headphones the battery lasts longer when using a cord. Also you get full lossless audio when wired in compared to Bluetooth. You also probably have a pretty stable connection to a wired set of headphones compared to Bluetooth. Bluetooth being wireless is great though snd is in many ways more convenient
tbh i’m glad i’m not the only one thinking about this. the annoying thing is that it’s pretty much impossible to fully get rid of all the addictive stuff on smartphones because they’re fundamentally designed to be addictive and you can’t get rid of them because then ever from my family to my school will be piss at me for being unreachable
That is a really good point... and a tough one. I wonder if there's a way to keep our androids/iPhone and set them up like a more basic phone where it's used for talk/text, email, voicemail, and info portals but have all the social media apps completely off the phone? I'm older so I remember home phones, answering machines & NO cell phones! It was more peaceful. You returned people's calls after hours/same with family. If you were out of the house, you were out!!! You would need an understanding family nowadays if you tried it that way for a while. 😉
Smartphones are not that addictive to the point you can't answer important phone calls and text messages. If you disable and uninstall things, block things, then things won't become too addictive on your phone.
@@carriebradley7634 you can absolutely do that on android, for the basic, you can switch your system launcher to minimalist launchers like niagara or apps, and next thing you want to do, you can delete the unimportant apps or hide them, and turn off all the unimportant notifications
Yesss!! I was just googling my old flip phones a week ago, not knowing this was even trending. I miss my old Razr with the built-in iTunes button. It was a great phone!
I got rid of my smart phone about five years ago. I do not miss it at all. Also, flip phones are not 90s, only. I feel like they were common until 2008ish. Just a reminder how quick things changed and how long we've been trying this experiment.
I would love to get on this bandwagon. The only challenge is access to useful information such as google map etc. I travel a lot. I am scared of not being able to navigate.
@T check put the cat s22. It is a flip phone that runs Android. This means you can still have fully functioning Google maps and music, but won't be tempted to scroll through social media/ constantly each videos as it is extremely inconvenient and non practical. Not to mention it's very durable
I cut social media apps from my phone and it was LIFE CHANGING!! I’ve been off social media for about 6 months now and I am the happiest I’ve ever been.
@@AmandaLovesOldFords I never said it was exactly the same. Just saying it’s considered social media as in it pretty much has a lot of the same elements as a Facebook, instagram, even twitter.. These elements include sharing opinions with other people, uploading your life’s events, and watching other people’s life events.. Different format of course, but same foundation. I cut Facebook and instagram out of my life almost completely years ago. But I find myself on TH-cam just as much as I was on those other sites nowadays. So, just as CNN and TMZ different formats of media, they’re still media if that makes sense..
I'm a 33 yo millennial and considered getting a flip phone over the summer, but then I remembered you gotta press 7 four times just to get the letter S.
the amt of hard button pressing, omg the main prob for me even tho I'd love to have an actual flip phone for just phone calls (because I love using GS7 as just a computer) is that the available models nowadays are SO CRAP there are NONE I like that are decent, they are clunky, ugly & ~complicated.. my fave fancy one was the Sanyo Katana Eclipse X & the best super BASIC was Kyocera Kona (the best buttons both in feel & layout & options really) ♡
All I did was delete social media a few years ago and that seemed to work for me. The only thing I have now is TH-cam which still isn’t great but it’s much better. At first I felt like I was missing out on things but then I realized I don’t need to know what’s going on with the world and everyone around me all of the time
I just did this starting end of December. Don’t feel like I’m experiencing jealousy or stress trying to compare my life to everyone else’s. I’d say I’m content
Yeah i also realized that i don't have to know everything that is going on in the world, i even feel like knowing all the things from the internet is what gives me anxiety and mood swings all the time, now i can just mind my own business and enjoy my life
Yup. Last social media I had was MySpace and after that I’ve only really used TH-cam. I love my phone. And it helps a lot with grocery pickup and gps and price checking at stores and what not. But I think flip phones are so cute. ❤
I love this! I can’t help but notice how many people don’t live in the moment when I’m out and about. This is why I always make an effort to not be on my phone when out with friends or doing an activity.
why not just use a smartphone but uninstall the apps that cost you your mental health? i get that insta, facebook, twitter and also youtube can be draining, but people will never understand what an improvement it is to be able to call people all around the world via whatsapp or signal and not worry about every minute of it costing you your dime.
