Kane had 7 GWG’s in 50 games. 5 of those were OT and shoot out GWG’s. Now he gets (hopefully) 82 games in even better shape than he was last year. Seider will get more goals/points replacing Ghost on PP1. Gustafson is an upgrade over Ghost defensively and can QB PP2. Tarasenko is a much needed power forward. He could teach Rasmussen a lot. The boys received a couple years of puck protection tutelage from Perron. Now they will learn from Vlad who is a tenacious puck retriever. If Raymond picks up where he left off, look out. If Edvinson shows out as a top 4/2 Dman then Seider gets more offensive deployments which will equal more points/goals. If Johansson can come up and play well Holl or Petry will be traded with some salary retention. Talbot is an upgrade over every goalie we’ve had in recent history. If half of Dcats post/crossbar strikes went he would’ve been damn close to 40 last year. I don’t expect him to be that snakebit this year. There’s a lot to be positive about. It will sort itself out.
Edviison has a greater upside offensively if put in the right situations. 40-50 pts with pp time. Erik G is an upgrade from Ghost and his minus liability where he is only a 40 pt player. Petry and Holl are insurance players and help mentor prospects coming up. I would like to see Albert J become a regular player showcasing his ability to skate and move the puck. The players and experts in Grand Rapids say he was the best player on the Griffins.
I’m excited for the young stud D man. Mostly excited to see Kane/Senko/Raymond tear it up. I can’t say it enough, but Kane being here really really brought back my passion for this team. Such a great feeling having him here. It’s gonna be a good year boys, I think we squeak into a wildcard spot. Go Wings!
Glad you corrected Brad on his weird Edvinsson take. There's zero reason he can't and won't have an excellent season - warts and all. He'll have latitude no matter what.
Nicely conducted program, I now live in Arkansas, but was a former nose-bleed seat user at the Olympia. I have seen many of the ups and downs. The interview with Daniels was concise and to the point, none of the nonsense shown by that clown on Locked on Redwings. I feel sorry for Scotty; he does an excellent job on Locked on Tigers. But that host; Yikes! You have a new subscriber, keep up the good work.
Edvinsson was coming off shoulder surgery coming into last season (if I recall correctly) so they not have wanted to rush his recovery if it needed more time. May have been different type of deal than Seider and Raymond.
Some guys in GR said Albert Johansson was there best defenseman.. if Edvisson came in at the end of the season and logged top 4 minutes pretty well.. Johansson should be able to be a regular in the top 6.. obviously he doesn't have the size and skating Edvinsson does. but he's a much smarter player. I could definitely see Johansson and Gustafsson be a very solid 3rd pair
Larkin needs to take that next step and score 90. Each year he has to many slumps. And Raymond needs to start hot to get ti 40. Kane on a full year is huge
It is an interesting and important thing to get the long / short balance figured out and I agree that this is something Edvinsson may need to rethink. Nick Lidstrom told Rasmus Dahlin, who was playing with a very short stick, to consider using a long one. Apparently Dahlin just did what Lidstrom suggested and he is now playing with a much longer stick than he used to. I think Dahlin managed to maintain his excellent puck control while getting a way better shot than he had, so I think Brad for sure is onto something here relating to Edvinsson!
Holl played 80 games for Toronto. But he can't play here? He's nothing but a scapegoat. Led by a B coach who's nothing more than a rebuild patsy. Just like Blaishill. They work cheap. That's why they were hired.
