The top pattern is called "Celeste Dress" by Itch to Stitch. - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
You make joy out of frustration, and that is inspiration for the rest of us. You’ll adjust the sleeve width, tuck here/there and be more happy when you repeat the pattern. Thanks for showing us where fit needs to be better.
This was super informative, Joy! I can safely say that I will never sew a PDF pattern; you gave a balanced critique of pros & cons and I really enjoyed it! Love your pretty blue floral fabric! As always, love your wit and wisdom and total watchability!💕
Oh you are missing out!! They are so good! The itch to stitch patterns are drafted amazing and her instructions are spot on! I have had such issues with the Big 4 that I only sew independent patterns. 😂 The projectors make PDF patterns so easy. PDF plotting is also a good service if you don't want to print out at home. ♥
Did you notice the layering option for printing so you don’t have to print all the sizes? I love using it.
Oh, that is so cute on you! I thought it was a dress, I like the length, and pockets! Please make more of them. I am having a hard time finding cotton knits. Have a great day. 😊
I'm old school. I don't care for PDF's, I want my pattern complete in an envelope.
I love when you post a video. I almost exclusively use pdf patterns. The first one was daunting, but now I can print and make adjustments very quickly. 😊 you probably need a size or two smaller for your shoulders and arms. I really like that pattern as a top.
Yes, I’d like it if you made another Celeste and show us what you consider the tricky bits! That Celeste top is so sweet!
Joy, the top,is so cute! Please make the pattern in a dress later, I’m sure it would be adorable.
Joy, your Itch to Stitch top is really cute.
Would love to see you make the dress.
🧵❤️
Glad to see you're getting all squared away at the new house. Things are looking great. Nice makes as well, but then I love all your garments. I have been away and very stressed lately. My daughter who is 43 got diagnosed with Ovarian cancer that had matasized to part of her liver, omentum and diaphragm stage 4. We are blessed to have the money to be able to pay for the travel and 10 day stay as our city does not have a surgeon to perform her surgeries. They did a complete hysterectomy, removed part of her liver and all of the omentum. Next is Biopsy of both breasts and chemo. She is home now but in a lot of pain which is understandably hence the surgery she went through. I was shocked when I saw the incision..it starts just under the middle of her breasts and ends just under the belly button. It was nice to come home and escape a few hours and watch your smiling face Joy!
Oh my. I'm so sorry you are having such health issues with your dear daughter. I will pray. God bless you as you love and care for her through this process, and I pray that God heals her completely after the doctors do all they can do.
@@Joy4650B Thank you so much Joy your prayers mean everything right now.
🙏🏻❤️
You are so good. I love to watch your snippets. I’m going to check out that pattern. I haven’t made any clothes for at least 26 years so this will be a challenge!
I have that same fabric in both the blue and the pink. The plan is to make summer skirts out of it. I always enjoy your videos!
I love the style of this dress but haven’t made it. Thanks for all the tips…neck facing, arm size, interfacing, etc. It’s cute on you.
Joy, I love Indie patterns over the big 4. There are pro’s and con’s with all, but I’ve learned to just enjoy the process of taping and studying each piece as I go. I usually cut out each piece as soon as it’s completed. That way I’m not dealing with the entire pattern taped. I seldom print out directions and just download them. If it’s a pattern that will be a tnt one, I will print and save. My indie patterns all hang on hooks and easy to find. Enjoyed this snippet and top is great on you.
I just brought the Celeste dress pattern from Itch to Stitch and have printed out the pages. Love to see what it looks like on you. Cute! Love the fabric, too.
I was about to watch another video on another channel but got sidetracked by Joy’s video. Love listening to her stories🌷
I think I've been so used to watching you do your sewing in that large room with all of your fabric
I always love watching your videos. I learn so much from you. fyi I’ve been sewing a very long time. An old dog can always learn to new tricks!
I certainly agree with you Mary. I love to learn new ways to do things.
Talk about learning....Nancy Zimmerman videos are popular again, and she has an interesting way to make a sway back adjustment--redrawing the back neckline. What's old can be new?
I wish I could take some time to be so organized like you.
I always trace the pattern after taping and doing the alterations on the traced copy.
What a cute to Joy! And love that material too 💙
Printing, cutting and taping of PDF patterns is why I bought a projector…. There is a learning curve for setup, but I think it is better than the taping, etc. there are You tube channels about Projector Sewing. Also printing the A0 files at Staples and online services does make a difference too, if you prefer paper. I found one online that is cheaper than Staples, but I can’t remember the name of it. I need to try making a pattern from Itch to Stitch…. Have bought a few but haven’t tried one yet.
