    I once emptied a 40yd skip on the floor of the company I was supposed to be collecting it from, as the wouldn’t pay for it. He’s said there was no money on site and the rubbish was now my companies problem. If I wanted to take the skip I had to take the rubbish too! He wasn’t laughing when he realise he was wrong!!

    I used to have my own mini/midi skip business, I had a support bar going across the top of the arms, when people put boards down the sides to make the skip hold more all I did was lower the arms and reverse using the horizontal support bar to level the skip.. Quick, easy.. Job done.

      You worked for the wrong firms. My company has and will hire a proper legal team. Work for better people, the council guy will come out and say carry on leveling. At the end of the day our smaller truck comes by cleans it up and charges the customer.

      It is unfair. My argument would be unsafe laod due to customer putting to much in. Its unfair how the skip driver should be punished when it started with the person hiring the skip. Its just easier to fine the skip driver that's what it comes down to.

    • @oldgolfpunk

      Once a driver has hooked up to skip the waste becomes property of the person / business. Any rubbish tipped out is legally fly tipping, just as if the rubbish falls of during transport the driver / business is liable for what damage that could cause.

So I need take sure nothin will fall off and endanger people's lives especially children. So I always make sure the load is secure. I think it's a responsibility all builders should have. I call it the paranoid dad what if. Well minimise what you can I say.

      @@cbuts9240 you have to remember the skip company has to pay landfill tax on anything that isnt recycled.That is currently £160 a tonne, considering the cost of fuel drivers wages, the truck insurance etc etc it is very good value. Suggest you take it to the tip yourself you tight wad

    • @BizlaC
      @BizlaC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cbuts9240 Well think of the fees, £120 per day goes to the driver (if they are paying properly), another £100 per day at the other end where the skip is dropped off and sorted, then you have fuel costs which is easily £100-£150 per day, admin costs, additional staff in the office, maintenance on the truck and gear etc... the actual profit per skip going back to the owner is not as high as you might first think. I don't know the exact profit per skip, but I know that the customer would spend about the same to do it themselves with a trailer, doing multiple tip trips and spending all day long travelling to and from the tip.

    Don't upset the skip driver? The load's supposed to be level. As soon as he takes that skip, it's his responsibility. If something comes off and damages something or injures someone, that's his livelihood. People don't look at it this way and they just think he's being a dickhead when he isn't.

  • @bellerophonchallen8861

    Piss takers. Just get another skip. Everyone winges about paying for waste away, but it's got to be done and when you think that lot in there was about £260-£300 for 6 yds that's a good deal. If you had to take that in a van you'd be sorting metal to the scrappy, rubble to the free rubble tip, wood to a green waste, then still be left with glass, plastic and all the other stuff gets thrown in. You'd have to stack it up somewhere, load it in your van, then run it out to these places and unload it. Take two days. If they'd offered him £30 he'd probably have left it on, but those kind of blokes can't see it, they just keep s t r e t. c. h. I. n. g the rope until this happens. Good on the man.

    I've ordered hundreds of skips over the years and one day I was doing ground work with an excavator. I filled about 20 skips, it was the same driver all day, then on the last skip to be collected job completed, a different driver turned up and refused to take the skip! I said to him your company have been taking the skips all day at the same level, you turn up and your refusing to take just this one? Anyway after around 20 minutes of arguing my gaffer turned up. I explained to my gaffer what's been happening all day, he said to the driver here's a magic tenna! Can you take it now? The driver thought about it and said errm my wagon might lift it! So gaffer said here's a magic fiver! Will it lift it now? Skip driver said yeah it will now!! Loaded it on and off he went!! We still laugh about it to this day!! 😂😂😂😂

    Solution is either send a larger skip, another skip to get them to transfer to or simply leave your skip there until they empty it.
    Whoever tips it is responsable. Just be carefull doing it this way.😊😊
