    All these different neighborhoods attract specific type of demographics. A good way to get a feel of the neighborhood is to go into the grocery store and see if that’s the type of place you want to live. Commute to Seattle can be a quite horrendous for most of these cities. For Auburn and Kent, you want to avoid living near the downtown area. There’s not really much to do in Auburn downtown. Federal Way does have a nice downtown or shopping area. Auburn and Federal Way have different dynamics depending on where you live. Kent and Federal Way have good neighborhood park options. Most of the cities are fairly safe with the exception of Tacoma.

      Thanks for the comment! That is a good idea to visit the grocery store in the neighborhood. I recommend my clients to do that while they are exploring areas.

      As a former Seattleite that moved out of WA., seeking edu/Voc/work, back in the early 90s, ‘commuting’ > any reason from Auburn, was insanity.
      It was a non issue.
      Gawd bless the mileage of your import or electric car! 😂

      I live near downtown Kent and have never had an issue living here as a single woman. I do my thing, I have my friends, and I keep to myself. No problems whatsoever and I was able to get a great deal on my condo when I bought it in early 2021: 2BR/1BA for less than $200k. I’m able to make the improvements I want to make on my own schedule and still live comfortably.
      Just because you can’t handle a bit of diversity doesn’t mean that downtown Kent isn’t habitable.

      @@Trix897; Good time to score that condo,
      At that price, as ‘21 was the height of the Covid problem & people were bugging out of cities.

    I live near Gig Harbor. I like Tacoma. I work up in Bellevue and it's not a bad commute over to the Tacoma Dome Free parking to take the sounder or regular bus up to Bellevue.
    Coming back to Tacoma I get some dinner and shopping done. Tacoma gets a bad rap. It's fine

    • @LivinginSeattleWashington
      @LivinginSeattleWashington  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gig Harbor is beautiful and Tacoma has some cool spots. I agree, it gets a bad reputation but it’s not all bad. That’s quite a commute for you!

    • @raineyjayy
      @raineyjayy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LivinginSeattleWashington It is, but luckily only a small part is driving. My job is very laptop friendly - so doing some work while on the bus or train is fine with me :)
      But still it does lead to getting home a little late on days I go in.
      But I gotta say, for the housing prices, the community and a bit of a commute while staying close enough to Seattle and being able to dodge traffic with public transit - I think folks should give Gig Harbor a hard look :)

    Hi Tova, I was born and raised here. I'm curious, where do carpenters live? Based on my income I can afford a 450k house. I guess I should move huh?

    • @LivinginSeattleWashington
      @LivinginSeattleWashington  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, $450k can be tough, the further out of Seattle, the more you'll get for your money. It just depends on how far your willing to commute. Feel free to reach out if you want to discuss further: seattle.nowgroup@gmail.com, 206-274-7851.

    You missed Mountlake Terrace, especially how close it is to Seattle compared to a lot of towns you mentioned - it's easily the best/cheapest burb.

      Yes, Mountlake Terrace is a great spot! It has gotten more popular and unfortunately less affordable over the past couple of years though.

    I'm not a big fan of Tacoma, but what the heck? The Tacoma pulp mill closed DECADES ago, and it hasn't smelled bad since! Do you REALLY live here in this region? And if so, for how long??? As for Bonney Lake (NOT Bonnie!!), between Highway 410, 167, and I-5, the commute into the greater Seattle area is nowhere NEAR as bad as you portray.

    • @LivinginSeattleWashington
      @LivinginSeattleWashington  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Umm, the Tacoma paper mill closed the end of September 2023. This video was posted June 2023, so the mill was very much open at the time I shot this video. I have personally experienced "the aroma" many times. www.seattletimes.com/business/century-old-paper-mill-once-famous-for-wafting-tacoma-aroma-to-close/

    Affordable? In Seattle? You must either be joking or playing a cruel hoax on the viewers.......LOL.......Nothing in the Seattle area can even be considered "affordable"...............Don't even think about moving here to buy a house if you don't have at least 1.5 million to spend.

    • @LivinginSeattleWashington
