So much better before. It's so cold looking now.

Oh boy. As someone who has traveled shorter distances with Hurtigruten several times a year for 25 + years, this video made me nostalgic and sad.

How horrible. After 3 tours, on Nordnorge, Kong Harald and Trollfjord (the fourth was cancelled because of Corona), I had planned to go some more times as being retired now. I am shocked to see this and will never go back on one of those refurbished ships. I am really sad. The ships where so beautiful with the cosy blue colours, lots of fine wood, paintings, many beautiful lamps. Why have they done that?

we've travelled on the Richard With in januari 2015, it had indeed a homely feel. why destroy it?
waitingrooms in some hospitals look better then this! where have all those beautiful paintings gone?

Yes, it is absolutely a matter of taste if you’re fine with the new design or not….

They have taken away the homely feel. Too clinical for my taste

The new design is bland and colorless; it looks cheap and uncomfortable. The decor does nothing to relate to the gorgeous west coast of Norway, which is blue, grey, and green, mysterious and enchanting. This could be a hotel lounge anywhere. Yellow plastic and blond wood look ridiculous here. I loved my 12-day trip on this vessel a few years ago. The 2019 movie, "The Sunlit Night", is set on Lofoten Island, worth watching for the scenery.

I was looking at the itinerary and it shows SEVERAL ports. Do you stop at all of those or just sail by?

@@jenniferappleton4944 You have to consider the history of Hurtigruten here, it's not just for cruise goers to sit there and explore a town or city for a full day, it's also for people like me that live in Norway, and want to go from one city to another, especially if i bring a car. It started as a coastal route for goods and people going up and down the coast of Norway 150 years ago, and that's what it's still doing!
While it's true that they have taken the role of a cruise ship more and more; they have a route, and they can't just deviate from that because some tourist wanted to spend 4 hours in Flåm.

They should "hang" the one who decided to modernise all the interiors of the majority (almost all) of the ships. The result is absolutely hopeless. The atmosphere was very warm before the alterations. After that you find yourself in a canteen. After maybe 7 full Hurtigrutentrips "old style" no more now. They simply ruined ships like Polarlys , Kong Harald and Richard With. I wonder if the extreme big painting (wall to wall) on the Richard With was left or that this was also removed. Always modern, more modern, extreme modern, over the top modern etc. An enormous waste of money (they could almost buy a ship for all the conversions of 6-9 vessels) and destroying interiors that were warm and cosy. Its now one big IKEA-fabric. Ppppffff. You can ( apart from the oldtimers Nordstjernen (Spitsbergen-run) and Lofoten (soon te be withdrawn) in fact only choose for the smaller and older 1983-built VESTERALEN, maybe she more or less escaped the refurbishment-disaster.
