I looked at Kitchen Faucets at Home Depot and Lowes. Moen and Delta we found the Sprayers to be Plastic though the body was stainless. We ended up with Kohler, purchased at Amazon. Sprayer & Body metal, actual Stainless. I'm in my 70's and found it simple to install, and I know Kohler has parts if I should ever need to repair. Very happy with our choice.
Appreciate the tip on wholesalers. I often don't know where to look besides Home Depot/ Lowe's. I'm surprised American Standard's on your list because that's the leaky bathroom faucet I'm having to replace right now after only 10 years. A plumber came out to assess it and he specifically advised to avoid American Standard brand, but agreed with your top 2, Moen and Delta.
If you're talking about Moen from your local big box retailer, then I agree. Pretty much all faucets from there will completely suck since they've swapped out a bunch of the internals with cheap plastic.
@@shawnbadger2737 I can't say where my parents got whatever they've had. I thought through their plumber. In any case, the parts that always break are plastic as you said. During the same phase I bought a looked nice but cheap kitchen faucets. It died in a year. Since then I payed for quality and zero issues years later.
It would be nice if you do a video about showers, shower valves based on your experience. We have three Moen showers that use the 1222 cartridge. Had to replace them in each shower over last few years. Could be because of harder water or debris, but didn't have this problem with other shower manufacturers. I stay with Moen because of their excellent customer service. They send the replacement cartridge for free and I know how to replace them. Had also problem with a Delta valve body that developed a crack, but it was quite old.
Faucet manufacturers do not stamp name on faucets anymore. They might put label on built in supply line. I have been to many homes to repair a faucet, but couldn't find out who made it. They don't use washers in faucets anymore, just their own cartridge. I recommend Delta or Moen. Take a picture of the box with model # on it.

I was thinking Moen because I moved into a house with them and they go a long ways between repairs, and parts are available everywhere. I've lived here 42+ years and they were here when I got here. They still work like new but I've put a few cartridges in them but when you're done, you're done, none of this wondering why it still leaks and you need to recondition or replace other metal parts you didn't plan on.

My contractor said if it goes bad then replace it. The cost of a plumber fixing the faucet is close to the cost of replacement. What do you think?
Here’s my problem. I went to the Kohler distributor. We put all Kohler in our house. Now we have no pressure. The plumber took my sink apart to make sure the contractor installed it correctly. He discovered the Kohler faucet is made with a 1/4” tube (= to a cocktail straw pressure) attached to the aerator, so the aerator CANNOT be adjusted or removed. Wish could agree, but have you seen the plastic tubing that's supposed to be better than brass? Already having to replace one of those brands because the plastic tubing is leaking in the spout neck. Lasted less than 14 months. Suspected this was gonna be a problem and it is.
No on Moen for me. Nice looking, but they all had a plastic piece inside that broke on most of the faucets - some multiple times. I have a 5 year Blanco kitchen faucet that is running slow so the plumber said I needed a "check valve" but Blanco says the faucet has been DC'd and there is no replacement part so he and a plumbing company recommended a Moen - from the comments I am reading I see why. But the specs for a Moen are different than the specs on the Blanco. I will probably end up getting a Blanco because that is the granite hole size that fits.. I would not recommend Grohe because the finish wore out on two handles. All these companies are out to make money PERIOD.
The hole in your granite countertop should be 1 3/8”. That is standard so any faucet should fit. It would have been cheaper to replace those Grohe handles, that might have been under warranty and parts would still be available today, than having to buy a new kitchen faucet.
@@TheGrumpyPlumber I have a Blanco kitchen faucet and bathroom Grohe handles and by the time those handles tarnished the warranty was out. Would you recommend a Blanco over a Delta? I am not going with a Moen.
I recommend the Blanco over a Delta faucet. I believe the cartridge for your Blanco was made by Hans Grohe, which is a different company than Grohe. Masco owns Hans Grohe and Delta but they are two different faucets. Have you disconnected the head of the faucet from the hose? Do that, then turn on the water and see how the pressure is. If you have good pressure, then the problem is in the head. Inside the head, there are two removable check valves. They come out very easily. Remove them, reconnect the head and see how your pressure is then. I’m not positive this will work but try it.
@@TheGrumpyPlumber Thanks. I did remove the head and the water pressure is the same. According to the instructions the check valve sits at the distal part of the spray hose. The plumber pulled "something out" and tried to remove the regulator but could not and at $200/hr I got impatient. Hans Grohe is a very good faucet company. A secret…they are no longer owned by Hans Grohe but by a company named Masco which also owns Delta. They exchange parts on thermostatic valves.
@betsy1947, Price Pfister is a competitive brand. When you buy a Kohler, Grohe and Newport Brass you’re getting much better quality. 90% of the time you will get a longer life out of the faucet. These faucets are made out of brass material, not plastic.
Do you not like Kohler faucets? My present house has Kohler and Moen faucets. My previous 1948 built house had original Crane tub shower and dial ez lav faucets still in use today. Rebuild parts are still available and they look and work great. Every five years or so they need a clean, grease and new washers. Thanks for your helpful advice.
Walter Bordett, I have no issue with the Kohler faucets. I just don’t like the difficulties in removing some of their trim when repairing the faucets. Crane faucets were excellent quality and it’s nice that we can still get parts.
As a general contractor, all brands have stuff made overseas, including kohler. Kohler has gone down hill so bad on quality control, I’m trying to steer clear from any kohler products. From showers, faucets, tub surrounds, tubs, shower pans, and yes including toilets. So many callbacks from kohler products that we have to warranty and lose time and money on… I would rather go with big box store if grohe isn’t in their budget.
My favorite brand of plumbing fixtures and faucets , no longer exist. They had a faucet the called Dial-ease it was found in most if not all Hospitals. I have never seen these faucet leak. I will leave this comment to see if there is someone out there knows or recognize the brand I am talking about. It was bought out by another American brand and I believe some of the better products tooling and dies were destroyed....
Good luck trying to get your warranty on delta in today's world. They say they offer lifetime warranty but when the faucet needs replaced because of bad valve body they don't want to honor there warranty. Also Ferguson doesn't have nothing in famous supply. There is no lifetime warranty on any of anymore. Moen nowadays want you to have the original receipt.

