- In this video, I have explained the process to change your university after your USA F1 student visa is issued. If you have been issued a USA F1 visa, and later you wish to change the university, then this video explains the process to do so.
My USA visa has been approved and I noticed that in my i20 there spelling mistake of my address and I have updated the address after my visa and got new i20 of updated address will it affect my visa ? Or will it cause some problem to me ?

I got my visa from louisiana tech university. I am attendimg this uni on march. After completing one semester, i am planning to transfer the university but do not want to transfer credit hours and want to study as a freshmem student to another university as there is more scholarships available for freshmen student. Is it possible to study as a freshmen?
Yes it is possible. Transfer of credits is always your choice.
Okay sir, what if i want to transfer from university A to B but university B doesn't require anything so can i do it after i join university B and will i be be able to fo the transfer later?
If you are on a F1 visa, with the name of University A stamped on your visa, and do not attend university A, but directly go to B, then you should apply for a fresh visa with university B's I20 or do the transfer out, transfer in process.
Hi sir, I secured my visa for Fall however i decided to go with another university however it would be in the next spring intake and i am not wanted to give another visa Interview, what's the way for this?
@@user-oh5xz7il1n there is no way for this. You will have to apply for a fresh visa again. You may be eligible for the Dropbox option, if they still have that provision then.

hello sir! i have applied at uni A and got my visa approved but I haven't paid the fees yet but i want to transfer to uni B and got all the approved I-20 however i am still in india. Can I do the tranfer in and out process through contacting them via email or should i just wait till I reach USA.
@@genjiff2366 you can check with the uni A on that. But I would recommend applying for a new visa with Uni B's i20

I have started DS-160, I book a Visa slot with university A, but I get i-20 from University B and I submit the same DS-160 with university B details. Is it possible?
If you haven't yet submitted the ds160 you can change the university details in the same ds160 and submit it.

What if I’m actually in the US on university A visa and wish to change to university B. Will it be a problem if I wait for the next semester to attend my chosen university ?
If you can complete the transfer out, transfer in process immediately, you can change the university this semester too

Since you already have a visa you can opt for the dropbox appointment once you get your new I20. Dropbox appointment dates should be available.
@@Academy_One can't he just edit the current application? It will save him some visa fees. I also might have some similar situation, I am still waiting for responses from 2 universities. If I fill and submit the DS-160, can I edit it before the visa info? Or can I reschedule the visa dates?

Can I transfer from University A in which my visa is approved for spring semester to University B without leaving my home country. The semester for University B starts in Summer.
You should reapply for a new visa using the I20 of the new university before you leave for the USA

I got my F1 Visa approved. my program start date as per the I-20 is on July 31st, 2023. I will be entering the USA on July 1st, 2023, maintaining the 30-day grace period rule. However, I am currently on the waitlist at another university, which I want to transfer if admitted when I am in US. That other program start date is on Aug 21st, 2023. Will I face any issues to transfer to this university if admitted., as the starting date of that program will be more than 30 days from his date of my entry into the United States?
Generally no, but still ask the International students office of your current university about the same

I took the second option, now I conpleted 2 semester at second university, one thing you can suggest student that follow that 1 month start date window period and also make sure fill out AR-11 form form informing USCIS about your address change.
@@divakaryadav8174 the process that I have described in ONLY applicable if you have not yet started your studies in the USA. If you already completed a semester at the university, you don't need to change the visa, you only need to change your I20.
Transfer out -transfer in does not apply to you in that case.

No they can't/won't deny.

What is to be done if university has suspended a student in 1st semester and asking to take transfer to other university or the university will terminate?
Then you should immediately apply for admission to a new university and once you get an I 20 from the new university, you can join the new university

@@bansarishastri8854 In this short time, nothing can be done. The best option would be to come back to India and try for admissions for Spring (Jan) 2024 or then try for some other country.

Reapply for the visa when you get the I20 of the University B. You will be allowed to use the dropbox facility.

You will have to do it at the end of sem, i.e. from Jan 2024 you can join a new university, provided you have an admit form there.
I got visa approved for Northeastern University 2 days back. But now I got admit from UCD for the spring intake. I want to join UCD. Is it possible to change university and join UCD without any interview?? Please reply. Thanks in advance
When you get your I20 from UCD you can opt for the dropbox option. You will not be required to attend the interview.

Hi, I was recently admitted to the master's program at SUNY Buffalo, obtained my I-20, and got F1 Visa approved. However, I have now been accepted into Northeastern University with a scholarship. I don't know how to make this shift happen, shall I go ahead with a fresh visa application and attend the biometrics and interview again? Or is there any provision to update my existing visa? You will have to Reapply for the visa when you get the I20 of NEU. You will be allowed to use the dropbox facility. You can apply for transfer of sevis fee.

I got my admit from NYU after my F1 visa was approved for ASU. Now for sevis fee transfer do I need to cancel my ASU I 20.
You don't need to cancel anything. Just apply for a new visa. Transfer SEVIS fee, use drop box.

NYU suggested this, You will need to work with your other institution to cancel your initial I-20 and then apply for a new initial I-20 from New York University. If you have already paid the SEVIS fee for your other I-20, you can transfer the payment from your previous I-20 (once it’s canceled) to your NYU I-20 (once it’s created).
@@satyamkumar7039 you just need a new I20 from NYU. You can email ASU to cancel the I20, but its not required

After you submit the documents during your dropbox appointment, It is upto the assessing visa officer to decide if you should be issued a visa without an interview or then call you for an interview. In most dropbox cases the visa is issued without an interview, but in few cases the applicant is called for a visa interview

You will have to first contact your university that issued your M1 visa and then ask them to do a Transfer Out process for you. Once that is done, you can then request your new university to do a transfer in.
And if I want to transfer before arriving to the us?
@@menashalapy2578 The as I mentioned in the video, you will have to reapply for the visa and get the new visa stamped on your passport.
If the school make it complicated for transferring an I ask my new school for
A new I20 and a new SEVIS and then travel outside the us and back again and update my case ?

Check with your university's international office if you would require a new visa to get stamped on your passport before you re-enter the USA or if you can re-enter the USA on your earlier visa and the new i-20

If I'm planning to take transfer from a uni to b uni. After i reach there and opted for transfer out from uni a then what will be the process at uni b? Do they have any other process for transfer or it's just the same as for a freshmen ( applying then getting offer letter then getting i20. Its a long process right? Can it be done in one month?
if you plan on applying for the next semester then you will have to apply for the new I20 and repeat the same process as now. The transfer out, transfer in work only of you are transferring this current sem and already have the I20 from University b
@@Academy_One no I want it to do it before joining the university A. I heard that there's some grace period of 30 days during which we can change the university.
@@Hokageminato I dont exactly understand your situation. If you have already started studying at Univ A then you will have to apply to Univ B, get a new I20 and transfer. If you have recently gone to the US and want to transfer to Univ B in this very semester (before the start of classes of Univ A) then you will have to opt for the transfer out process. You can opt for either way, but if you decide to transfer next sem, you will have to take full time courses from Univ A for this semester. For more details talk to the international students office of your university.