@@k.b2457 I agree with both of you, both of you are absolutely right and everything depends on the person and their ability to refrain from opening their social networks at all times. I'm currently 50 years old and believe me I never liked those "Clam Shell" phones, I have always been a fan of the "bar" type. But if the issue of the mental health of today's young people is so serious because they have an iPhone or Android and then they decide to take this type of Clam Shell phones as an alternative, bravo to them. Btw I like the current phones but I always got control over social networks and WhatsApp I only use it for urgent and precise things, like calls, short but substantial, Facebook very little and I rarely go there, Instagram right now I try to spend a lot of time, that social network is absorbing and if I'm on the street, believe me, I don't use the phone only when I'm inside a closed area, which can be a house or a store and/or perhaps a mall, because thieves are lurking. IMHO!
Yeah but it’s like a recovering alcoholic going to a bar every day and not drinking. Weak moments will happen when you’re struggling and the temptation is there. You could simply save yourself the stress and relapse by removing temptation.
@@jeremiahallyn4603 I now changed my mind. This is Luddism. And it will be here to stay. My guess is that technological advances such as Ai are going to polarize society in this issue in ways that we can’t imagine.
I a iphonev13, I loathe this ridiculous phone. Been Apple products since 2000, loved them. Now, they smashed it, more things on iphone than a 10 people can use. IPhone Uses Us! Apple is most intrusive company after Google. Do not use it as browser never again. Well utube? I do not need to make a phone call!
Been using a flip since last July. Also off any social media apps and only using whatsapp to stay in touch with those closest to me. The experience has been humbling and also grounding. The change keeps me in the now and more in tune with my environment. Also the 20$ phone bill is a perk.
This is really responsible and I’m impressed gen z would do this. At best I could go back to a flip phone with a full keyboard, like the LG env3 I had in 8th grade. Had the Razr before, but it was a nightmare to text with.
My sister and I thought about buying flip phones like 4 years ago! It's awesome our generation is using flip phone, especially for our mental health. I deleted all my social media accounts and that helped my mental health.
I've actually thought about this, but wasn't aware it was becoming a thing. I'm a millennial, but didn't get a smart phone until 2014. I love it mainly for the gps and app capability. I try to stay off social media in general. But yeah, I sometimes wish I could revert to a 'dumb' phone. The iphone can be such a time suck. I always loved the flip phones lol
📱 These flip phones were nearly the only trending option when I was 18yrs old & life was simpler for all. No added stress, no unnecessary internet pressure, no emojis, gifs, or any other BS we use for comms today. Back then, we called, spoke, & hung up. People barely texted 20+yrs ago. Real conversation was held!
And as far as conversation goes researchers are finding out that a lot of young people today have trouble with face to face conversation. They're so used to texting, messaging, email, etc. as a means of communication that actually talking to someone is becoming more and more foreign to them.
@@AmandaLovesOldFords 😌 you’re right…I forgot we didn’t have unlimited data plans either. That was good for our mental health though 😄. Kinda hard not to appreciate simplicity of times. Nothing wrong with tech; some of us just abuse & overuse it.
I have a friend who did this- she's happy. M thinking of it. She said she saves MONEY no impulse shopping, she's more PRODUCTIVE- and calmer! And more time with friends! "Smart Phones" what a brilliant marketing name??? Right??
I think as a millennial, its great for tech detox and for the nostalgia. Those Razr phones that you can decorate with jewels or stickers. It’s awesome we’re bringing flip phones back!!!
It’s just about self-control. As someone in their mid-30s, staying away from social media is easier these days, because I’m realizing how toxic it is. Personally, I like using my phone moreso to keep up with the news and knowing what’s going on in the world. Much better than getting constant validation on Instagram.
