As a grown up I can’t get through it without welling up. My daughter looks at me with confusion every time, wondering why every song has this effect on me. I reply, ‘I hope you have a movie when you grow up that evokes the same reaction.’

And it might be the same one by that point 🥰 my dad was born the year Mary Poppins came out, and he and his brother loved it, and my brother and cousins and I have all seen it countless times too; it's part of our family lexicon. As a kid I liked all the bright colors and music and magic of it, and I still love all that but it touches me in so many more ways now as an adult. It's one of the most special movies in all of cinema.

When Karen Dotrice breaks down in tears talking about Walt, it's very touching. It's obvious that he was a likable man, in spite of all the negative press he's got in recent years.

Thank you, yes that was so raw I wondered if this was the first time in decades Karen's been with others who knew and loved her Uncle Walt, I mean she didn't even mention any adults she looked forward to going home to, only her friends, siblings and pets, and sadly to an outsider looking in Walt Disney was just someone she briefly worked with decades ago. What a team! Don't remember life without them but knew nothing about them off-screen 😢

I can’t speak for everyone, but I truly didn’t understand Mr. Banks until I became an adult myself. When I reached my mid-20s, I finally understood why he acted the way he did and was able to sympathize with him more. That’s the magic of Disney. You can enjoy these movies as kids and truly understand them as adults.

I’m actually glad Julie Andrews wasn’t brought on to reprise her role as Eliza Doolittle in the film adaptation of My Fair Lady if it allowed her to be cast as Mary Poppins. I don’t think anyone could’ve played the original Mary Poppins as well as Julie did.

What an act of love and gift to the world is this beautifully crafted documentary! It honors so many gifted creatives who obviously put their heart and soul into making this amazing movie about a simplier, more inocent time, thus cementing a treasured memory in all of our hearts (as my tears here testify). I look forward to sharing this wonderful gem of genuine heart-warmimg entertainment with all of my grandkids, thus passing on the gift of Mary Poppins to yet another generation. Thank you, Walt, and to all those who have blessed us with such wonderful memories. I sure wish they made more like these...

Mary Poppins was my childhood in the 80s! Big thx to my parents for the cable that was included Disney Channel & Walt Disney for making this happened. Julie Andrews & Dick Van Dyke omg they were just magical! Also I felt especially with my younger brother connected to the children when we needed the attention. Our childhood were rocky but hugely blessed by our parents & our older sisters.

I enjoyed Mary Poppins as a little girl. While watching the awards ceremony clips, Julie Andrews was wearing a gray/silver stole and I recall having dressup clothes that included a stole just like it.
I also thought that Julie Andrews and Dick van Dyke were "married" to each other. (I thought the same later about Mary Tyler Moore and Dick van Dyke). Funny thoughts you have as a child. THANK YOU to everyone who worked in front of and behind the camera to make this film possible. And thanks to the families who sacrificed time with the cast and crew so WE could be entertained.