I always send mine to the copy shop. I hate to tape those papers 😊
Love the pattern on you, fabric so cute. I would love to. Make one. I feel your pain with taping, I pay for copy shop sheets now, much better. 😊
You probably know this but if you use layers on Adobe , you can then print just the size you need. Love Itch To Stitch patterns - she has wonderful directions.
I have had pdf patterns printed at Staples, PDF plotting. But my new favorite is The Plotted Pattern. They will print on tissue paper, translucent paper, or regular paper using the AO files that come with most pdf patterns. They will also print instructions in a variety of formats if you want that as well. They send them folded and in their own pattern envelope.
Awesome. How much does that cost?
Hi Joy, missed you.
I love that blue fabric and that is a super cute dress/top pattern! It looks like it will be a super fit once you take take up that excess armpit fabric. That is a great color on you. I don't think I will ever buy an indie pattern. I can't be bothered printing pieces and taping them together. There are plenty of big four patterns to play with.
You are right about plenty of other patterns, but actually, in my huge stash, I did not find a single one with pockets like that pattern had. That was the main attraction.
@@Joy4650B It's amazing no matter how many patterns or fabrics we have in our stash we NEVER have what we need. It's crazy how that happens!
Love the top on you. I might have to get it. There are some if the pattern sites that you can have them printed. I tried Office Depot and was charged $12 for 1 pattern. Hope some of the pattern sites might be cheaper. It does make it lots easier than cut. & tape.
Joy, I absolutely despise taping patterns. You probably already know about this but I email the file to a copy shop and they either mail it back to me or if I use Fed-Ex I email in the file and go pick it up. It comes on huge paper and it is so convenient. Most of the Indi patterns have that option now.
Joy, the blouse looks nice on you. Thank you for sharing your experience.
That is a cute top
Hey JOY, I’m so proud you kept my mini pouch and it’s on your new house, which is beautiful. I do hope Jerry will sell the other. It would be so good, for y’all. I haven’t been writing I had an accident. I was making seafood gumbo and the roux popped out with the spoon and hit me in the hand. I ended up with 3rd degree burns, on my right hand and had to be rushed to the burn unit. I missed your videos. I had to batch watch them. I love your top and the dress you made out of knit is adorable on you. JOY I was so happy you are doing things with your sister. It made my heart ❤️ so happy for you. U definitely bring JOY to all of us. Love girl much and always Kris
Oh Kris! How terrible that you burned yourself so badly. I hope it won't keep you from all the crafting you love to do. Of course I kept your little pouch. It is full of pennies, and I use it for a weight when I sew. I love it and I also love the heart coaster you made me. It is here on my nightstand.
@@Joy4650B JOY you are so kind so sweet. Yes this was killing me. When it happened I screamed bloody murder. I hope I can get back to my sewing and crocheting soon. My sister was here with me watching your video and Gretchen said my goodness JOY has lost so much weight. I thought so too. U looked so pretty in your new dress. I love your videos girl. Since the accident I’ve been watching a lot of TH-cam. Love ❤️ you. Kris
Joy that blue top is so good on you. Enjoy all that you do even if it’s not sewing related.
Cute top
Cute cute top
Cute top!
Hey Miss Joy. Love your blue top. That color is beautiful on you. Praying y’all are doing well. God bless y’all! ❤😀
Joy, if this pattern has a layers function in Adobe, you can just print off your size and also one size below and one size above, then trace it off, makes it much easier :) The top is very cute
I explained that in this video.
sorry I missed that @@Joy4650B
The itch to stitch pattern is very cute and the colour really suits
What a cute top! I also love the dark floral top you are wearing in one of the latter 'snippets'.... your lipstick is lovely- so pretty! Sending love to you and Jerry from NC~
Hi Joy. I like your pink dress and your blue shirt. Glad to hear Jerry is feeling better. Thanks for the advice on the Itch n Stich pattern.
I have a few of Itch-to-Stitch patterns and have not made any yet. You've inspired me, again, to get out the pattern and have at it! Thank you!
Looks great on you and love the color
Joy, you can take the digital large format version of the pattern on a USB to your local copy store and they will print it on big pieces of paper for you. That's what Whitney often does. I haven't done that, tho. Price is reasonable vs the work effort/ saved, as I understand. Top turned out great knowing some tweaks are still needed. From here it looks like the back is a bit shorter than the front. Maybe an inch or a bit less shorter in back. Otherwise length looks right too. Love the fabric in this pattern too and on you.
Thank you! The pattern is really nice snd looks great on you!
