- Humans are growing taller around the world. The average adult today is 5% taller than they were a century ago.
But how tall could humans get in the future, and what can we learn from the tallest people in the world - the Dutch?

I am from the UK, I'm about 6'05 (184cm) just about a member of the 'tall boy' club over here, I lived and worked in The Netherlands for two years, my god they were giants, the men and women! I felt short at times! Lovely people though. Big friendly giants.
Till this day i’m still so flabbergasted that everyone who visits the netherlands describes dutch people as kind ^^

My background is 1/2 Dutch and I am middle-aged and have grown 1 inch in last 5 years. I am now 6ft 2.5 inches. I was blaming my wife for shrinking my clothes until I measured myself. Maybe the boiled spinage and raw egg my mother gave me as a child had that affect. Well that's my story.
You should tell this to your physician . Growing at that age can be caused by a tumor on the hypophysis
Or maybe it is only because you are not having to do any heavy lifting during the last 5 years. Something that all the nurses at my mom's nursing home and my doctor has forbidden me to do for awhile after being in a roll over car accident 3 1/2 years ago and then hurting one of my knee joints 3 1/2 while caring for my mom at her nursing home months ago too by taking her for a walk in her well upholstered looking like an easy chair on wheels wheel chair. One of the back wheels slipped into the crevice between the sidewalk and the lawn after the lawn was edged. I was afraid the 2 of us were going to topple over. Then I lifted the wheel chair with my mom still in it out of that crevice and took her back to the nursing home. Didn't realize at the time how bad of a knee injury I had. Both sets of parents were from a hard working farm background and so they always encouraged me to work hard. Like when helping to build a house, run a garbage truck business, moving furniture around while being a housekeeper for pay, help with patient transfers etc.

Uk and Ireland measure height and weight in imperial for the most part but for younger people and more official documents it’s measured in Metric! It’s confusing but it’s like this for at least last 30 odd year! Make it more confusing Southern Ireland measures speed in Km for roads while Northern Ireland is measured in Miles

I’m American woman and am half Dutch. I’m tall at 5’8”, my mother was short. I grew up eating red meat and dairy each day, I don’t eat either today. I think it did help with my height.

Norwegian/ dutch ancestry and 6'4. I used to always slouch growing up in school around friends because I was always so much taller than everyone else. Then I got older and realized women actually liked taller guys. Lol I was so dumb.

These figures are skewed by multiculturalism. Northern Europeans are genetically the tallest/Largest,In All aspects Physiologically, but each northern European country has varrious levels of multiculturalism and diversity.

Average Indonesians are getting taller, right now i'd say the average male height (based on my observation around Jakarta and West Java) is like 5'5-5'7. I'm 5'6/168cm, with shoes on i'm 5'7/171cm, and when i go to shopping centers, malls, high schools, or college i feel average, even a lot of people are taller than me. In my small group of friend the tallest is 5'10/178cm, the second tallest is 5'9/175cm, also in my high school back then, one guy was 6'2/187cm (most of us have no chinese or other foreign blood btw). 5'4/163cm and below is considered short here most of the time.
I believe it is the SOUTH SUDANESE who are, on average, the tallest people

I drank Omega-3 milk literally everyday as a kid, was very active in cardio as a student athlete, ate lots of dairy and protein/meat daily, slept 10 hours a night every night, and had a 188 cm (6'2") father and still ended up pathetically short. So I doubt diet plays a part in it or else I wouldn't have ended up at only 180 cm, while other men I know actually ended up not being short, despite being unhealthy and lazy growing up.

Here in pakistan we have all the heights,the general rule is that the more north west you go the taller the people get,the more south easy you go,the more shorter the people get.it has something to do with ancient indo aryan invasions.

I am 5'6 and I live in a place where my height is pretty tall but I feel extremely short when I go to the mennonite community that is full dutch desandants it is incredibly rare to see a mennonite under 5'10. Its a place full of giants because they are rich in whole milk and dairy
There are some mennonite communities where my parents are from (Durango,Mex) and I’m 5,10.5 and Haven’t met much of them that are taller than me.😅And yeah they’re Europeans that migrated and settled there communities there. Really nice people and they make great dairy products and bread 🧀

I thought I was a tall woman 5’7” until I took a KLM flight to Amsterdam. The female flight attendants towered over me and I now know how short people feel.
I lived in Holland for 3 years. Didn't notice any height difference from England. Belgium is on the border. Smaller there.

Go to Mexico and you see a major difference in height with southern Mexicans vs northern Mexicans. Mexican men in the south are like 158 cm to 160 cm for average height and Mexican men in the north are like 180 cm to 183 cm for average height. Mexicans with such a difference can claim that they are both the shortest and tallest of the Americas. This goes back to when the European colonists arrived to the Americas. The European colonist called the indigenous people of what is today southern Mexico and central America as the Pygmy of the Americas. But European colonists said that the indigenous people of North America are mostly tall with them calling the indigenous Apache tribes that today would be southwest USA and northern Mexico giants. Southern Mexico's population is largely indigenous while northern Mexico is Mestizo which is a mix European with indigenous and the indigenous people in northern Mexico are tall and much taller then the indigenous people in southern Mexico and central America.
I am Somalian and still growing taller,,,there is link to diary and meat and height growth,,,when I started eating more meat animal proteins to my diet my height increased very fast sleeping 7-9 hours is also very vital for bone growth

Supply is only one side of the problem. If you increase supply but don't remove the existing nefarious negative gearing and other tax benefits for this particular asset class, the existing owners will have the most financial incentive to just buy the new properties and rent it.

With more and more immigrants, European lifestyle will decrease due to less space and more taxes and they will stop growing like Americans have for about the past 50 years. It seems somewhere around 5'10 to 6' is the maximum average height except for inbred populations. Maybe another inch or two if nutrition and health care are perfect.

British doesn't fall into the same group they are way shorter maybe the same height as French.
Born and raised in Norway, and ethnic Norwegians/Swedes are talll, especially the Erling Haaland generation born after 2000. but on average they are not as tall as dutch.
The tallest people are found in East Africa, the Nilotic Dinka and Nuer people in South Sudan.

I think the healthy limit is 6'6. In basketball i guess injury rates skyrocket if they are taller than that.
It's not 6'6 trust me, I'm from the Netherlands and know plenty of guys that height and it's NOT healthy. I think the limit should be around 6'2, because anything over 6 or 180cm will get you back problems faster
It's not only about fertility of taller man, since it would work everywhere. In more progressive countries, girls could chose their husbands by themselves, and girls naturally prefer taller guys. While in less developed, or more conservative countries, it was not the case until early 20th century. The marriages were arranged by families, and in that case height was not the most important preference.
I don't see how the Netherlands were miles ahead of other European countries in that regard.

Tall people also tend to have more health issues. Yes DNA changes with time but brings more health issues. I am glad i am 1.65 cm tall. Less health issues and i can adapt faster to disseases. Sizes tend to come with perks and issues in many ways