I agree with you. Though I've noticed I tend to get hooked on reading news stories on my phone way too easily, and lose a lot of time to it, so self-control for me is avoiding using a smart phone for reading/watching the news. Lately I prefer to either read/watch news on my computer, watch it on television, or use some other means aside from my phone. I do think it can be useful for others to be able to check news on their smart phone though. They definitely shouldn't replace smart phones with flip phones,; just keep flip phones a viable option for modern day :)
I love this. I would be fine with a flip. But I will say that I deleted all of my social media years ago and I’m so much better and happier in my daily life. Less drama, I know my actual friends and talk to my actual family. My time with my partner isn’t shared with random messages or invites from social media people who would never have even become a second thought without social media linking and hooking up online with and searching for. Get rid of it, focus on your real life and the people right next to you,
Back before kpop was internationally known like it is today, there was a music video by BigBang and 2NE1 about the newest flip phone at that time that was called the "Lollipop." It was such a cute phone. I miss the days when people used to be excited about just having cute flip phones to call people on instead of smartphones to melt their brains on. :/
People do not realize that you can easily turn those notifications off for social media. I have done it numerous times. You can also put your smart phone on do not disturb if you do not want to deal with anybody.
It's no different than people who get addicted to their computers or gaming consoles. You don't need a flip phone, you just need to re-learn self control. They have built-in features now to remind you to limit your screen time... use them, follow them. The biggest issue is social media... delete those apps and you'll probably feel less addicted and more productive.
I was born in Gen Z, pretty much everyone in my school including me uses social media and has an iPhone. I’m sure it contributes to mental health issues, I think social media has affected my mental health as well. I’m considering deleting or simply leaving most of my social media.
Honestly, i am on the same boat with you because the iPhone seems to be updating more and more and tending a lot which is making people more and more jealous. We should just all have a flip phone. Also sometimes i think social media could be a huge distractions. I should probably delete my instagram for a week and login back in to see haa 😅
My substitute teacher who's 72 now still uses a flip phone and he only actually upgraded to a 4G flip last year after having a 3G flip for a long time.
@@rayvega3163- the 4G move was a forced switch last year lol for most ppl anyways cuz the remaining 3G lines were being turned off, so everyone had to get new compatible devices & be transferred to 4G services.. it was crazy x.x
Hopefully while taking time away from social media they actively work on the root problem.. They need to get to the point where social media isn't going to affect their mental health.
Zoomer reporting in. Don't think I would ever do this. I'm not on social media, but I need my phone to rideshare, navigate, listen to music, use as an eReader, and Google pressing questions/topics that come up in my daily life. Most of those use cases could be replaced by separate devices, like a GPS, iPod, etc., but that would be inefficient and wasteful. You don't need to switch to a flip phone to practice digital minimalism. I know it's hard to just quit social media apps cold turkey, but there's many intermediate steps you can take before resorting to a flip phone so that you don't lose the actually beneficial aspects of owning a smartphone. For example, using black and white filters and setting timers can be helpful in reducing your social media consumption.
I remember when my smartphone broke one month after a breakup and I swear that the month I was using a dumb phone helped me heal faster from the breakup. It really focused to listen to my brain and be forced to feel the chaos I had inside. Soon after, I joined therapy. Of it wasn't for the month with a dumb phone, I'd probably keep online to distract myself or stalking my ex 😅
I’m a millennial, I got my first cell phone at 13 years old and it was a flip phone. Now as a 29 year old, I miss using them, I miss going back to that time. Where a cell phone was just meant to talk to people and very rarely text. Definitely no Internet access or anything like that. Seeing how smart phones are today were we now pretty much use them just for entertainment, texting, web searching and investments, I don’t blame people who want to use flip phones again. I might go back to it eventually.
sounds like they're used for nostalgic reasons. But I think flip phones should be given to children around 8-16. Mainly just to test their liabilities and also to limit the use of data and to stay in touch in case of emergency calls.
Honestly, I never minded my slide out keyboard phone but as the years went on, it got old and it was hard to find these phones so in 2014, I got my first smartphone.
Yes! I hope they come back, and I’m thinking this year I’m getting one. Battery lasts longer, weigh less and i can drop it several times and won’t break. I miss my old flip phone, I miss not having the overwhelming feeling of checking social media.
I remember having a flip phone before I got a smart phone and originally I was super hesitant to make the switch and if I am being honest I have been missing my flip since! When I get rid of my current phone, I am going back to flip and never turning back!!