Hi Joy. Your top turned out so cute. You started to tell us a tip you learned from Peggy Sagers but didn’t tell us. How are you liking your new house? Do you love your new sewing room? Have a blessed week. Love, Liz
You don't miss a thing Lizzy! LOL. Yes, I noticed that I forgot to say what Peggy said when I was editing. What she said was to NEVER put your knit garments in the dryer. Hang them to dry, and they will look good a whole lot longer.
@@Joy4650B Joy, thanks for letting me know the tip. I never miss your videos! You were my first channel I watched on TH-cam. I truly love you and can’t wait to meet someday. Either here on earth or in heaven. Love, Liz
Goodness I have more fabric coming in tomorrow from Fabric Mart😊
Nice fabric with my favourite colour. Years ago I bought adhesive mirror tiles one could fix on doors. 4 were enough for full length. I think they are still on the market. For the gaping neckline some solve it with the bust dart or take it it at the shoulder. Or a small dart at the V point. A shorter facing and placement of the front against the sewing plate with the facing on top might help a little (similar with sleeve and body when sewing together.) From your video it looks like the front is slightly longer, but you can say it's the style and leave it as it is. You move so it varies with the movement.
Oh my God... How much I enjoy your videos.....and much more when you do clothing tutorials......I learn so much......Thank you a bunch and I hope to see more tutorials like this 😀 Dios te bendiga!!!! (GOD BLESS YOU)
Thank you so much!
I know the taping puts a lot of people off Indie patterns so it is worth using a copy shop to print in AO size. We have a few UK businesses who have You Tube channels instagram lives to show their fabrics and potential pattern options weekly as you describe. It is brilliant and I always buy fabric from them. The blue looks lovely on you. 😊 Lynne
Hi there Joy!
Made this dress. Like it.
Remember there is a layers feature on most of the Indy patterns so you can print only the sizes you want. Saves trying to decipher all the lines. Kenis is her name.
Yes, you can print only the layers you need BUT ONLY if your Adobe Acrobat installed has the option enabled.
I love Sinclair patterns, they fit me so well straight off. The designer's name is Kenneth Wong. I have made some of her patterns and I own more that I've not yet made up, the Celeste being one of them. I find it easier to tape the pages together using my light box to line them up. I have put many patterns together now, so am used to doing it. I do sometimes send them to a printer and get the A0 version printed, it's pricey but easy and saves a lot of time. I admit it, I'm lazy :-)
It's a very pretty top. The back fits you well. I think you could likely go down to a size 10 with a D cup front, for a better fit across the shoulders, upper chest, and bust, although you've sorted those out for yourself. I have the same fit issues as you, especially with sleeves, they are always too wide.
Hey Joy, Thanks for this one. I really like it too. Aren't you going to put in a bust dart? Looks like it still needs one, looking at the sample dresses. I don't know.
It already has a bust dart and bust sizing by the company who made it.
You started to tell us that you learned something from Peggy Sagers, but never finished! I'm dying to hear what it was!😅
You and a bunch of others missed my Peggy tip. So sorry. Peggy said to NEVER put your knit garments in the dryer. They will last a whole lot longer if you just hang them to dry.
Such a cute top/dress! I am afraid to try it now. If you found it frustrating, I can only imagine that with my lack of sewing knowledge, it will make me cry 😂
You might find Peggy Sagers armhole templates useful for new projects. Once you know your armhole and sleeve cap size, they are transferable from pattern to pattern.
This is a very cute top Joy. The color is a beautiful shade of blue and the fit is very nice.
Every garment needs pockets don't you think?
Hi Joy......missed you.
You could actually put a dart in that top to save it. The armholes are plenty big for you.
I have this pattern but have never put it together. I would follow along if you make it again
I have to catch up on your videos that I missed I see you have your quilt up with the sewing machine pattern on it and I see you have a lot of your Fabrics on the Shelf
That is just the cutest top and the blue looks so nice on you. I send my pattens to PDF plotting and have them printed & receive them most times the next day. So very convenient & no piecing pattern paper together. I use 2 tall mirrors. It does take a couple of minutes to get them together but they work great. Hands free and I can see all my front & then all my back. I’m working on my bootstrap pants form It hasn’t been too bad a couple of pieces were a little tricky but I figured them out. Actually I’m just working on muslin but I’m learning what to do when I do the real thing. The leg fits almost tight & the crotch is right up close to mine. It’s just perfect to me. I need to take some out of length to remove some wrinkles from legs and get the waist right and work with the front & back center seams. It’s going to be so neat when I stuff it and I can Palmer & Plesch my pants on it rather than all that twisting, turning, stooping, and reaching around this belly of mine. I think I’m going to make real one from Kona cotton & interfacing.
In our sewing guild, one member duct taped three together making hinges.
@@ninadukette3340 That sounds like a neat idea! My biggest problem is space.
