Thanks for having me, and allowing me to rant about Mormonism LOL. I could go on all day! I really appreciated learning from you and I hope we do it again soon.
We must! It feels like we're long lost cousins or something
Totally! 😂💅🏻
Listening to the two of you is SO entertaining and educational. You’re my new favorite duo and I hope you make regular content together moving forward!
Both of you are so warm, kind, and knowledgeable ❤
This was so great! I can't wait for more conversations like this. You only touched the tip of the iceberg.
This was a great conversation and topic
As a woman who has worked in other countries under Islam, I cannot express how these videos are healing parts of the hurts I saw there in women who I deeply care about. Caught a lot of flak for being racist when I came back and shared my experiences. Found you through C2C. Thank you for speaking up.
Break the silence. Break the cycle.

Zionism is evil
Syrian American girl here: I remember talking about the 72 virgins thing with my mother and how I found it disgusting. She always argues with me when I comment about God's rules. it just shows how polygamy is a bigger problem in Islam than it seems, to the point where I am not allowed to think it's disgusting, because it's a God-given right. In that sense, women genuinely have no say if their man chooses to do so. Never believe it is "consensual" even if this is, it is exclusive to men only and it takes advantage of women.
Today polygamy is looked down upon, but that doesn't change anything. My mom's friend recently became a second wife, she's trying to leave her husband but she can't, and now she has to compete with another woman, and it's okay in God's eyes no matter what Muslims tell you about polygamy... Mohammed (the greatest messenger of the eternal Allah) was king at it.
She then told me about the time she asked my father if he would request 72 virgins (mind you.. she imitated the moment she asked the question, asking it as if she was a little girl asking her father if she could go to the playground or something, not exaggerating), my dad said no, of course, I know he is a good man and is also not as religious (notice how women are overly indoctrinated more than men because more rules apply to them btw).
Islam at its core, at its traditional state, is not for women. I knew this especially when I was raised in purity culture, and told that I could never marry a Christian man because he "wouldn't apply to Islamic rules" surrounding sex (I still never asked what that means and I don't care). Currently happy with my Mexican Catholic boyfriend, fingers crossed that our kid isn't baptized right after he is born lol. I hope I never have to raise my children with the curse of religious trauma.
Sorry babe. Catholics have major trauma too.
baptise your kid, but the child has to choose to be a Christian. Baptism just saves their soul, in Christianity.
Why can't she leave him? Is it not allowed?
@meowz.111 women don't have the right to divorce in islam. They need to ask their husband for it, but he can refuse. Only civil law granted them that right.
Baptize is good, later he or she can choose to be confirmed in the faith.
I'm shocked people always defend Islam. It doesn't face the same scrutiny other religions do. This is the first time I'm hearing a lot of this.
I think it's because criticizing Islam in majority-Christian countries runs the risk of promoting islamaphobia.
I think people don't love the idea of promoting discrimination against hijabis or middle-eastern folks. To me, I still think the ideas of Islam need public criticism, just like Christianity and any other religion, but such criticism ought to be done with a certain care.
I think Genetically Modified Skeptic does a good job of that, and of course I think ex-muslims like Aladdin here automatically humanize Muslims by being an example of someone who once believed these things, and who probably has Muslims in his life that he cares about.
Circular arguments of a Zionist agent provocateur

