  • Over the past year, we completely rebuilt our 1988 Toyota Dolphin RV. The more we fixed things, the more we realized how much of the structural wood was rotten. We decided to do a complete gut. Such a huge project! We ended up rebuilding the entire roof, as well as the passenger rear wall and the back wall. We rebuilt everything in the interior. The only original things that remain are the oven/stove, the range hood, and the reading lights above the bed. The RV is officially done and we are doing some traveling in it now!
Detailed videos on each project we did can be found on my channel!

yall absolutely killed it, that thing is going to last another 30 years and is most likely worth $30k with all the upgrades, maybe worth 50k in another 10 years. Cali be crazy for that 22re. I hope yall have years upon years of amazing adventures.
I ve been running my dolph up and down the west coast for the past 3 years. Not sure which way you guys are headed but I have many suggestions for spots to check out. Just a few : the 395 going north out of LA is loaded with cherry camp like Trona Pinacles, Alabama Hills, Hot springs outsiide of mammoth ( green church ) ...essentially sage as far as eye can see butted into the Sierras. If interested in SF, East Beach is amazing spot you can park your rig during the day..at night time you can stay across from Safeway in allowed marina parking spot. There is cool little pullout on hwy 1 just a few miles north of Point Reyes. Santa Cruz on Deleware St near Natural Bridges Park. I could go on and on. I really like having a bike to explore new areas wheth·er it be a city or the blm. I-overlander and caltopo with 'public land' overlay are good guides to potential spots. Happy Trails

      Thank you so much!!
Wow you do have lots of neat suggestions! We will have to check them out! I know exactly what hot springs you are talking about in Mammoth and we love them! We have driven by Alabama Hills many times on our way to Mammoth and someday we would love to explore that area. Thank you for all of the tips! Do you know of any places near San Diego?

@@KikisAdventures nope. For whatever reason, in my migration patterns I never do down to San Diego, I usually go Joshua Tree then AZ after LA. AZ super easy camping compared to Cali. I can suggest a good spot in LA (Echo park area or Venice ) if you don't mind city camping

Dang that’s awesome! I remember watching your guys’ videos when it was gutted. I have an 89 Toyota dolphin that I’m still working on, I think it’s been about 2 years but that makes sense because it’s just me haha

Nice rebuild, it's beautiful. but as far as to the heater 1/2--3/4 gallon is a lot on low setting, mine will burn like 1 quart

Do you know about starting and ending any Diesel heater burn with a few moments spent on “HIGH” in order to clean the carbon build up off the internals. Also, I really like all that you have done in this remodel. It is sooooo open and airy in there. Nice job removing the ridiculous space-eating bathroom that seems to come in these Toyota motorhomes.

I am looking at one for $7500, it’s an 89 six cylinder. I don’t know anything about RVs but it looks pretty nice. The engine has been partially rebuilt in the interior. I’m thinking they’re talking about the soft part of the interior and maybe the linoleum. But everything else in it looks nice

Do you have any plans for window shades/blinds/insulation? Nice looking redo and excellent solar set-up. I wish you had left the enclosure for the toilet, but if you don't entertain much you can make-do.

For the amount you have in the fridge you could of purchased a new 2 way/3 way fridge for about that price! Didn’t it come with a bath room?

The toilet enclosure will be missed the most. Tiny mini-motorhome showers rarely get used, except for doing handfuls of laundry.

@@KikisAdventures I lived in a vintage tailer for one year. the best thing is a AC heat ,flushing toile, shower and shore power for JUST IN CASE .Taking these wonderful vintage essentials out is so sad as you altered the historic foot print and repalaced it with a handmade clumsy collection of plywood painted boxes . You have electronic connections but now no way to live comfortably meeting basic human needs such as private bath, AC, heat VENTS for humidity . You clearly did all this without knowing what it is like to live in a small camper. I have lived the lifestyle so i have learned . I love vintage campers especially these old Toyotas and it breaks my heart to see what you 2 did to those vintage RV . someday i hope when you see you have made some serious errors and sell it the new buyer can restore it back to the way it was they can find the parts. No way will you get 30 k or 50 k for the primitive rv it now worth less then what you paid for it .

A small bathroom enclosure could have been retained for a little civilized comfort, especially if there are ever any guests or entertaining.
