Thank Both of you for doing this video. My husband and I are just beginning our adventure. We've been married for over 20 years, while others were buying the new cars, the best phone's, and taking vacations every year we were saving and working on paying off all our debt. About 10 years ago we were able to get to the point of saving all our extra money to purchase our country property. It's been a long 9 months of delay after delay to get the property to where we can move to it. We bought a fixer-upper. The plan was new roof, siding and gutters. It turned into having to shore up the roof so it didn't collapse, demoing the South West side of the house because of termites, to having to replace all the doors and almost every window in the house because as the roof settled the windows were shattering. The delays happened due to being able to source the materials. Often we had to wait weeks for items to come into stock. Or our contractor would have to reframe the windows completely to fit into the house. Our friends and family were whispering "how are they able to afford it?" Years of hard work, pinching pennies, no vacations and saying " if we can't pay for it in less than two years then we didn't need it. Now our next hurdle is getting infrastructure in place for our animals. I wouldn't change any of it at all. Thank You again! Much Love from our family to your family 💞
Thank you ladies! I just finished tending to my chickens, rabbits..in coveralls, rain coat, muck boots..due to 1st rain in 44 days.
This is my Sabbath year. Our house was built in 1939, 922 sq ft, 1 bedroom...with a 300 sq ft shop..I have to grow in raised beds, due to very sandy soil. Less than 1/4 acre. Very tiny rural town in NW Oklahoma.
I grew up on a cotton farm in SW Oklahoma.
I've always had a garden, shop farmers markets.. grocery stores...
I'm 56, mother, grandmother...never owned anything fancy, I love this life!
It is a very sad fact that when you achieve a little bit of success after years of hard work, jealousy from people shows its ugly head. Even worse is when family says mean things to you. It is the exceptional person who is truly happy for you.
This podcast is wonderful! It is so refreshing to hear. Jill, talk about things like clothing and money. We have also been homesteading since 2011 and often hear things like we are not true homesteaders because we have a big house and more money than most families. We worked hard for many years to be able to afford what we have and my husband served almost 25 years in the military. But it's crazy to think I have to explain that all the time. Thank you for sharing this

I’ve never put on a linen dress and apron to go clean my chicken coop, I’m a t-shirt and jeans gal too. I follow several TH-cam channels where the women dress like that and I feel they are more of a cooking and decorating channel and not a “homesteading” channel which is fine and I do enjoy them. For a good homesteading channel I turn to Justin Rhodes, Jill, and Roots to Refuge.
Fyi - todays jeans are not quality work clothes ( you knew that ) , they just dont take the beating they did years ago - awfull waste of money - Govt BDU's are padded where needed, double and triple stitched, pockets galore - you can still get them at Army Navy Surplus - not cheap tho

Yes..... welllll.....then....there's me...did I ever get the dream of a home and acreage?....never....but at 82...I still hope and plan....we moved soooo many times.......because one of us was grown up and paid w cash like her parents, and the other one of us lived on credit cards and when he died God gave a miracle where nothing was owed by me.....now I save and plan...and try to move forward.....by God's grace....He is faithful and gives hope.....

The LOVE of money is the problem, not the money. Money can be used for blessing others or selfishly.
Exactly! Jesus said it is harder for a rich man to enter heaven than a camel through the eye of a needle... but he also said with God, all things are possible. All material belongings, money, etc we have are God's... they are simply a test to see how we use them to serve or not to serve God.
Ahhhhh hearing you both speak of TH-cam makes me so happy! I too had a TH-cam channel for a long time and just had to break away. I still have people ask me when are you coming back to TH-cam? When are you going to post more videos? And I'm sort of like Jill and I'm like..... Ahhhhhh probably never. It's hard to just let it go but it is very freeing when you do

I think part of the problem of our attitude towards money and those that have it is due to the fact that, for SO MANY of us, hard work does not always give us the rewards/money that we grind for. I am 49 years old now, and have worked my ass off since I was 14. What do I have to show for it? NOTHING! I went to college and graduated.. like I was supposed to, right? Got the bachelor's degree to show for all my hard work and studying. Did that amount to anything? NO. I still worked (my ASS OFF, mind you!) various minimum-wage jobs because I couldn't find anything "better" that would hire me even though I went to college. Got the college DEBT which I cannot pay off because.... it's just not worth it. It's not the lack of work ethic. It's NOT "nObOdY wAnTs To WoRk AnYmOoOoooRe!!!" It's just that, for way too many of us, putting in the WORK is not WORTH IT. It's not PAYING OFF! If we get raises, they don't match the inflation rate.
You talk about "I worked hard and WAS ABLE TO SAVE MONEY."
It's IMPOSSIBLE to save money you DON'T HAVE.
Work smarter, not harder... the American dream is real. If working harder isn't working... work smarter.
It 's NOT how much you make , but what you KEEP that counts - some people know how to MAKE MONEY but dont have a clue how to save and make it work for you - there are 2 in the relationship of you - you and your money - make your money work as hard as you do - it apply's to all levels - people want to live like The Rockefellers on a clerks salary - thats why they have no money - you grow into it and it with you

It is a mystery to me why individuals need to make nasty comments. Should one not like the content, it is very easy to unsubscribe and move on. Why do so many feel the need to insult creators? Does it make them feel better about themselves?
