    To make it short.
Queen Marika is a mortal that ascended to GodHood and the Elden ring is the physical manifestion of this godlike power (given to her by outer gods).
In the Lands Between (the place where the story evolves), the living beings are affected by the power of the Elden Ring of Queen Marika and this power is called "grace". Queen Marika separated concept of death from the elden ring therefore creating the rune of death.
Someone stole a part of that rune of death and used it to kill Godwyn the Golden, the first born of Queen Marika.
After this even the Elden Ring was shattered and a war started between the demi gods trying to get the pieces of the elden ring (to grow stronger).
The Tarnished are the descendants of a warrior tribe that lost their grace (power given by Marika to the living beings of this place).
The story takes place after the tarnished got their grace back. Your purpose is to kill the demi gods to get the Elden Ring pieces back, and become the new Elden Lord

@@VictorNightroad It's a great explanation, one part which may be confusing, is that the Elden Ring is not a physical object, rather, it is a bunch of "laws", of rules the world follows, like death. When Marika plucked the rune of "Destined Death" from the Elden Ring, she removed the concept of death from the world.

    • @Heavyweapop
      @Heavyweapop 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@Noizzednot exactly the concept of death, but rather, "peoples fated deaths". That is why the Rune of Death is also called "Destined Death". Its not that mortals couldnt be killed, as evidenced by the cycle of rebirth described as erdtree burial. The robes of the raya lucaria sorcerers say they have "extended life", not immortality.
The REAL reason to remove the rune of death was to make Marika, the Erdtree, and the demigods unkillable. THEY gained true immortality from the removal of the rune of death, most likely because Marika is the vessel of the Elden Ring so her and her children are effected more by it than others, and the Erdtree is "the golden order itself".
All that being said, the golden order isnt just the empire Marika ruled. It is FIRSTLY the current organization of the Elden Ring. Grace is not inherent to the Elden Ring, it is simply Marikas version of its power. MARIKA made the Elden Ring into the shape it is now, creating the golden order when she removed the rune of death from the Elden Ring, as told to us by finger reader Enia.
Before Marika, Dragonlord Plasidusax, the ancient dragons and their god held possession of the Elden Ring, and they did not have grace or bestow it upon thier followers, the beastmen. The organization of the Elden Ring during THAT time can be seen in the arena where you fight Maliketh, the black blade. You can actually see it flash by in the first trailer, right as Melina says "the golden order is broken to its core".

    SPOILERS.
The frour armed woman in the last trailer is Ranni, the 6th child of Marika The Eternal.
She is a demi-god(step-daughter, her father, Radagon, became Marika's consort) and one of the only one who didn't directly participated in the Sattering, a war to get the Great Runes(pieces of the broken Elden Ring). However, she plays a big part in the start of the war.
She is the only demi-god you can interact peacefully in the game(for now), and by following her questline, you can unlock her special ending.
About the Shattering(possible lore spoilers): What happened during the war is mostly made up of more or less credible theories about what happened and when, so some people might want to correct me, but i'm going to explain how i think it happened.
The destruction of the Elden Ring was a plot involving multiple demi-gods and Marika. I belive that Ranni, Miquella and Marika might have worked together in order to make it happen.
What we know is that Ranni stole a piece of the Rune of Death, the only thing capable of killing a demi-god permanantly, and used it to kill Godwyn, Marika's first and golden child. However, there is a twist. She didn't fully kill Godwyn. She killed his soul, turning him into the first undead(i won't expand on the consequences). But the Rune of Death is meant to kill both the soul and the body.
That's when the plan of Ranni is revealed. Ranni is an Empyeran, a special individual eligible to acsend to godhood.
But that meant that Ranni had to acsend under the influence of an Outer God(gods who live outside of the physical realm and who manifest themselves through mortal vassals).
In Ranni's case, she was "claimed" by the Greater Will, the main Outer God in the Land Between, when it sent her a Shadow, a wolf like servant named Blaid.
Anyway, Ranni refused to be a puppet to the Greater Will, and killed her body with the Rune of Death at the exact moment Godwyn's soul was killed, and transfered her soul in(ironacally) the four armed puppet of the trailer.
After Godwyn's "death", Marika reacted by shattering the Elden Ring, the material manifestation of the Greater Will's power in the Lands Between. The rest of the Demi-gods then fought each other in order to get the Great Runes resulting of the Ring's destruction. Each of the Demi-gods got one Great Rune.
But what are the Great Runes ? They are pices of the Elden Ring, which enforce the curent order of the world(for exemple, when the Rune of Death was removed from it, things stoped dying permanantly). So, if one Demi-god managed to mend the Elden Ring, they would get to rewrite the laws of the world to match they'r goal. Also, the Great Runes are powerfull sources of energy that multiple Demi-gods used to do something.
Thecnicaly, one Great Rune is enough to mend the Elden Ring, but one obstacle stood in they'r way. Morgott, who used his Gret Rune to seal the entrance of the capital, stpping any one that doesn't have at least two Great Runes from entering.
The Shattering never realy ended, but the last battle of the war was the Battle of Aeonia, which opposed the two mightyest Demi-gods, Starscourge Radhan and Malenia Blade of Miquella.
I belive that the battle happened for multiple reasons: Radhan was heading for Godrik in order to take his Great Rune, putting him at two and taking the lead.
He was the only Demi-god outide of the twins Malenia and Miquella still seriously in the race and the only one capable of threatening Malenia.
His death would go Miquella's way by allowing the stars to resume they'r movements(yes Radhan is a besat that stoped the stars from moving).
The battle ended in a settlemate, Radhan went mad from Malenia's Scarlet Rot(influence from an Outer God because she is also an Empyeran). Meanwhile, Malenia was basicaly knocked out permanently because she used the Scarlet Rot, and her brother, Miquella, was kidnapped diring Malenia's campain against Radhan, so he wasn't her to cure her.
The reason why Makira and Miquella are thought to be involved in Ranni's plot is because the assasins Ranni used to kill Godwyn where from the race of Marika, the Numen, Marika visibly started doubting her faith in the Greater Will and was eager to bring change because of her nature.
Miquella's end goal is close enough from Ranni's that they could ave accepted the victory of the other, alowing them to work together. And the fact that they both want to kill Radhan to free the stars, who are linked to they'r fate(for Ranni) and for astronomical events(for Miquella).
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

