My take:
If you were only playing KH2 on its own, than Namine would be a pretty weak character. She's mostly just in the prologue where she exists solely to provide exposition (a trend that will only get worse as the series goes on), then randomly shows up at the end of the game just to have a proper send-off, although Final Mix thankfully adds a scene earlier on that better builds to that happening. Oh, and it turns out she's Kairi's Nobody, but you wouldn't fully understand that before the two merge together unless you'd read the Ansem Report that details the nature of her creation.
Namine's screentime in this game, low as it is, only has any effect if you've played COM beforehand. When you have, then it's actually really impressive to see how Namine has grown, more resembling Kairi in her newfound optimism and willingness to take actions to help those she cares about no matter what the consequences might be. And her ending alongside Kairi, Sora and Roxas is very touching - her body fades but her spirit endures, still able to exist as an individual even after merging with her other self. It's a happy ending that she's more than earned.

You're spot on. Kh2 was the first Kingdom Hearts game I played. While I did get a good impression from her in the beginning, in the original game the whole Roxas-Namine story goes out the window, and it barely gets addressed again until Sora reaches the World That Never Was. It really made me feel sad and nostalgic for Namine and Roxas, seeing how they were these two tragic characters that everyone seemed to forget about (especially Namine). From what I've seen, the Final Mix did a nice job of adding more context/depth to them that the original, which is nice to see
Since then I've seen a lot more of her in Re:Chain of Memories and KH3, and things make a lot more sense now

I felt so sad for her, but glad she got a happy ending. Even if it was a bit bittersweet. Seeing as how she no longer has a physical form of her own.
She might get her form back in KH3, that's the whole idea of Sora figuring out how to wake hearts.

For some reason, I wanted to have explored a stroryline in which Naminé, after meeting Sora again in "KH 2" with his original memories restored, would have been rejected and would have joined "Organisation XIII" only to be redeemed in an awesome "KH 3", because in this fan-fic of mine, there would be a female member, completely created by me, that would have been the only nice person with her in Castle Oblivion, seeing her like her own little sister, and in return, Naminé would start seeing this member as her older sister.

So one time she's a person. At the end she's like a ghost and is able to open dark portals? Roxas can talk through Sora, so his consiousness is always there but we don't see it after KH2 any more? Roxas and Namine can see each other on the Destiny Islands but can't interract with each other? How did she end up dead in KH3?

It doesn't make sense that namine has to join Kairi. Her heart was never lost to darkness, her body never became a nobody, If anything Namine should be joining sora too!
Naminé joining Sora? That didn't sound too well!
But she owes nothing to Sora. Kairi was made from Kairi and Sora was only a link (his darkness) to be able to connect Kairi to Namine's creation. Nothing about Namine's existence shows that she's affected by Sora (only her own powers which is still a mystery) like Roxas (who's Sora's body).
So Namine is full-fledged Kairi's nobody.
@@lilli7040 but she isn't made of kairi's body. Nothing about her is related to Kairi. Only that she was somehow spawned by her heart in a different body.
@@MrSasyB She doesn't have Sora's body either. As stated in Ansem's reports, even though her birth was very unusual and unstable because she technically doesn't have a physical body, however she still has traits that classify her as a nobody. You can even say that she's the biggest nobody of all nobodies because of her existence.
Namine was created because Kairi lost her heart but the process couldn't be completed because she lacked the darkness as a Princess of Heart. That's why I say Sora is the bridge to complete this process where he chained the process of Kairi creating Namine as a nobody.
