I stopped and said "a fresh set of eyes finds more beans," and they both agreed without a second thought.
My turkey hunting buddy is a state trooper. We meet up a couple hours before day break. He drives his squad car and to locate birds he hits his siren for a couple seconds and the Toms all shock gobble. Works every time
Steve excellent question for the basic generic hunter and generic turkey setup. Thank you for thinking of us generic guys just trying to get it done when we can.

In his place as the boss? So clay made steve the boss after having the shock gobble convo? Thats insane. I guess they go by a different set of rules in the hunting world. Im anxious to see what steve did to make clay promote him to boss
@@Sundog0811 Are you asking yourself questions and answering them in the same paragraph? In his place, as in, cut him down a few pegs. Got a question. Live here in california, my dad went to bass pro shop to buy my little brother (age 15) a shotgun for his first year of hunting. The guy behind the counter told my dad he couldnt buy my little brother a shotgun and that it is a crime to buy a gun for another person. I understand that law for another adult, not for your minor child. But how is it you could hunt as a teenager and bass pro shop wont sell your parents a gun?
He was misinformed. A father to son transfer or a son to father transfer (Mother too) is exempt from straw buyer restrictions. Next time tell the Bass pro Guy nothing just fill out the paperwork and take your shotgun..... he aint your friend.
@@jacobventura3468 Yes brother thats totally legal, it is even legal to let a friend who is not related borrow a firearm for hunting purposes. My only advice is to buy your firearms from a local Mom n Pop (or as close to it as possible) gun store that serves the community youre local to. Bass pro is a fun experience and great for fishing but I encourage others to purchase their firearms from a local dealer for many reasons which I wont list here.
The manufacturing "system" if you will is designed around global economy. It's difficult to manufacture everything in the US because regulations make it impossible. It's super frustrating.
When the guests are companies Meateater has acquired, the podcast turns into a long sales pitch. To each his own but prefer the episodes with an interesting outside guest.
If you've bought a mechanical advantage from a corporation (call, decoys ect.) The poetry is somewhat lost. Before you compare spinners and fly fishers or bows and rifles. The art is in the effort. I know quite a few bow hunters that won't hunt in the rain😂
most fly fishermen piss me off if they have that attitude that if you don't fly fish you ain't shit ... I hate that attitude...! the reason they feel that way is cuz they don't know much about spinfishing they think all there is to it is chuck a lure into the water an that's it an it's all about the full creel in the shortest time possible then they want to make it illeagle for me to fish my favorite spot because it's now flyfishing only
Flyfishing elitism is one of the most hilarious things to me. I grew up bait fishing, changed over to lure fishing, and then got into fly fishing. Now I use all three depending on where I am and what I'm going for. It makes the fly guys seriously enraged when you're "doing it all wrong with no respect for the art" as you're out-fishing them. It's pointless trying to explain concepts like depth and speed to some of those guys. They won't believe any of it until they watch it happen, and then half will claim that it's some violation of fly fishing ethics because your manner of casting wasn't flashy and smooth or you stripped it in like a barbarian. I even had one guy flip out on me because I was fishing where he was fifteen minutes prior and kept the legal ones. I asked him if he was there to harvest some food or just playing, "touch the fish," and he absolutely lost it. Dude seriously thought it was wholly unethical to fish 40yds from him in a place he already passed up and actually eat the fish instead of harassing them for personal enjoyment. Being half my size and twice my age didn't shy him away from threatening to fight me for "ruining the art." 🤣
Meateater credibility of being for the “Everyman” is dwindling every week. For sure trying to sugarcoat it is a giveaway while trying to play it off. It’s really not that difficult to keep producing jobs here. The investment unstitching is where he justified cheap FOREIGN LABOR because you know.. it’s the only way 😞
Great podcast. Would have been better without Clay. Was nothing until Meateater, now rides Steve's coat tail. Most egotistical person on there besides Cal.
Why the fuck do you people feel the need to say shit like this? Who the fuck are you? If you don't like the way someone is, then fine, but you don't need to type up these passive aggressive asshole comments for everyone else to see.

Clay kind of put Steve in his place on the shock gobble convo. He should do that more often. The truth about owl hooters, buddy. Let 'em know.

Somebody tell me how to get these songs they keep playing! I can't figure this stuff out to save my life.
3d printing the zipper pull might solve the problem.

Reaping/Fanning banned in Wisconsin. I looked up the 2023/24 regs and couldn't find this. Is this accurate?
I don’t think so. I have to imagine I would have heard about it. It should be banned though.

Biggest mistake is calling too much.
Especially on Osceolas. We have so many predators here that the turks are really quiet on the ground.