You will have to start your OWN TH-cam channel Vicki. You have learned so much.
@@Joy4650B oh Joy it’s only because of wonderful ladies like yourself & other you tube seamstress. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this earlier. If I don’t have my mirrors to look at clothes I’m trying to fit I use the camera on my phone. If you have a tripod use it. If not I have found all kind of places to prop up my phone. I think it takes a better picture in reverse. They have some you tube videos telling best way to take pictures for fitting clothes. Do front, sides, & back. I even do a video of myself turning slowly. If Jerry is around just get him to take a picture of your sides and your backside. Then you can study the pictures and see what corrections you need to make. Hands free no holding one mirror while looking in another. Hope this helps you while waiting on your 3 way mirror. Also hope it helps others. When finished just delete the photos.
Think it’s a darling pattern on you!
Joy, in your vast experience sewing garments, have you ever had trouble with diagonal drag lines down the front of a long sleeve? I have tried Peggy Sagers' suggestions including a back elbow dart and converting to a two-piece sleeve with no effect. Jennnifer Stern did not really have an answer and I have browsed the internet until I am blue in the face. I should have asked you first!
I would have to see a picture Lynn. From your explanation, it seems you have too much sleeve at the armhole area. You may need to narrow the area across your upper chest. I have had to do that before. Maybe the sleeve cap is too high for you. You measure from your underarm area to the top of your shoulder. Maybe you only need 5 inches, and you have 6 1/2. If you have someone to help you, have them manipulate the sleeve to see what makes the diagonal lines disappear.
Thanks much Joy, I will give those ideas a try.@@Joy4650B
What was the tip you learned from Peggy about knits? 32:53
I need to put this in the description box lol. So many of you caught my boo boo. Peggy said to NEVER put your knit garments in the dryer. Hang them to dry and they will look good a whole lot longer.
@@Joy4650B Thanks for the quick reply, you are so gracious to share all of your tips and knowledge.
Have a wonderful day, having a sunny morning here in PA !🌞
Thank you for tip about hanging the thread rack. Can you tell me where you purchased the racks for your serger thread? I think it is white. Thank you!
patty
My white racks are from ETSY. I believe the man that makes them is open again since it is April. SewNSupplyDisplays is the company name.
Joy, I am sure someone has already commented this but you can email th A0 pattern to a company and they post you the full pattern ..
well worth the money xx
I have heard about that before, but I'm always in a big hurry for some nutty reason.
@@Joy4650B I get ya...you decide to do something and it has to happen yesterday! Lol 🤣🤣
I have been looking for a 3 way mirror for a while. Is yours full length. Can you give a link for it
Thanks
I got my 3-way full length mirror at Homedepot.com. I haven't received it yet, but it is supposed to arrive today.
@Joy4650B Thanks Joy, I think I found it! 😄 I will be interested to see how you hang it. I have one I can hang over a door. It's great but no longer available. Need another for second home. And we are selling our Newmar too. We have lots in common.
What was the tip you learned from Peggy Sagers about knits? You started to tell us but got sidetracked.😮
I'm so sorry. I caught that when editing. Peggy said to NEVER put your knit garments in the dryer. Hang them to dry, and they will last a whole lot longer.
where did you find your 3 way mirror. Always love your videos
I bought it at Homedepot.com. It is pretty expensive. $50 to deliver it but they will pick it up for free if I want to return it.
Hello Joy, Would you just size down for the next one? if not what would be the reason? Love to listen to you....your name suits you 😄😃😃
Actually Dee Dee, I need the fullness from under the bust down. Therefore, I will just take in the top part and the sleeves.
I try to pri nt only my size. Is not that confusing
I thought I may have to start small at the top and go wider at the bottom, but I didn't.
@@Joy4650B Joint the club. In my case a lot bigger in the buttom.Thank you so much for everything. I don't need an answer. You are adorable.
Is it cotton?
Yes. The fabric is 100% cotton from the quilting cotton section at JoAnn.
Wait I'm confused which house are you at
Not the lake house.
New house.

Oh no I much more enjoy Itch to Stitch, Love Notions and Ellie and Mac more than big 4 patterns. I have much more of these than big 4 you can’t beat the instructions they provide. I find big 4 lacking in good instructions.
You are right about the poor instructions in the big 4. There can even be mistakes in them. Crazy. But when I can get them for $1.99, I don't care since I know how to make most garments without instructions.
Speaking of frustrations...It always annoys me when a nice looking pattern turns out to be a PDF! I appreciate others love them but for those of us without printers and better things to do than taping all the pages together it's a big NO!
AI is horrible they just don't teach the computers programming how to handle an actual conversation
