@Zenator Wing anyone who stumbled upon that evolution by complete accident should be both incredibly lucky and confidant, since it requires Yamask to have a good amount of damage on it.
@Ashuraman and most people who aren’t aware of Yamask’s new evolution would use a potion or super potion before going underneath the specific structure. That is, if they’re not using a guide.
This was so lucky for him, his mods were being hypersensitive to anything that could have a whiff of being a spoiler, so he'd probably never know (if he didn't ask).
He's really lucky to have been able to do these accidentally. Sword and Shield seems to have invented the most convoluted evolution methods imaginable.
I mean, convoluted evolution methods have always been part of pokemon. For example, needing to have a Remoraid in party to get mantine. The whole Wurmple situation. Tyrogue stat based evolution. Shedinja evolution. Only female Combees being able to evolve. Trading with specific items or trading for a specific pokemon. Trade evolution in general. And by convoluted I mean, with out prior knowledge you are very unlikely to find out how those evolutions work.
I expected Alcremie because of the way he starts these episodes, and his "excuse me?" did not disappoint. His chat kinda lead him into Sirfetch'd by telling him to continue to attack that Sudowoodo, but didn't spoil it for him.

Game Freak: We're gonna make it more reasonable to evolve some older Pokemon, like Charjabug and Eevee (into Glaceon and Leafeon). Also Game Freak: We made a new Pokemon that evolves when you spin, one that evolves if you get three critical hits in the same battle, and one that evolves if you get a specific amount of damage done to it and then walk underneath a specific rock arch in the Wild Area. Also, Inkay still evolves by holding the console upside down, and you therefore can't evolve it with the Switch docked.

Thing is, I tried letting Yamask take all that damage and then taking it to the Wild Area, and it didn't work. It actually has to take the damage within the vicinity of the rock you have to go under to make it evolve

I had to use multiple dire hits against multiple trainers in order to get three crits in one battle with farfetch’d, this man gets all three with luck against one wild sudowoodo
The Cataking I went vs the Onyx at the start of the wild area and just spammed weak normal type moves until I got 2 crits then leaf blade for the last crit and kill
I was frustrated to the point of tears trying to get Sir Fetch’d. Even after I found out his evolution method, I just wasn’t criting, when everyone was saying it was super easy so long as he had his leek. Until I looked in my box and, lo and behold, found his leek hidden amidst other items 😓 turned out in a tired stupor during a 2am binge through story mode I thought it’d be funny to replace his leek with one of the ingredient leeks. My boy Sir Gareth was level 70 before I was able to evolve him 😂

I would never try to get every form lol. Like 10~ different swirls plus the 8~ different sweets which you can only get like one or two of per day, I’d go insane! At least there’s only one shiny, but it still changes based on the sweet.
Well, the XY method is to turn your 3ds upside down. So, luckily, the switch is a hybrid system where you can do just that and they did not have to change it. I think they could make programmed it so that turning the pro controller upside would also work. But it had to be just what I mentioned. Bit of an issue for me since I usually play on my TV ((% of the time.

And yeah it does if you don’t realize you’re using a Pokémon that evolves by being in a certain area, like Eevee by an icy or mossy rock, Charjabug and Magneton in someplace electrified. Or maxing out friendship on a Pokémon or friendliness for something like like Sylveon.

If it was me i would be like how am i to get this pkm to land 3 crits in a single battle, i would've been stumped.

I just used my Farfetch'd to solo sweep Hop's team while it was holding a leek.

A razor claw works just as well. (That's how I did it since I play Shield and was traded a leek-less Farfetch'd.)

I used focus energy and high crit chance move tm's to do it so I guaranteed crits basically