I have deleted all social media except TH-cam so many times. For the first week I legitimaty go into withdrawal. But then... life gets better. I read books, I learn things, I deep clean my house, I dance around in the living room with my children to music. I feel at peace. I always end up going back, usually when something stressful happens to take my mind off of it, and all the horror returns. Constantly checking my phone like a legitimate addiction. I develop anxiety over the world ad the people in it. I fear EVERYTHING. I worry for my children's safety. My stress levels climb to a level where recently I have been having chest pains. I need to delete it all again. As soon as I do, it all goes away 😞
I'm a Millennial. I grew up with TV, video games, and later the Internet. Regardless of how you feel about these things, making all of them fully available on a very portable device designed to be addictive which then also replaces functional items like your alarm clock, was a terrible idea. I never have liked smartphones. I have seen people that never cared for the Internet on a computer and never touched any kind of video game turn into smartphone addicts..while still thinking that they were barely on their phone. I got a smartphone in 2019. I hate the thing and am getting a dumbphone for my birthday in October.
The golden age of social media is over. While social media may become less important or even go extinct (unlikely for the later)z However the idea that the internet will go away is wishful thinking. It’s not realistic. It plays too much of a role in lives and work now and getting rid of it is not practical.
the problem is actually social media, i used a dumbphone for a while but it's almost useless because you need qr codes, apps for transportation, apps on school, etc. i deleted all my social media and my screen time dropped to like one or two hours. smartphones are awesome, the problem is the addictive algorithm of social media.
Right! The only thing I have on my phone are apps I use at restaurants, Amazon, email, and a game. My screen time averages about 1.5 hours a week. I deleted all of my social media apps since I rarely go on them anymore. There’s only so much sensory information the brain can handle.
I’ll pass. Sounds like more of a social media addiction. I’ve been using computers and the internet since the windows 95 era, a portable computer was a dream for me. A smart phone is a tool, use it to your advantage.
Same here. I have a smartphone but I only use it for texting and calls. I have a notebook that I use for most other things and an HP touchscreen that I use for photos and videos. People should use their electronics like they do their kitchen appliances. Each has its own purpose. No more, no less. I don't try to freeze food in the microwave or wash dishes in the fridge. People really need to learn self-control.
The problem with that trend is that we go to flip phones for mental health sake and instead of getting to the root of WHY our mental health is struggling we simply put a trendy bandaid on it. Then once the flip phone season is over, everyone gets back on social media without addressing any real issues and then the cycle continues.
What I'm saying people tend to follow what the young people are doing and shoving everything down everyone throats just like these ridiculous skinny 👖 and tight 👕 once they see an opportunity that's relevant they'll switch back I think it's their own fault for not realizing and not getting help and copying what everyone else is doing I noticed all I see young people do nowadays is copy each other and following what's in or trendy or not in thank God I was born in 89 so it was diffrent for our generation back than
Oh god! I am literally feeling to cry for my good old Sony Ericsson phone. It was a bar phone with no camera; just calling, texting, games and FM radio. Life was so meaningful back then.....
I'm from gen Z(sad but true) and as a little kid, I remember seeing flip phones a lot not just in real life but on TV. By the time I was reaching the pre-teen/teen years, I noticed kids my age, younger or older than me with smart phones in hand. I never had a phone at all during my school days. You heard that right! A gen Zer that had no phone while going to school. 😂 I got my first phone when I was 19 as by then, I already had a job a month after graduating high school.
Just get rid of social media, I 100% guarantee you will be so much happier, I’m a 25 woman who hasn’t used social media for over 3 years now and my life is so much better
I'm a Gen X. Never embraced social media nor do I Tweet. Not a Luddite, but always looked at the web as utilitarian. DIY videos, research, and general entertainment. Like right now watching this video on the front screen of my Razr 5g👍Life is about balance. When friends or family reach out it's mainly by phone. It's more enjoyable and less chance of misunderstanding a DM 🤔
The only thing I hated about flip phones is the texting. It's like I'm using a terrible calculator. Good thing about it was I didn't have to focus on news and TH-cam. No Viber, Instagram, WhatsApp and no FB notifications even though my FB page hasn't been updated in 5 years.