If you react to a (spoiler-free) synopsis of the plot, you will have a bit deeper understanding of the world and it's history. I've mentioned in previous comments on your other videos, but FromSoft (the developer behind this game) has their own unique gaming "language." This language extends from the basic mechanics, how you play the game, and how you interact with the game(s) and it's/their world(s); It also extends onto how all FromSoft's games' stories are told. The stories are told more esoterically, more cryptically, than the average piece of media in any other medium. You are given a brief plot, which often doesn't make much sense when you first hear it. Through trailers, gameplay, exploration, lore written into item descriptions (mimicking the brief lore found at the bottom of some Magic the Gathering cards- if you're unaware of Magic, it's a tabletop card game that's been around since the early '90s and has been a huge inspiration on Miyazaki, the main director of Elden Ring), dialogue from bosses and NPCs, incredibly-detailed environmental storytelling (down to the smallest details), and cutscenes, the player will begin to slowly fill in the story's empty canvass in their mind.
At the start of any given soulsborne game, you will have little understanding about why you are doing what you're doing, why there are enemies and why everything wants to kill you. However, as all of the elements of the painting that is the story begin to slowly be added to the empty canvass, the edges of the story will begin to take shape in your mind. More deep-diving will reveal more information, like returning to earlier areas to observe a specific statue or piece of architecture once you notice a pattern, or for example, you notice that there is a single encounter with a certain type of enemy that you later notice are native to a different region or zone- everything means something. Everything is deliberate and serves a purpose in the lore/story.
At the end of your first playthrough, you may finish the entire game, doing 100% of all of the content and still only have a vague idea about what any of it was all about. That's the beauty of this type of story-telling (that is not for everyone, btw). For those who love mysteries and uncovering esoteric secrets, though, this style of storytelling is great. It's almost like archaeology- you're thrust into an unfamiliar world and the character that you play as has just as minimal knowledge as you, the player, does, but via exploration and studying the scraps of lore scattered throughout, you can piece together a tapestry, or decipher parts of a key or legend that will help you slowly decipher the metaphorical hieroglyphics of the game language. The game will never reveal everything, though. A lot of it is left to interpretation, very similar to our own understanding of ancient history, or by connecting events you've heard about with what you see and experience in-game. You'll sometimes have to make leaps of logic. Just like in our own reality, you will have to discover if what you've read or heard is meant literally or, like some of the scripture from our own religious Holy Books, is it allegorical, metaphorical, or just complete exaggeration or lies- based on what you've seen and how observant you are to subtext, reading between the lines, and your overall media literacy, you may be able to find out some of the answers to these questions yourself.
The beauty of these games is that you don't even have to be interested in uncovering the story to enjoy the games. The story is just the icing on top of an already delicious, masterpiece cake. The combat is stupid fun. The art and design are grotesquely beautiful, cool and creative regardless if you understand the form and function or not. You can take away whatever you want from these games. If you just want an awesome action game with great combat and minimal interruptions to said gameplay, it's for you. If you want a super deep role-playing game with a high-skill ceiling, a leveling system that works perfectly with the weapons- and magic-scaling system, with hundreds of different outfits and customization options to make a truly unique rpg experience, it's there for you. If, like me, you're all of these PLUS you're also a lover of uncovering mystery and secrets, these games will scratch that itch and will not only provide hundreds upon hundreds of hours of gameplay (and also unlimited replayability to try new builds/stats, complete different branches of quest-lines, etc etc), but also hundreds of hours of additional content in the form of youtube videos, twitter threads, and entire subreddits entirely devoted to figuring out the lore, histories, and story about each of FromSoft's game titles, and how everything connects in each game.

