I am certain that if these deaf people could hear the actual song, "Let It Go" they would be just as much in love with it as we who can hear are! This was masterful!
Actually, I'm part of the target audience as a hearing parent of a deaf child that loves music. We use these videos to build our vocabulary, work on facial expressions, and improve our signing style. Without the lyrics playing, they'd have no educational value for me.
Great work. I am hearing and don't know ASL... But I've always seen ASL as such an artistic and beautiful way to communicate. Thanks for sharing your talent.
It's videos like these, that remind me of what I miss most about becoming an interpreter. I'm hooked on this song not in ASL but to see it this way if just beautiful. Thank you so much for making this. And I found this on my birthday!
I only know of this song because Disney On Ice came to fort wayne Indiana and I was one of the staff who cleaned up after every show!!! They redid this song at the end for the deaf children who came out to the show!!! Ty for doing this
I love this video but the framing drives me crazy, there's no reason for a video in ASL to have the performer's hands/arms not in view all the time. They did a great job with the man, but the woman was out of frame so often.
Absolutely INCREDIBLE! I've always watched videos by Amber & Jason individually, but now to see them together in this video, well there's only one way to describe it........... ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL!
I am in love with this. I teach music at an elementary school where the majority of DHoH in the area come to school. So I've been trying very hard to learn as much as I can while I'm there to be able to sign with my kiddos. I agree with others that I would like to be able to see all the signs in a video. For me, I'm learning more when I can see it all. And I adore watching ASL versions of songs, being a musician and all, and I agree with others that there is so much beauty in the mixture of ASL and music.
I LOVE the artistic interpretation here -- the coming together and creating new community after trying hard to fit in and finally deciding to "let it go." The thing I DIDN'T like about the popularization of Disney's song is that it made it seem like a world of isolation was a GOOD option when things got hard. Let it go and stand alone. Shut out the world. It wasn't Disney's message, just the message you get hearing the song in isolation. This interpretation of the song was brilliant! Let it go, put some distance behind it, then (at the end) form community to help you move forward into the sun. BEAUTIFUL visualizations.
I have done ASL signs for over 50 years (learned the alphabet), a few other signs without realizing. Many have done the sign for "so-so"when asked how they were,( everyone knows the sign for "I love you",learned a few from "Happy days" Now I go to a place for adults with disabilities/handicaps, on Wednesdays,I've been learning much more ASL.
I'm not deaf but since I was four I was intrigued by sign language and a lady my dad had gone to school with was a teacher at Illinois school for the deaf. And so she taught me the alphabet and gave me a couple of books. Then in high school I took ask all four years. Was my favorite class. I think this video was beautiful!!!!
My friend showed me this video awhile ago. My friend and I are in the same American Sign Language 2 class. They are both deaf and they never miss a beat.
just found this, by accident, why had i never thought there would be asl translations before. I am so disappointed in myself. I love how you have a male and female "singing this" I am hearing, however, I'm non verbal and I find ASL easier to talk. Planning on taking more college classes to relearn it. Happy that I was able to read all the signs and know most of them. thank you so much for making this
This video was absolutely amazing! The production, costumes, and effects were so good and put such power into it. Along with the great emotions from the performers. Thanks for making this!!
Amazing! I only now have found this video but I wish I had last year. Each year we have a show preformed by the special needs kids at my school along with their peers (kids who take off classes to help them) I have been lucky enough to do this the past 2 years. Last year we had an autistic girl who preformed signing. She signed to this song as she is a huge fan of frozen. This year she signed fireworks. It's amazing to know so many people care and try to promote that they are no different than us
That was a beautiful video! I've only been taking ASL for a few months, but I can really see how beautiful it is to watch, especially when you recognize the signs and see a creative variation to tell the story! Awesome, song, awesome video, and i really recommend more people learn sign language. It's so much fun!
