    Excellent advice as always. We always used the Fast Wash programme on our washing machine. Since finding your channel, we're now washing on the Eco setting, on the timer to start very early on the morning so when we get up, the washing's ready to hang out.
    One tip I'd suggest when using the oven, try and plan to fill the oven with other things that you can freeze then re-heat in a microwave

    Great advice as usual. I have started using the eco programme on my washing machine. Definitely a better quality wash and saves me water as I'm on a water metre. Thanks mate

    I was told by LG (the makers of the Melt detergent sheets) that running some types of laundry on low temperature settings isn’t always advisable. If you need to kill dust mites in bedding; kitchen heavily soiled cloths/tea towels and underwear etc; you should always wash at higher temperatures. Not just to kill the bacteria, but also to keep odours at bay for longer. It does seem to make sense.
    I remember doing an experiment at college using different temperature settings for stain removal. This included soaking and not soaking. The results were totally conclusive. The hottest temperature with soaking was the best.

      Bedding and towels washed at 60c which also keeps the machine clean, everything else seems fine at 20c. I love those Melt sheets.

    Love your videos, have been watching them for awhile now. You always ask for suggestions for videos and was wondering, I don’t think you have done a tour of your store. Not sure if you would feel comfortable doing that but that would be cool. If you have done it in the past, sorry I might of missed that video.

    Potatoes, rice, pasta bring them to the boil then turn it off let it cook in its own heat do it as your 1st thing. Potatoes are ready in about 45 minutes pasta and rice not long at all.

    I wouldn’t use the eco program especially for bedding and towels. With the new eco 40-60. Most machines won’t heat to the desired temperature on the eco program meaning the clothes won’t get a thorough hygienic clean. In regards to washing at lower temperatures is also bad as it can create bad smells and mould if you’re not doing towels or bedding and drum cleans on at least 60c wash.

    Well you missed a tip out on dishwashers
    Basically in all dishwasher reviews you’ve said if you have a half load then use the half load option as that saves both energy and water.
    So missed tip is if you have a half load then use the half load option.

    I don’t know how the manufacturers can justify a 2-4 hours cycle maintaining a constant temperature as being ‘eco’, furthermore I think those long washes are a false economy because I have found it wears clothing out prematurely. Agree on keeping the grilles on the back of the fridge clean as they tend to be a dust magnet. Cleaning the plastic drain reservoir and making sure the drip channel a drainage hole is clear also will do no harm.

    • @synapticburn
      @synapticburn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the whole cycle actually uses less power. If you check with a kill-a-watt meter or equivalent, it uses fewer watts overall

  • @Iris-lk9ig

    I’ve been washing at 20c but Miele reckon that the ECO setting that washes 40-60 is cheaper, I’m confused

    • @lords-electrical
      @lords-electrical  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Always a difficult one, but if you select an Eco program it can be more energy efficient and use less water than on some of the Quick programs. I would always refer to the instruction manual where there should be a chart that states how much electricity and water each program consumes.

    • @Iris-lk9ig
      @Iris-lk9ig ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lords-electrical the manual I have doesn’t mention 20c synthetics, but it does show that the quick wash isn’t energy efficient.

  • @Ubeogesh

    why would a full freezer run more efficiently? it just gains thermal mass, which shouldn't affect the efficiency. The heat gained from opening the freezer will be the same.

      The uk and many other countries have stopped or reduced the amount of gas they buy from Russia. It’s more expensive from other countries and has affected the market.

    • @monikanagyova8834
      @monikanagyova8834 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@andrewlaw5118 in the UK we only got a small percentage of gas from Russia and the price hike was on the way more than half a year before the war. They removed the price cap and the energy companies put the prices up by around 50%. While more and more people struggle to pay their bills, the companies are making record profits. It's about the greed. The price hike wouldn't be a problem if the wages kept up with the cost of living but they are nowhere near. I'm looking for a job atm and they are literally offering minimum wages for candidates with years of experience. It will only get worse.