stain at the water line in the bowl?
It is a worldwide problem, seriously.
Where's your tip jar? On lots of YT's, there's a Thanks icon by the Share button.
Way to go Mr. Grumpy, you have a good way of teaching.
C, it’s the quality of the glazing or the amount of glazing in the toilet bowl that makes a big difference in the staining of the bowls. You just have to be on top of it. I can’t recommend any particular product to clean the bowl.
Thanks for your kind words. Appreciate your comments too.
What about Kohler? I think they make pretty good stuff.
@terry7893, I use to love the older products that Kohler made but not so much now. I’ve had trouble with removing the trim to repair the faucets.
@@TheGrumpyPlumber PricePfister has been good to me by replacing 2 separate 10 year old kitchen faucets in 2 different houses at no cost due to their lifetime warranty. But I would rather have not taken the time and trouble to have replaced them.
Where in California
WATERWORKS & LEFROY BROOKS
If you buy those funny brand Chinese faucets, good luck finding replacement cartridges.
@@davidperry4013 many people don’t understand that eventually things will need to be repaired.
@@TheGrumpyPlumber I prefer sticking with Meon, Delta, American Standard, Grohe, Pfister, Chicago faucets, or T&S brass for faucets. T&S brass and Chicago are excellent options for hospitals, commercial kitchens, high traffic restrooms, mop sinks, labs, and medical offices. On my MEP drawings for medical offices I automatically specify T&S brass or Chicago faucets if the architect doesn’t care about the brand and model
An on-line plumbing store - Guillens claims they have the part but provided no photo. When I disconnected the head it is hollow. Blanco makes a newer model with the same specs -- I can bet the valve they use is the same. Blanco no longer makes my older (2018) Model.

I have a moen faucet in my kitchen not top of the line but also not the cheapest. Was probably between $200 to 300 10 years ago. I didn't save the part number. Is there any way I can find out Which faucet I have so I can order parts?
Also keep the packaging information describing the make and model otherwise you are out of luck.
Did you figure it out?
I would take a picture of it and then do a search with Google Lens.
I did finally find the receipt in an old box.
What about Hansgrohe?
Hans Grohe is a very good faucet company. A secret…they are no longer owned by Hans Grohe but by a company named Masco which also owns Delta. They exchange parts on thermostatic valves.
hello!
I got a new Pfister faucet and after six months, it's not working, plus it's plastic.
@betsy1947, Price Pfister is a competitive brand. When you buy a Kohler, Grohe and Newport Brass you’re getting much better quality. 90% of the time you will get a longer life out of the faucet. These faucets are made out of brass material, not plastic.
what is oem means?
OEM means an original equipment manufacturer….generally perceived as a company that produces their own replacement parts. Thanks for asking.
👍👍😁
My favorite brand of plumbing fixtures and faucets , no longer exist. They had a faucet the called Dial-ease it was found in most if not all Hospitals. I have never seen these faucet leak. I will leave this comment to see if there is someone out there knows or recognize the brand I am talking about. It was bought out by another American brand and I believe some of the better products tooling and dies were destroyed....
Made of brass? With plastic parts. Great.
@@Rocket-x9v you are right, warranties are just on paper.
I like Leviton
I’ve never used or repaired Leviton faucets. I’m glad you are happy with them.
A Good Faucet should never need parts .
Really??? I didn’t realize that. ( catch the sarcasm)?
moen over kohler sounds like bad advice to me
Why?
Koehler?
David R, Kohler is good. They would have been my sixth choice as my son said I could only pick five faucets.
You can order a faucet from Home Depot and one from Furgesons and they are identical in every way. This myth that HD is sending out plastic, while Furgesons are brass, has to stop.
American made is a big deal.
Delta is garbage
Where is Kohler on the list?!
@@7amido_613 the old brands we used to use like Kohler, American Standard, Delta, Moen were very good. I used a lot of them. However, they have gone cheap which pisses me off.
Delta? Seriously?
@@tomdaniels7215 Delta is a good competitive faucet.
@@TheGrumpyPlumber Delta is tract home quality at best
Pfister suffers….Sorry
I could see why this guy is grumpy. He’s been out of the game way too long. It’s a new world out there.
All the brands he has recommended are way over priced, thanks to our Chinese partners. All of Delta‘s parts are made in China the same as all the other companies. Consumer Reports even stop reviewing kitchen sink faucets years ago because they came to the conclusion, they are pretty much all the same quality. Installed a HIOKAY faucet a year ago for $26 from Amazon, which is less than the sales tax would be on a Delta. it’s been working fine has all of the exact same features as the $300 models, brushed nickel, brass inside, ceramic cartridge mixing valve, and pex water supply hoses extremely easy installation 15 minutes. That’s why he is the grumpy old plumber because nobody is calling him anymore.👨🔧🚰😢
maybe he had to deal with too many know it all people like yourself lol