🤦♀Whatever happened to impulse control? I have a "smart" phone. Know what I use it for. Texting and calls. That's it. It came with apps installed and I turned them off. I haven't added any apps to it. Period. It only does what YOU allow it to do.
Right, I just deactivate my social medias so I don't get distracted with messages and notifs. Glad these Gen Z are taking actions to their health. When I started doing it 4 years ago, it's elevating to my mood. Having no social media gives you more priorities.
“Every single problem we have a night out, everything that leads us to crying is on our phones.” As a millennial… this is a very much so a surface overview/perspective. It’s truly about what and who you entertain in and throughout your life. Find some maturity, discipline and discernment to filter out what is of no substance and value in your life.. flip phones are still smart phones… your range is just limited… so after your weekly intermittent usage.. do you get back on your “regular” smart phone and cry all night?…how about you limit your usage of social media apps.. and research getting involved in your community and community advocation, animal rescue… or just Read a book… lol I can’t.
riight?? they are just pocket computers! ~laptops in the palm of your hand, lol you don't need to be a slave to them & I don't get why everyone blames the tools & apps when it's moreso the ~attitudes around them that's unhealthy.. sure they are addictive- like anything can be! but if you really want a different life, then make better choices ie I kno watching miserable media makes my mood turn ~dark so I try to focus on uplifting & joyful things instead.. ♡
We see this with a good friend her son, he is 13 and sometimes smells like stool because he doesn't want to get to the toilet and only make levels in games. He gets to bed with a tablet and wake up with it. This is a problem.
I loved my Razor. Miss it. So glad I didn’t grow up with this toxic culture of smart phones. But reverting back to a flip phone indicates weakness. All you have to do is delete all your twitter, instagram, facebook, tik tok and other lame social media accounts. The only thing I have is TH-cam and use it for news for an hour here and there when I want more information on something. Not sure why its so hard to do this.
Man, Ive been saying to all the people my age that flip phones are best (Im 16) I learned that when I had one as a younger child, after telling my parents that I didn't want the smartphone they had bought me at age 10. I now have an iPhone, but I would switch in a heartbeat.
Since I am required to edit my time cards, a traditional keypad flip phone would mean, I gotta punch arrows and numbers covert to letters a bunch of time. That will not work for me.
Flip phones aren't from the 90s Edit: CORRECTION, THE type of flip phones I grew up with aren't from the 90s but they ARE from the 90s. It's always good to know.
my thought exactly lol they started out with huge stiff chunky beasts then added a bottom-only flip, I could've sworn that the full flips only came out later after 2000 but, maybe the ~richer ppl had them first in the 90s just like some ppl back then actually had flat TVs! (yes they did exist too but only in the top ~swankiest of setups loool)
This is what my mom was on awhile and she a boomer. She was basically forced to use smart phones as they phased out flip phones. Now she uses smart phones and now this comes out 😅
I recommend the jelly 2. It is a tiny smartphone. It keeps you off your phone because it's not as satisfying but if you needed to use an app you still can. You could swap back and forth between your regular phone if you use a sim card. The reason it's better than a flip phone for me is because i use music streaming, driving apps, use coupons at stores, gas price apps, etc. So there are good things about carrying a smart phone.
It definitely has had a negative impact on me. Im alot more impatient/ distracted. I feel like I did much better in school without it and was content with my life before social media😅
I've also noticed a lot of people getting rid of their social media accounts. Guess people are finally realizing how pointless social media is.
Especially Twitter that app is toxicity for your mental health.

I get your point. But how else do you get a message out to others who are still only using tiktok, right? I personally think, if they're using social media to tell others, then they should make a few posts about it to hopefully go viral or reach some people, then ditch short-form or phone-based content as soon as possible afterward
Gotta work from the inside outward to inform others, really - how else will they hear about it?