@@dawn8293 There are a lot of people who believe the Quran to be the perfect word of god and not open to criticism. Anyone who challenges it is shouted down, told they don’t understand what they are talking about, or they don’t understand it in Arabic. But it has to come under the same scrutiny that the Old and New Testament are subjected to. Then there could be some understanding.
I think it’s really tricky because people definitely criticize Islam in deeply Islamophobic ways in the US, so this is the context I hear Islam-critical talking points for the most part. (Grew up in the post-9/11 United States so you can imagine the things I heard about Islam growing up) As an ex-Christian atheist, I haven’t personally spent time critiquing Islam because I haven’t known enough about it and I don’t want to spread Islamophobic talking points. We definitely should be able to scrutinize all religions but I don’t like to speak on things I don’t understand, you know? I think a lot of people probably feel that way
My husband is culturally Muslim and I'm culturally Episcopalian, though neither of us are devout believers. One of the things I had to mourn when we got married was giving up my dream of becoming an adoptive parent. We spent many conversations trying to navigate if we realistically could do that together, and eventually we realized that even if the two of us could do it and do right by that child, that my in-laws could not. My husband told me about how fostered children had been treated by his extended family, being forced to sleep in the basement, not getting to go to family gatherings, basically being second class citizens within the household. Even if we didn't do that, that's how his extended family would treat our child, and it wouldn't be ethical to put them in that situation (and my husband is not willing to lose his family).
I think I will always be sad about this horrible treatment of adopted kids and the stigma around the children themselves. My mother in law just says "that's the way it is, it is right because it is the word of God" basically. Devastating.
That's so sad! Even if you in-laws can't formally adopt, they should still treat fostered children well - I'm quite sure *none* of their holy scriptures say "force fostered children to sleep in the basement, treat them as less worthy and second class citizens, and don't bring them to family gatherings"
@@mailill You aren’t sure. You are making a wild guess. Unless you grew up in a faith don’t assume you understand the religious laws and interpretations of those laws because you will always be wrong.
@@AngryPug76 Sigh!
@@AngryPug76 What do you know about what I know? Btw, I have a degree in history of religion and my father was a muslim convert
@@mailill I know from your words you aren’t a Muslim and have never been a Muslim and that you are guessing at how Muslims interpret their beliefs. That you heavily implied the in-laws mentioned are being cruel for meanness’s sake instead of for religious reasons despite the OP saying otherwise.
I trust the in-laws opinion on why the relatives are doing what they are doing. And encourage you to look up the Dunning-Kruger effect. It applies here.
I actually started allowing myself to deconstruct mormonism when I began watching anti-mlm videos. That's how similar they are.
That was part of my Mormonism deconstruction too!
Multi level marketing?
@dl1361 yes. Seeing some of the cult like practices in multi-level marketing groups helped me see things in my life that were similar in religion. There's a lot of black and white thinking and us vs them mentality, love bombing and transactional relationships, etc.
@@candacehoban4945 love bombing? Made me laugh. Thanks
@@candacehoban4945 The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is God's and Jesus Christ one and only true church here on earth.
I don't understand why people get mad and pissed off that the Church has money and completely ignores all the charity that the Church does. Would you the Church rather be poor and struggle for money?
I am an ex-mormon. My first stepdad converted us while I was being sa'd by him. When he was arrested for what he did to me, and confessed to doing it, we asked the church to excommunicate him so that we could feel comfortable and safe going to services. They refused to do so unless I went in front of the elders and told them what he did, I was only 11. That was when I became disillusioned with the church. I just couldn't see how a "house of God" could protect a predator that way. During the trial all of his nieces came forward to explain that my case was not the first time, and he started dating a woman from the church who had a 3 year old girl. I almost went back to church just to tell her about the monster he was. Religion never looked the same to me after that. Several Christian apologists tried to convince me that it wasn't God that I should turn away from but everytime I just asked them if they knew a church that had openly excommunicated a predator from their ranks and they couldn't think of one. I told them that no religion that protects child predators is holy and I would refuse to participate in such demon worship.
I've enjoyed all of your videos even though I was never Muslim and I didn't quite realize why until this video, but your explanations always struck a chord with me. Thank you.
wow, the "I had something bad happen to me and these few people didn't act the way I wanted, therefore I quit that whole group" idea is strong with you. At least you have a good reason for being less than rational. Why do you think 2 deep leadership is a thing in the church? We have training to spot groomers at least in church activities (in the home is a lot harder to determine). And honestly, do you really think that predators have no access to Jesus' atonement? Do you really believe asking for eyewitness testimony = protecting predators? You probably don't understand that you can't just believe every accusation out there, you actually need something before ex-communicating someone, otherwise we could just Kavanaugh everyone all the time. I actually think you are lying about the whole thing, because you don't make any sense, but maybe PTSD doesn't make sense anyway. You are associating things together that shouldn't be. I know people (LDS) who are SA victims who didn't get the justice they wanted in either the religious or legal domain and they don't blame the church or the government, they blame the perpetrator. And the church has helped them heal and build their own family where this type of abuse does not happen and protects the next generation of children. Also are you familiar with Clergy Confidentiality? Do you want your bishop to go and tell everyone things that you told him privately? That's why you don't hear about excommunications from SA's. Those are private conversations depending on the state, cannot be forwarded to the police. I would ask this though, which church did you find a good fit in? Did you ever find one? I'm guessing none because you have PTSD that overlaps with religion so you can't go to church. Then the question becomes can you overcome PTSD? Can God help you overcome it? Or are you just a person to be acted upon instead of a person to take action? The future will tell. Good luck.
@@cubic-h6041 I don't want to be disrespectful, but before attacking someone for their trauma and expirience with the church, you should actually look up how often it has NOT happened that childpredetors where exposed (by the church) to the authorities, but instead just moved into another district/ payed of the victims family ect.. read about it, watch some interviews, because I feel like you are mad at the wrong person here.
@@annimalasenko7326 yeah, I’m familiar with clergy confidentiality and the fourth amendment. Do we know where the predator lives? Was he legally put in prison? Death row? A public stoning sounds good to me. I’m mad at the alleged predator. People think it’s the church’s job to shout out all the confidential sins of its members from the pulpit. They are wrong. Not to mention this lady is confusing “protection” and “confidential”. I mean if the guy knows he was wrong and willing to go to prison, should he really be excommunicated? I don’t know all the details, but for victims to say they had a bad experience therefore we need to overthrow centuries of institutional tradition is silly. There are reasons we do it this way and it’s not “demon worship” as she states…smh. I’m starting to think that people with ptsd can’t think rationally through their trauma. Except that can’t be true as I know a handful of people with trauma who have rationally thought about it and came to terms with it and moved on.
I think Shelise and Aladdin are naturals together. I can't wait to see more collaborative content!
I come from C2C but I'm an ex muslim and can most probably relate to all your stories (mind you I've only seen this one livestream so far and yet to watch your life story). I'm glad to find another fellow apostate.

