      @fredriddles1763 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      BMVfilms Nothing outside of school projects so far. This mainly includes 2D top down games with swarm based enemies. Here’s a link to a group project I helped with in which I handled level design and scripting.
      www.scirra.com/arcade/other-games/fog-runaway-29809
      As a side note, I took over for level design at almost the last second when my teammate was forced to step down due to pressing deadlines. Its not perfect, but its showcases a little of my work.
      Also, outside of the music and art assets I designed and implemented the entire opening segment that comes after the title screen. I was very happy with how that turned out at the very least (also it REALLY helps to have a good sound guy on the team. I can’t compose for shit, his work was invaluable to the project).

    I don’t even play competitive smash; I just follow it. I like to learn a little about a character and hop right into casual games with friends. Nonetheless, I found this video useful. I have other passions I pursue-poetry, studying to become a teacher, acting-and I can assure you that I run into the same ruts described in your video. I might return to this guide from time to time to remind myself how to keep going and adapt to new circumstances. Obviously not everything you describe carries over, but the amount that does is surprising. Izaw, your passion for Smash Bros is very apparent to me, and I thank you for sharing that passion not just with your heart and hands, but with your mind. I can hear your revision process in the words you choose and the structure you employ. You aim not only to touch or even educate your audience but to wisen them. Thank you for your work, your determination, and your generosity.

    • @cotacachi12
      @cotacachi12 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Everything is connected my friend. The way you disclaplin your mind to be successful in a game, at its core, is the same way you discipline yourself for success in almost anything. Everything shares some fundamental commonalities and share one huge thing, you as a person. So how you discipline and carry a calm and positive mind gets carried over into everything you do. This determines your ability to grow. With the right mindset and composure you can grow indefinitely.

      @@davidtu3045 Same here, first time playing Smash. Started last week with Pikachu playing quickplay 1v1s and have stayed around 70,000 GSP, still losing about two thirds of the time but I am having a great time (slowly) improving. The biggest improvement factor is just building an awareness of what the other player is doing, and carefully timing my approaches, attacks, dodges, etc. so I catch them in a frame disadvantage. When I first started I didn't even realize how much I was just rushing in blindly with no sense of what the opponent was doing. All I could focus on was executing my own moves, but once I stopped focusing on technique during matches and started paying attention more to the opponent, I've been steadily improving.

    "It's better to know how to learn than to know." That hit me so hard! This reminds me to have the mindset of playing the game, trying to learn to constantly adapt and improve instead of playing to simply win. I also loved the way you said: play to beat the best, not to be the best. I admit, I could use lots of advice from pros and veterans when I lose against them to learn why I lost the way I did and what i could do different next time. Thus I'm gonna do my best to try and play with keeping that mindset in mind.

    Why did I almost cry to this, I’m just a noob who barely even plays this amazing game. I don’t know why, but this video reminds me of Wally’s Final Battle Theme Music In Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. That Theme Music represents this video perfectly: You must be confidant in your skills, passionate about what you love doing, and have faith that you beat the best, and of you lose that’s okay and you just have to keep working at it. I know that I may not want to be a pro, but this video makes me feel I damn well could be one if I worked at it. Thank you Mr. Izaw, your videos are just god like and I can’t wait for more! I know you probably won't see this comment, but I really appreciate your videos and I still want to pay my gratitude towards you Izaw. Today I lost confidence in my play and my reaction time and ability to think on my feet began deteriorate. I dropped out of Elite Smash and lost 700,000 GSP. I worked really hard to get in to Elite and spent countless hours studying your Link play among others. However, today when I saw this video I was absolutely inspired. I suddenly realised I need to feel confident. I always have enjoyed The Legend of Zelda games and decided to main Link several years ago in brawl. I thought link had no potential to do well. It was really only my brother and I playing for a long time. I could hardly handle loss after loss to him. I worked hard to be better than my brother, but to no avail. I believed Link was destined to be bad for ever after looking at every tier list up until the current one at the time. I never got a WII U when it came out so I sticked with Brawl not paying much attention to Smash 4. Eventually I heard about you from one of Introspective's videos. Both you and him made me realize that you can be good with any character. I respected Intro because he decided to main Charizard and despite his character's tier list placement he pulled through and although he isn't the best he is good at the game. However, while he gave me inspiration, it was you who showed me the art of Link and Smash in general. You showed me how to read my opponents. And most importantly, today you showed me how to believe in myself once again. I will never get too frustrated with the game again and instead take every match as a learning opportunity. Thank you Izaw for creating these videos and please continue help me improve both as a player and as a person. Thank you.
    Edit: Also I voted for you for Summit.

