I don’t drum but I like what I hear. I do recall Phil Collins eulogising over ringos drumming on a day in the life saying it sounds simple but just try and play it.
Yup, even by Beatles fans like me. Seeing him at work on the Let It Be 2021 documentary you see how he composed drum parts as it 'appens tho Paul can take over. Unfussy uncomplicated but complex at same time.
at the end, Ringo said he was getting his trousers caught at the bottom of his drum kit.... John without missing a beat said "well take them off". classic
when it cuts to George talking to George, the music continuing to play in the background.... it should be a moment in the history of documentary filmmaking, it's so arrestingly real.

Of course they are humans, very talented humans. They make mistakes just like the rest of us. What makes them so good is the fact that they keep on going until they get it right!
I love how they all are like siblings to each other. After one of the recordings Ringo, and John had a bit of a joke. Ringo said: “I keep getting me trousers caught on the pedal.” John: “Take em off then.” Ringo: “I think I will.”
Best outro to a song ever. You just want it to go on and on and on and on. It does but you still want more. Paul’s vocal overdubs at the end are outstanding. It doesn’t sound aged at all even though it’s 56 years old. Great to see how close to the mic Paul got on those overdubs.
@@wawawawa128 John was complicated. I don't think it's accurate to reduce him to entirely a "shit person," but he definitely had some nasty traits. He was gradually getting better, but his redemption was unfortunately cut off in 1980.

Always fun to see the process. The key is to know when it still needs work when you're doing originals. George Martin was a genius in knowing how to push the boys to keep refining it until the finished product was as good as it can be. The many versions of Hey Jude were pretty bad, but the end result was one of the best songs ever.
Paul said that John really wasn't the same when yoko was around... this recording session is without her that explains why john and paul's alchemy is at work here !
Given that, as is well documented, the entire song is to Julian asking to accept Yoko despite the circumstances, the second sentence of this is an unutterably silly and uninformed comment mate ...
Damn, I remember when this hit the radio back in 1970 or so. Such a serious song as the finished cut and to watch them clown their way through the recording session. I knew they were a bunch of cut-ups after seeing "Help!" in the theater back in the mid '60s.
One thing I didnt know until few yrs ago, Ringo was a left hand drummer and he needed to adjust If that's the right term on most of the songs, Great to see these sessions from the best band ever, I'd love to see a real tribute to George Martin who really kept the boys in check
It’s such a shame that we don’t have day in the life, making of. What a session that must have been. Let it be movie made me fully understand the genius
I only remember driving with my buddies , smoking a joint; and singing the Hey Jude part for 10 minutes or so. We would all be exhausted at end. Maybe I should know this but why was George not involved in the recording?
Perhaps...Multitrack Recording ?? ...recording different audio channels at different times to separate discrete "tracks" on the same tape ?? ...Or better...still working out the arrangement in the studio ?? Can anyone else take a stab at answering this good question?
I know he wanted to have a guitar part "answering" Paul after every line (or something) but lost that particular musical disagreement. Doesn't seem to be any lingering animosity here, though, like it sounded there was when I read it.
Vivian Darkbloom - I agree there doesn’t seem to be any animosity at all. George seems to be discussing the arrangement. So all 4 must have agreed on just the 3 of them making the recording. Still seems weird.
The final original recording of Hey Jude has all four Beatles performing -- including George Harrison on lead guitar. Please see my comment above in this thread.
YES ! What singing: From 1:04 To 1:51 I wish that this edit did not cut away from Paul at 1:51 to George and George talking in the booth when Paul was still singing this so beautifully. Yeah...you can still hear Paul singing in the background, but it ain't the same thing. Not only Paul's Singing Voice, but also Paul's Phrasing of the melody is so spot on beautiful here. The Beatles were truly amazing in so many ways.
@@lloydvanpraagh7599 i agree.... it is amazing, and i know that they were all familiar with each other and acted as if this event was no big deal, but it's seems like they should have all been sitting there - with all their jaws dropped wide open - to be witnessing such pure art right in front of their eyes...
No one of the guitar gods changes strings themself. It' s a guitar tech' s job. There' s an Interview with the guitar tech of The Edge from U2. He uses around 21 different guitars every show and he wants them with new strings. That' s a job.
John Lennon said at one point that this was Paul's masterpiece...interesting, considering he wanted little to nothing to do with Julian. Maybe he didn't realize who the song was about?
Ringo is such a solid underrated drummer. Never speeds up. Never slows down. A human metronome.
All in all just such an amazing band. Some of the best synergy I think will ever exist in a band
He did once. It was somewhere in the summer of ‘63. He was distracted by a purple pigeon flying by. True story
I don’t drum but I like what I hear. I do recall Phil Collins eulogising over ringos drumming on a day in the life saying it sounds simple but just try and play it.
Not exactly the most technical drummer

Bell bottom pants days. Kick drum beater always getting caught up in the wide pant leg. Too funny!
Frank Bartolone That used to happen to me. I started using a heavy rubber band to hold my trouser bottom to keep it out of the way.
I used to roll up my pant leg to about my knee to avoid this....then forget to unroll it during break when I chatted with girls. Umm....
Bicycle clips Ringo, that's the answer!

4 Legends making the most legendary composed song ever

In what way?
I think Phil Spector might have done that.