Same! Love both channels, love them even more when they overlap like this!
I grew up Catholic. We wore the scapular (two pieces of cloth attached to string so they hang one in the front and one in the back). It was said to be a symbol of the protection of Our Lady. I remember hearing stories about car accidents etc. where someone was protected because they were wearing it.
It's a sacramental, grew up Catholic as well but didn't understand anything mostly because of my own fault.
Came back to the Catholic Church a few years ago with a true conversion of the heart.
Never heard stories about car accidents, I was always told that if you died in the scapular that the Virgin Mary herself would not allow you to go to hell (but you can still get purgatory time). From my understanding, it has nothing to do with protection in this life but that won't stop people from making up stories and drawing false conclusions
I have a scapular, I leave it in my weekender bag for when I travel. I know people who wear them too. I have learned to love Catholicism over the years, because anything I had a logical dilemma with about the Church was always given a logical answer as to why the doctrine and scriptures say this and that. Also, Catholic clergy has to be very educated, most people don’t know that.
Thank you so much Aladdin and Shelise!

It's about keeping women safe and society from going off the rails
Like in America, and the West
Which it has
You'd be surprised how much Autism is addressed in Islam, from not shaking hands to banning alcohol, gambling, Usury, and Blasphemy
These are cornerstones of stability in a shared community
It’s not about society going off the rails: women dressed that way are actor out all the onus on women and then men don’t have to practice custody of the eyes and exert self control. When women are assaulted they are blamed- even in the Hadith my Muhammad himself. It’s to protect a man’s harem which is nearly on the level of property given that women need men’s permission for basically everything including divorce.
Look at everything women must do and men get to do in Islam in every case it is benefiting the man at women’s expense
@@Uncanny_Mountain As someone who is autistic and coming from a Muslim family, I disagree that “autism is addressed in Islam”.
Thankfully I take my noise cancelling headphones when I go to my parents (& late husband’s) native country, where the adhaan/azaan can be heard from every house. Fortunately, I’ve never had to cover my face, nor hair (except in mosques), otherwise I would feel claustrophobic.
I’m grateful my parents moved to the West (UK) before I was born, because there are very few Muslim countries in which I would feel safe, particularly as a single (widowed) woman & mother.

as a girl who grew up muslim we are raised to be pretty shy I think, just arabs in general, the girls are spoiled to that point or maybe they have horrible radical fathers lol.
We are taught that shyness or Haya is necessary for a Muslim woman. She can’t even “stomp” her feet as men would notice her.

5:07 I had always wondered why muhammad didn't adopt aisha, This was very informative. We can see the predatory parallels between the two religions as a vessel for power and sexual control.
Right?? If she was so important for islam because of being a wunderkind who can memorize lots of hadith, and she had to be close to the prophet, why not adopt her?
@ApostateAladdin I heard there was another man, Older than muhammad and more violent and disgusting who also wanted to marry aisha, So he was saving her from this other guy. But why not just adopt her... as a daughter?
I found this video very fascinating. I was brought up in the muslim faith but it was something that felt like a dictatorship that I must follow blindly without understanding the meaning behind it. I grew up in a western country so this religion was a minority and something I struggled to connect with. I was taught the quran in arabic which was not the native language we spoke at home. I dont consider myself religious but sometimes I feel like I live a double life because I am unable to be my true self with my parents so I can understand why you choose to cover your face for anonymity. I've often heard that the line that islam is a feminist religion but everything I was taught was the complete opposite and as a woman I must obey the man in my life. Thankfully I put it upon myself to marry outside the religion and culture as I shudder to think what my life would be like if I had succumb to the endless parade of men my parents tried to get me to marry.

