It was a clinical and pragmatic decision to play 3 DMs, which I admire for being a bold departure from what was expected. It confused Chelsea's game plan also that Ronaldo, who Thiago & Rudiger were prepared for, ended up not starting and they were lulled into a sense of comfort from how deep we sat that a counter became possible against them. Where Carrick (or the players) got it slightly wrong was defending deep without having a transitional plan for the counter. If you're going to sit deep, have one fast player (Rashford/Sancho) high up the pitch and ready to break. Not having a target man made Bruno look useless. A creative midfielder has to create for someone, otherwise he has no use in the game. I'll take a draw over losing 5-0 any day though.

Great respect to Fred by not taking advantage from Mendy’s mistake. He knew it would cause a disastrous psychological effect to Mendy if he had scored that goal (e.g Karius) so he decided to give it back and tried to score a “legit” goal instead.

Ronaldo should’ve started and then should’ve come on a half time at a minimum. People giving Carrick credit for a draw did not watch the game. Our goal was an extremely lucky gift from Jorginho and our first shot on target the whole game. Chelsea comprehensively dominated us and if they had better finishing, it would’ve been another rout. Like Fergie said, you always play your best players.
Bailly was phenomenal again. I think bissaka needs a rest also he’s been having periods where he looses concentration, dalot should hopefully play for 60 minutes. Bruno seemed a bit lethargic, should probably also play 60 minutes in next two games or come in as a sub. Scott keeps playing subconsciously hiding in shadows when we have the ball. Probably a 3v3(one becomes 2 for the team chasing the ball) rapid play rondo for midfielders may help.

Really Fred... Instead of waiting just a bit and passing it to Lingard that was going onside or passing it to Ronaldo that was open and with the defender far from him. Ina situation like that it's all about creating spaces. Lobbing it was the easiest option for the keeper.
Doing this when it's a 2-1, sure, why not. But in a draw? It's better to keep possession and create opportunities then wasting it "because you can".

What did you expect when you had no target man? What was he supposed to do when the team was set up to defend for first 60 mins with hardly anyone in front to receive the ball to spark a counter. Rashford was consistently deep in our half. Nobody to transition the ball.
