Your review sold me. Traded in my old echo dot clock for this and couldn't be happier. With 2 dots to trade with discount it only cost me $34. The no camera is very welcomed as it is in my bedroom. Tweaking the sound with the EQ settings really makes a nice difference. I tried the clock's night mode but it's too dim so it's disabled as the automatic dimming suits me fine.
I had and enjoyed the original Echo Spot for a few years, until the display went faulty- numbers would “jitter”. After research it was a documented by many with the same issue, but Amazon would not accept any fault. It got so bad it ended up in the bin. I really want to get this but worries after 2 years will face the same issue.
Good review. I have echo dot in my bedroom, mainly for the alarm. I have just replaced my echo show, in living room with the echo spot. Reason being, the clock is not displayed constantly. Plus the ads on the screen, are annoying. Greetings from the UK. Thanks..
My 3rd Gen. echo dot still works find burbI saw this the other day on amazon and I'm thinking its time to upgrade maybe I'll wait for the price to drop and treat myself
I have the original Echo Spot, which I used as an alarm clock. I had to stop using it as at some point Amazon broke the "Snooze" function on the alarm. When I tapped or hit the snooze button it would just turn the alarm off and almost made me late for work a few times due to turning off the alarm when I wasn't awake enough to notice. I could get it to return occasionally by resetting but not being able to predict when the feature would fail made me give up on that. I tried the Echo Show 5 as a replacement, but found the sound quality lacking as compared to my original spot. Eventually I ended up moving to a Lenovo Smart Clock, then Smart Clock 2, for my alarm clock. Except for the fact that I can't make the display characters big enough for me to read without glasses it's been much more reliable. The original Spot sits right behind it, as I do use it on rare occasions to look at or monitor my Ring Doorbell, as well as using it to listen to my Flash Briefing news and music and radio in general. I might have considered moving to the new Spot, but since I can't use it with the Ring I think I need to take a pass.
😢 The ultrasound motion detection feature works once in a blue moon. I have placed for a replacement order, but am skeptical whether this feature is faulty to begin with or it's just my piece that's defective

Is there an option to permanently display/ quickly access buttons like the one at 6:00?
I wanted to use it as an clock for my desk and the motion sensor to turn on the light when I am at the desk but the screen looks way too small

Not having the Ring doorbell display function makes it a dealbreaker for me. I would like to see and communicate with person at door if in bed.

I wouldn't use it as an alarm until they come with backup batteries. If the power goes out when you need to wake up, you're screwed.

Today the Echo Spot and the Echo Show 5 (also a great alarm clock) are both $79.99 CAD, so I can’t see any reason to choose this one over the Show.