I went to BYU, the private Mormon college, for grad school despite being an atheist and growing up pretty separate from religion. I still can't wrap my mind around how so many smart biology professors could believe in Mormonism.
It's also absolutely mindboggling when archaeologists are Mormon
💰💵 POWER💪
what was your experience as a non-mormon on campus? and what is graduate school like there? did you still have to follow the crazy rules and all that?
@@katvelyte It wasn't all bad, but I definitely didn't know what I was signing myself up for. Non-Mormon students have to get ecclesiastical endorsement or get endorsement from the campus chaplain, which usually meant having a chill conversation with him and telling him yes I will follow the honor code. Non-mormon grad students aren't expected to follow the honor code as religiously (heh) as everyone else, but that didn't mean I didn't feel extremely paranoid when I did break the rules. The faculty in my department were all pretty outstanding (despite consisting of entirely white men), but many of the students grew up in Utah and were fairly sheltered. I got a few ignorant questions that I'll never forget, like how I have a moral compass without a religion. I was definitely the odd duck there, as an unmarried, childless, atheist woman in her 30s.
Loved this conversation. What a beautiful interaction that could have never been possible within the confines of either strict religion

I just want to thank you two for doing this. Its so refreshing to see and hear people that kind, empathetic and logical. There seems to be a lack of people like the two of you in the spotlight. Thank you. And Oh WOW. I had no idea about the adopted children thing. And the back story... I mean WOW. How could someone believe Islam just on that fact? I don't understand it.
There is a quip in a novel by Benjamin Disraeli (He was both a novelist and also later Prime Minister of England in the reign of queen Victoria ) to the effect that "Mormon has more followers than Bentham." Now Jeremy Bentham was the founder of Utilitarianism - a philosophy that teaches that what is useful for the greatest number of people should be the dominant thing in a society. However it seems as if the attraction of religion and mysticism is likely to attract far more people than this philosophy. People will always have the need for spiritual beliefs of one kind or another. When one
system goes another one is sure to follow on - as long as we have suffering and death!
This was fantastic! Hope to see you both together again. Joseph Smith was definitely inspired by Mohammad’s multiple marriages.
A Mason, and Masons stole Islam and turned it into the model of Western society while they robbed us blind
Aladdin, so I grew up in a Trinitarian Christian church and we were told the Trinity is like an egg. The egg has three parts: the white, the yolk, and the shell, but all together they are an egg. Similarly, there is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit but together they are three parts of God with different roles.
This never quite made sense to me. I always just thought of it like God has aspects. The Holy Spirit is God inside you helping you stay on the straight and narrow. Jesus is the part of God who came to Earth and died for our sins and he was who we always pray to. Then God is the original Creator being.
That was actually really hard for me to dig that out of my brain. It's been a long time since I was taught or cared about the Trinity. It might not make any more sense because the real trick is to hear this 4 million times until your brain just accepts that God is a 3 in 1 special.
"3 in 1 special" reminded me of the shampoos I used when I was a teenager lol. Thank you for sharing!
You didn't understand it back then and you still don't.
God is the nature.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit are the persons.
They are not 3 aspects, they are 3 persons. And the fact that so many seem to struggle with understanding the most central dogma of Christianity is itself evidence in favor of the thesis that the Holy Trinity is a revealed doctrine and therefore breaks minds because God is God he's not a simple being to understand.
Relatively recently came back to the Catholic Church myself.

Fascinating and so so important. There is so much damage these religious systems have done and every day keep doing to so many good people 💔 Understanding Mormonism makes it so clear how even major religious systems can really be born out of power hungry conmen interested social, political and even militant power & control, sex & abuse, and frankly, money. It’s so important to remember that Mormonism is a 100 billion $ corporation with wild amount of political power. It’s SO important to question the roots of religious organizations you belong to and realize that they are wholly separate from the value that individual people can gain from personal beliefs in higher power or what ever spirituality one might subscribe to. Thank you for this 🙏

"A Study in Scarlet", the first Sherlock Holmes story, published in 1887, has a back story about Mormon polygamy with a young woman being forced into a plural marriage, and an alleged secret enforcement gang, the "Danite Band", that would threaten and pursue, kidnap or even kill people trying to escape the cult. At the beginning, Dr. Watson, the narrator, mentions serving in the Afghan War and his narrow escape from the "murderous Ghazis", Islamic fighters in Afghanistan. Likely Arthur Conan Doyle was thinking about the similarities between the two cults!

Don't let him take over your family or convert anyone. Make sure anyone in your family is educated about the cult nature of Islam.

Having watched the beginning of this stream on C2C and the second part here, I learned a lot about Islam. It’s fascinating to hear about the similarities between LDS and Islam, especially from two intelligent, open people. I’m a new subscriber as of today and look forward to watching more of your content.