And then charging $700 for it

I agree with you. Though I've noticed I tend to get hooked on reading news stories on my phone way too easily, and lose a lot of time to it, so self-control for me is avoiding using a smart phone for reading/watching the news. Lately I prefer to either read/watch news on my computer, watch it on television, or use some other means aside from my phone. Right! The only thing I have on my phone are apps I use at restaurants, Amazon, email, and a game. My screen time averages about 1.5 hours a week. I deleted all of my social media apps since I rarely go on them anymore. There’s only so much sensory information the brain can handle.
This is weird as I had a huge breakdown due to feeling my life is virtual . I'm going buy a flip phone
The fact she posted on TikTok about coming off social media..the irony.
@@MattD32500the government 😂
All you need to do is delete all social media apps. I've been off for 3 years. Its an addiction but after a week or two you don't care anymore.
The problem with that trend is that we go to flip phones for mental health sake and instead of getting to the root of WHY our mental health is struggling we simply put a trendy bandaid on it. Then once the flip phone season is over, everyone gets back on social media without addressing any real issues and then the cycle continues.
What I'm saying people tend to follow what the young people are doing and shoving everything down everyone throats just like these ridiculous skinny 👖 and tight 👕 once they see an opportunity that's relevant they'll switch back I think it's their own fault for not realizing and not getting help and copying what everyone else is doing I noticed all I see young people do nowadays is copy each other and following what's in or trendy or not in thank God I was born in 89 so it was diffrent for our generation back than
@@Jac735 so you're a millenial that sounds like a boomer...?
@@Jac735 man, I wear skinny jeans 😂. But I totally understand what you are saying. Balance is all I'm promoting in ALL areas of life.
I got my first phone when I was 19 as by then, I already had a job a month after graduating high school.
I miss my phone that slid up to reveal a full keyboard. Damn, that thing was so satisfying.
I’ve been having this on my mind for the last couple of years, I want my flip phone back so bad
Just get rid of social media, I 100% guarantee you will be so much happier, I’m a 25 woman who hasn’t used social media for over 3 years now and my life is so much better
I've been trying to get the landline trend back with no success 💔
Can’t wait for dial up internet to make a comeback. We also need record players to come back.
You don’t need a flip phone , you need to prioritize what’s important in your life.
So the first thing they do is go on tiktok to brag about using a flip phone?
The only thing I hated about flip phones is the texting. It's like I'm using a terrible calculator. Good thing about it was I didn't have to focus on news and TH-cam. No Viber, Instagram, WhatsApp and no FB notifications even though my FB page hasn't been updated in 5 years.
Lots of creeps and narcissists on Instagram. It's one of the main reasons i got rid of it like 6 years ago.
It’s nice to see. I feel like the newer phone companies have become
Predatory and could give less about your mental health sadly.
“Every single problem we have a night out, everything that leads us to crying is on our phones.”
As a millennial… this is a very much so a surface overview/perspective.
Same . I’m glad to see that there’s a lot of people in the comments that are deleting their social media.
You know what also works? Self control and not giving a single care about stupid likes on social media.
I took a year break from my iPhone in 2014-2015 and used a flip phone and absolutely loved it
Flip phones aren't from the 90s
Edit: CORRECTION, THE type of flip phones I grew up with aren't from the 90s but they ARE from the 90s.
Flip phones : you could not live with your upgrades and status seeking. Where did that bring you? back to me
I'm in my twenties and I've never had a smartphone - flip phones are what I prefer, and I will *never* change
My first phone was the Motorola RAZR in 2005 or 2006, I believe. lol I remember how excited I was, even though I was a very young adult by that point.
This is what my mom was on awhile and she a boomer. She was basically forced to use smart phones as they phased out flip phones.
Now she uses smart phones and now this comes out 😅
im millennium japanese and i will never go back to smartphone again
I recommend the jelly 2. It is a tiny smartphone. It keeps you off your phone because it's not as satisfying but if you needed to use an app you still can. You could swap back and forth between your regular phone if you use a sim card. The reason it's better than a flip phone for me is because i use music streaming, driving apps, use coupons at stores, gas price apps, etc. So there are good things about carrying a smart phone.
As they post on Social Media! 🤣🤣🤣
It definitely has had a negative impact on me. Im alot more impatient/ distracted. I feel like I did much better in school without it and was content with my life before social media😅
Saw this coming a mile away. I have such a love/hate relationship with my smart phone.
