Those particular type shifters were a pain in the butt too though lol, in his defense. I always preferred the “Winters Racing” or Cheetah shifters. They also made them in “Reverse Manual” as well. Fantastic shifters!
That Camaro could do with an outside clean up and a new timing belt (I think), apart from that it sounds mean AF. As someone born in 2001 I'm sorta envious of the old times. Nothing against these modern times but there is some of appeal to this older stuff-cars, clothing, furniture etc were so gorgeous. It must've been pretty awesome in the 70s with these cars.

The shifter may be broken it appeared as if he did not pull the trigger release mechanism. Or cable needs adjust/repaired/Loctite etc. where connected to transmission, maybe transmission fluid or leak or valve body if further mechanical.
