This is why you always bring a shovel! Dig out rocks and gravel from the bank on the right, fill the rut behind the wheel, then tracks on top to build a ramp. Pops you up and gives you some clearance on the way back out! Great ep!
really gud to c there was no rip shit tear bust in the recovery. patients is a virtue which adds up to no damage on the vehicle. gud to c ur dad enjoying the 4x4ing.

Yeah saw that once I was watching back the footage and agree, I think it would of broke anyway though, it had only been loading up a couple of seconds when it snapped, I've got the same rope and had it on similar angles and under big loads with the car not moving
Oh sweet that’s will make so many of your followers happy and stop the questions 😂🤣 I tell you wat you miss one when I don’t have it. My compressor is out at the moment under warranty and the last trip I did there where a couple of time I wish I could just flick that switch
Great episode - lucky you were walking distance from home otherwise you might have been cactus! You are lucky to live in such a beautiful area, I can see why it inspired you to take up 4wd'ing.
most of the roads are closed in this area because of the floods. Entire sections of the road washed away down to the bedrock. I've ditched the 4WD and started hiking a lot more. Enjoy it more too.
Buy a FID for $40 and fix your winch rope by join both ends. It takes 10 minutes and you are good to go. Practice using the FID at home and be ready for use on the trail. Great vid.
Gday Tyler, bugger eh. Luckily only a 30min walk home! We did the 30 river crossing track over Easter. Creek level was high, up to 800mm in depth on some crossings. Awesome trip incl Collumbatti and Mungay Mt. We have found that we loved E4 doing the river crossings with so many boulders in the Creek. Looks like not many people do the full length of the track. Thanks.
Great father and son team just like my son and I now just got to go home now and try and hide it from the mother and say that damage has always been there.
Your local area looks awesome mate. This goes to show how valuable 2 sets of traction boards are and why out should go out in pairs. I need to get a winch on my car as every time I go out alone I'm always nervous on which track or obstacle I take
Mate, I was the same, purchased an Ironman 9500 after seeing it work reliably with Tyler. Only used it once so far but for me it’s more a psychological thing, being confident in taking the tracks/ bog holes you weren’t before.
@@FJUH Yeah it's on my wish list atm due to lack of money. I still need to get bull bar or maybe get a custom made winch cradle and cut the centre out of my bumper.
Good to see you out enjoying some time with your Dad. Especially liked the ending of the video ? High up in the mountain range enjoying life for what it is. Great work on the editing too. Very good to watch.
Fun video buddy, that view blew me away 🔝🏕 pays to b safety conscious around winches, lov my I drive throttle controller also, like a new 4wd, certainly a lot of flood damage 😢😢😢
Another great video mate. I've got the throttle controller on my LTZ and I love it. it feels like a real weapon in U-9, but I have found myself leaving it in auto. Makes it a much more pleasurable vehicle to drive in your day to day traveling. Did that adventure destroy those max trax's ? some horrible cracking noises coming out of them.lol
Great episode as always. I've had the iDrive on my 2013 Triton for a few years now. This model really has a lot of throttle lag, so it helps a lot. I love it around town but I always turn it off for 4wding. I find that even the E modes are too responsive and risky for certain situations. Also, where are the bloopers? Hahah
Yeah no bloopers this video haha. I find the e modes makes the throttle a heap less responsive on the nav but I guess they behave differently on different 4wds . Around town I normally leave it on automatic
@@TylerThompson90 I guess the getting stuck and walking home was the blooper hahaha. Great video though mate. Yeah I'll have to give it another go on the E mode next time
I'm surprised that the RAE didn't pull an old Baily Bridge out of storage or place one of their LoC bridges. That throttle sprint piece does not provide more power - it adjusts throttle response. I'd be interested in a comparison with your Dad's muX and a DMax - I'm leaning towards the D for carrying capacity. Nice piece, thanks.
That water looks great... but as an outsider, if I ever travel to Australia I don't think I could ever get into any open water... Crocs got me spooked from the other side of the planet lol
Thanks mate. Yep we did a video on this a while back, just means you can disengage the cv from rotating all the time, so if you break it disengage it and drive home. Slightly less fuel usage, wear and tear etc as your axles aren't turning all the time until you engage manual hubs
Love seeing our local area, don’t think I’ll go there solo need a copilot, however would like to give the new Dmax a real test, keep up the great vids mate 👍😎
You know those loops you connected your winch to the MU-X? Not recovery points! and I've seen the damage they cause when they let go. (They are for tying a car down to a trailer, and not for snatching or winching to or from)
Yeah I find with winching like that when their isn't massive loads its fine, a winch is a slow pull, compared to say a big snatch/jerk on them. But yeah he does need to get rated recovery points which I have told him
This is what i call mission creep 4wding. You go out with no intention of even locking hubs, then your slowly slowly slowly getting into harder situations.
I sometimes go for a 10 minutes quick beach drive with no intention of even airing down, cause I won’t go “that far”... then I get off the beach 4 hours later, 10 psi in the tyres, and sand all over my face 😅
This is why you always bring a shovel! Dig out rocks and gravel from the bank on the right, fill the rut behind the wheel, then tracks on top to build a ramp. Pops you up and gives you some clearance on the way back out!

Awesome video, thanks! Looks like the angle of the winch rope was wrong as it was pulling against the rut and on the edge of the fairlead. Unlucky.

Does the MUX have lockers?
Not in this video, a locker is getting installed this week
