A fantastic piece of mechanical ingenuity, a less than perfect demonstration of its beauty and performance. The camera angle puts the main point of interest, pen and paper, at an angle that does not show the writing and puts (uncomfortable) people in the frame. The manual changes of lines made by the presenter are NOT necessary during its normal performance. In other words, leave the back movement explanation as is then wind it up and talk while it does the writing.
That's gotta be so hard on the windings... Start. Stop. Start. Stop. Start. Stop. Start. Stop. Start. Stop. A few more conferences like this, and a spring will snap.
If he machined every part himself (which he may have done, I don't know) then I imagine it wouldn't have been _too_ expensive to make, just lots of time involved. Of course though, the quality, the precision, and novelty would've made it very valuable indeed! Posh toys for rich kids/families... I imagine it would've cost relative to today - £300-£500? Expensive, yes, but just say, if you were a successful business owner then (as now), you probably could've afforded it. (I'm totally guessing of course! Out of reach for most dirt-poor families, though middle-class shop owners probably could've afforded one. Upper/aristocratic classes - no problem.)
Jaquet Droz is the one did make many amazing artwork and preferred by most royal families back in old days
that doll has better hand-writing than me...
I wish i could speak french now this is a masterpiece
Extraordinaire 💖 !!!!!

So complex its mind boggling.
ULTRA SaVaGe Indeed,it is a mechanical brain or mechanical computer
What an extraordinary display of genius to create a mechanical automaton. Wow!
Absolutely Fantastic

Mind boggling mechanical creativity.

Droz as always...amazing
Fascinante!

awesome... remind me of hugo movie
Holy crap, what an amazing machine. But I have to ask, could Marc Hayek look any more bored than he is? Stop biting your nails, Marc.
These are French national treasures.
Swiss 😉
which countries are automata more popular or were more popular? Why do the french & japanese love them so much? These machines are golden
Sublime technology 👌
Jadi inget sama film HUGO

They are all wearing nice watches. What brand are they?
+Rina Ono JAQUET DROZ
lmao
Why is there never English subtitles for these videos?
because this is an ancient tech belonging to parasites
Jaquet-Droz "The Writer" 1774 Boston Dynamics "Atlas" 2022 ? " Oh my God " 2270
Extraordinarily creepy!
Who else yelled "ZOOM IN!!!" @ 2:52 ?
How the heck they made these way back when we don't know. I say it's tartarian lost tech.

Who owns this will Get misfortune .
My nightmare
I wonder how much would that doll cost back when it was made compared to how much in today's money that would translate into.

Ancient plotter.
just use arduino. cheap, fast useful. boom
It would be fun to program the Automata to text on a Iphone!!😂
Ehh its ok
This operator will ruin the exquisite mechanics
All that precision and yet the boys eyes don't look at what he's drawing at all
Not satisfied?
creepy...
Stop fussing and interfering with the machine!!!!! Annoying!
Que bostê
Menudas caras, pero si parece un funeral.