have been looking forward to this for awhile, was positively thrilled with the all deaf cast and crew. I have to say, I am somewhat new to signing and was a little disappointed the ASL was a little hard to keep up with, (the snow coming out of the hands and the hands being cut off.) I know a lot of hard work went into the special effects but why cover the ASL and have the hands cut off ?? that took away from the video, and like a said I am still new to signing, so watching videos with ASL is one way to help learn. other then that is was a great video, loved the costumes and Jason hair style !!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS!!!!! Amber Zion is really beautiful!!!! I can't get enough of Jason!!! :-) He's a wonderful singer!!!!! I hope they'll be more videos of him!!! Maybe more of Amber too!!!!
I love this song...the woman in the picture is my mum....she went deaf as she was dying....she loved this video and played it at her memorial service that her hospice place held for her...my name is Emma
All of your music videos make me really want to learn ASL. (I'm not deaf, though I plan to go to college to study Speech Pathology and Audiology, and I think with that major it'd be a good language to learn.)
Sebastian Reed Andrews I'm a speech path/aud major (just finished my sophomore year). If you want someone to talk to about the major, feel free to come to me. I absolutely love the field and am currently planning to go into audiology
The artists / signers are wonderful, and I enjoyed the video. However, for the filming /editing team, I mean this only as constructive criticism, but I didn't like that the signers' hands were often cut off by the way the video was cropped. It was very distracting, and I think detracted from the beauty of the signs.
Beautiful on the whole, but I agree with the criticism that not seeing the signing detracted from the overall product both in how the shots were framed and the use of effects that completely obscured all but the face. I will add that it didn't seem the actors were as in character for the song as they could've been because there are moments you can see they're effected by the content but other times is like they're so focused on the signing that the emotion just goes off. Personal complaint as I'm a firm believer that you can lose spoken words and signs if you physically display the emotion, or like with Opera singers who sacrifice a beautiful note for the sake of conveying the emotion of the content. Keely and Ren's version is a great example that you don't NEED big special effects if you have deeply felt emotion behind the performance.
Just for the record, most opera singers will actually do the opposite: sacrificing emotion for securing the note. Only after a note has been achieved and set will they break off for emotions sake.
Great musicality with your action/movements. Also, my compliments to the one shooting the vid. Many ASL music translations (is that the word?) here on YT zoom into the ASL interpreter and loses the peripheral hand and arm expressions as the frame only captures the face and neck. The one doing your cam captured you guys well. Bravo! :)
I am certain that if these deaf people could hear the actual song, "Let It Go" they would be just as much in love with it as we who can hear are!
This was masterful!
I love how they took advantage of the hand movements and used them as Elsa's magic.
I'll laugh if Disney comes along and makes TH-cam mute the audio track. It won't affect this video's target audience at all.
Ikr because we are deaf (I am deaf too)
Actually, I'm part of the target audience as a hearing parent of a deaf child that loves music. We use these videos to build our vocabulary, work on facial expressions, and improve our signing style. Without the lyrics playing, they'd have no educational value for me.
I am deaf and im had many deaf and hearing friends!!
ASL in music videos always seem more like a dance to me. Amazing!
omg it pretty
My 6 yr old Deaf daughter absolutely loves Elsa and she is now obsessed with this video! Thank you!!!!
This is pure poetry. I love seeing this. The words say one thing, but the meaning is another.
Great work. I am hearing and don't know ASL... But I've always seen ASL as such an artistic and beautiful way to communicate. Thanks for sharing your talent.

Five years and still as gorgeous as ever
This is an amazing video! A a hard-of-hearing person, it is nice to know that this was made by people in the deaf community!
Beautiful. I wish the hands were fully visible throughout, but still incredibly gorgeous and expressive.
This is the most beautiful thing I have seen in a long while. . . Tears and my smile don't even begin to describe the joy this brought to my heart.

Yes! I am so proud to support this video, excellent work with the special effects - so cool turning gestures into magic!

This is very beautiful and expressive. I'm glad this was done! Well done to everyone involved :)

I have a special relationship with this song and seeing this version brought me to tears.

I'm trying so hard to learn ASL right now, but the more words I'm learning the harder it is to remember the sign

LOL I'm deaf Kate and I understood this video just fine. I'm pretty sure other deaf people will too.
Clarissa Hollar I am deaf too, but the woman was over signing things. it made it a bit difficult for me to understand her.

Is it hard to tell what they're saying when the sparkles are really close to their fingers?