    I just went on exchange to Taiwan and things have been getting really rough recently with my rotary club. I've been losing sight of my goals and myself, getting caught up in the pressures. It was amazing to see how much it affected my play. This video was really helpful so thank you.

    I started playing Smash for the first time when Ultimate came out. Since then, I've been looking for videos in order to improve at the game and learn new things, but with these kind of videos, I've learned as many things about life and about myself as things about the game. It's awesome how the Smash community is so aware of the importance of mentality, which can be applied inside and outside the game.
    Thank you.

    What I’ve learned in my life:
    1. Smiling releases dopamine, and dopamine helps stress. If you fake smile, it will become a real one usually.
    2. Nervousness and excitement are the same chemical released in your brain, and the difference is mindset. Instead of “I’m nervous about fighting this top player” think “I’m exiting to fight this top player!”

    To be honest, this is not the next video in the series that i expected, but it's the one I needed. The concepts discussed absolutely apply to more areas of life outside of just Smash... Btw, I've been practicing all week with your previous training video for my first Smash Ultimate tournament I went to this past weekend! (i lost super hard, but damn if i didn't learn a bunch and meet cool people!) I loved the Sensory part at @6:07 because (SPOILER ALERT) it relates to a central theme of the novel "Ender's Game": To truly know your enemy is to love them.

  • @Mindwipe96

    What’s GODLIKE is the advice in this video. This was absolutely beautifully scripted. Everything you said in this video is invaluable advice for how not just play godlike, but really just improve as a player and maybe even a person as a whole. I’d say what you say about your mindset when playing is the MOST important thing when playing ANY game competitively and trying to get good. The way how you explained the type of mindset to have and how to think about and approach challenging situations was perfectly written. I couldn’t have said it in any better way. I know you said in the begging of the video this is mainly for players who are already pros and doing well in tournaments, but actually I’d say this is invaluable advice for absolutely anyone who’s trying to improve their skill at Smash, or again any game. I play Smash competitively and this is a huge help. But I also play one other game competitively, and that would be Splatoon 2, and even if this is for Smash that mindset explanation/advice is very VERY helpful for even me playing Splatoon 2. And I consider myself a pro or close to one in that game. I’ve quite a few videos explaining how you should have a positive mindset, and they’ve all helped me have I’d say a much more positive mindset than most players. But non before have explained it as clear, straightforward, and as extremely detailed yet easy to understand as you have. This video is absolutely amazing, and EXTREMELY helpful. I must sincerely thank you for making this. This is the absolute top quality of guides for Smash. I haven’t seen any that compare. And I definitely voted for you to go to Summit. 1. Main reason is I’m also a Link main. But now another is because of how much of a content creation god you are.

    god that stuff you said about having a character you play because you think you'll win vs having a character you play out of love hit me so hard
    i love greninja as a character so much but i find myself unable to do a majority of combos (or at the very least, i'm unable to think of them in a fight because of my bad habit of thinking i shouldn't bother with them because i can win without them)
    however, i feel like i consistently do amazing with roy, even in matchups that i assume would be bad for him (like zoners and such)
    i realize now just because i do better with roy (who i don't care about like at all because i don't care about fire emblem) doesn't mean i have to drop greninja
    i think i'm also kinda forcing myself to play greninja because a few of my friends get concerned when i play greninja because they think i'm godlike with him
    like that i have to keep up this image of being an amazing greninja player, especially since those are so rare in america
    although i guess you already answered that too, saying i shouldn't play characters to impress others
    god this video is just amazing