Hello again, I am here to drop another Elden Ring lore bomb. This time I will be going over who the Tarnished are, some examples of Tarnished, and some misconceptions that could be present from some of the unused or changed lore in these trailers.
First off, who exactly are the Tarnished. The Tarnished are a group of individuals who lost the grace of the Erdtree, which makes it impossible for them to go through a process called Erdtree burial. Erdtree burial is when someone is buried near the roots of the Erdtree, which eventually leads to the rebirth of that same person. When the Tarnished lost their grace, either by choice or forcefully, 3 possible things could happen. If the Tarnished was a great champion or philosopher, they would be allowed to stay in the Lands Between and be buried in a tomb. If the Tarnished was a mad man or violent criminal, they would be imprisoned and when they eventually died their body would be left to rot in the cell. If the Tarnished was neither of the previously mentioned things, they would be sent out of the Lands Between. However, the Tarnished that left the Lands Between were not lacking someone to lead them.
The one who led most of the tarnished that left was the original Tarnished, Godfrey, the First Elden Lord. You see, Godfrey was a warrior who fought for Queen Marika, and eventually the last enemy of Marika was felled. It was at that point, the hue of his eyes faded due to the loss of his purpose. In response to this, Queen Marika divested Godfrey and his warriors of their grace and said to them "Then, after thy death, I will give back what I once claimed. Return to the Lands Between, wage war, and brandish the Elden Ring. Grow strong in the face of death. Warriors of my lord." This meant that after Godfrey and all of his warriors eventually died, their grace would be returned to them and they would be allowed to return. This, however, was not exclusive to Godfrey and his warriors. Grace would be returned to all Tarnished, effectively reviving them. The most important of the Tarnished that were revived were Godfrey, the First Elden Lord, Sir Gideon Offnir the All-Knowing, and most importantly the protagonist, whose name is decided by you.
The only large misconception that could have been gotten from these trailers is the fact that all Tarnished are descendants of heroes. Tarnished could be anyone, there is no needed criteria. The protagonist doesn't have any legendary feats or widely known tales, they're just some random person who lost their grace. Some Tarnished are even the heroes themselves, such as Godfrey, who after leaving the lands between abandoned his name and his title, becoming the simple warrior that he once was long ago, Hoarah Loux.
Well that's really all I have to say on the lore of the Tarnished. There are many things that I missed or didn't mention since either they were either unimportant or you would easily find them out if you were to ever play the game. I'm going to restate one thing that I said the last time I gave lore on the game. I'm not an expert in lore, and I may have gotten multiple things wrong, this just comes from my large amount of experience in the game.

One more very important thing I forgot to mention. There are 2 trailers for the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC that is coming out June 21. You might want to give those a watch, but I am warning you, it will be 20 times more difficult to understand what is going on in those trailers than the one you have watched for the base game.

ER is an original story, but uses a lot of mechanics from past fromsoft games. in terms of Lore and such, it is better to pick it up along you playing the game and reading item descriptions and checking the environment.

Elden Ring is the sequal of Dark souls. But the story of the two games are not conected in any way. It can be seen as a stand alone Game. (You don't need to play Dark souls, to be able to play Elden Ring)

      It's a spiritual sequence

There’s a cool theory that elden ring is a prequel to the dark souls games like the frenzy flame ending leads to dark souls 3. The age of stars leads bloodsborne. The fractured ending leads to demon souls
