    Ana is a favourite. Genuine, enthusiastic... She still maintains the joy and wonder, and seems such a happy and humble soul.
    I enjoyed ruminating on your exchanges regarding revisiting pieces after many years.
    The notes don't change, yet in the meantime we do so much that the return is a new experience.

    The first time I saw Anna was at a World Champion Guitar Contest. This was a long time ago when you didn't see many female guitarists and you really didn't hear many that were outstanding players.She announced that she was going to play Asturias and I immediately remembered Segovia commenting that it was one of the must difficult to play. I didn't expect too much,but Anna was spectacular! I had never heard anything like it and I've been a fan ever since. I deeply regret that a truly great artist like Anna doesn't receive the recognition and the financial return they deserve. I recently saw her giving a concert at a cathedral in San Francisco and there were few people in the audience. It broke my heart.

    La Cathedral: Julian Bream never played in public (so far I know) or on a record/CD the music of Barrios. Propably she heard it played by John Williams.

      I sometimes think bream and Williams had so much respect for each other that they were careful not to step on each others feet. Bream played very little Barrios and I never heard him play Cavatina and wish he would have played it as I feel it was more suited to Bream than Williams. Williams never messed with the lute and I can not recal Williams playing many of the piece Bream was often well known for.

      yes, bream commissioned masses of new music from some amazing composers, like britten, villa lobos, rodney-bennett. bream never played barrios, it was john williams who brought him to wider popularity, with his great paraguayan album.

      No "h" in "La Catedral"... As a spaniard, I had to point that out. 🙂

    Why do I love when she smiles? Why do I love when she laughs? Why do I love every single move she makes and every single word she says? Most importantly: why am I "publicly" asking such silly questions to myself at 4:28AM (Spain) if I know the common answer to all these questions perfectly well?

    Scales are just finger exercises .

    • @ruelguitar2k
      @ruelguitar2k 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's right, but it's not just an exercise, it's also for Speed. Practicing scales will help you play those Allegro and Presto pieces. Manuel Barrueco in his masterclass recommended to practice scales.
