Sadly putting him on a sled could have been a bad idea. I go fairly close to two you tube folks. I wave at the property as I drive past. One place now has signs that folks are not to “drop in”. (Saw it on their video). Looks like you can’t see it till nearly in yard. As you get more popular. Odds are you will have issues. Might I suggest you consult with your insurance agent. Consider increasing liability coverage...
@@Dan.Marceau you’ve gotta understand that people need their privacy. I mean would you like it if random people came knocking on your door to see your trucks, day or night?
To be fair- I'm tiny on TH-cam. If I was a TH-camr that was a lot bigger/more fanbase, it could get pretty annoying and potentially dangerous with people showing up all the time at night.
Glad to see Dads ok . I understand the aw man feeling he had . Looking forward to you going over the farm and the plans and financials on what it takes to set up .
That looks like a bunch of fun. I'm glad your Dad is ok. Enjoy your winter and looking forward to your next season coming up. Stay safe and warm. Cheers
I’m really interested to see the new farm and hear about the finance and economics of your operation. I’ve always dreamed of farming but never felt it could be a reality. Can’t wait to see and hear how you went about it. Very cool
Holy crap that’s more than a ditch that’s a drainage sewer I thought you were just talking about a road ditch that was kinda keep but that thing is massive but lots of respect for not getting hurt in the process
good thing your dad is ok. I wreck my sled 2 weeks ago and it was totaled. it wouldn't even start back up. i tore 2 ligaments in my shoulder. glad your dad is good. ps my sled was a 2006 polaris fusion 900
Hey Grant, you are right the humming and bubbling in the back of your skid steer is the DEF pump. To my understanding the pump pulls all the DEF fluid out of lines back into the tank to prevent damage to the lines and pump in freezing temps, it freezes at 12F. Also congrats on the Deere in the last video that’s a real nice looking tractor!
@@granthilbert5632 No problem! Yes that is true, I believe the first hour of run time it will not use any def to allow the system to thaw the fluid in the tank before it kicks in.
@@granthilbert5632 Doing heavier work such as mulching will keep it from going into regen as often. Pushing snow for example is light duty work for a machine that size, might not make it work that hard so it will regen more especially with the cooler temps. Also a lot of idle time other than just letting it warm will cause more frequent regen’s. The more it regens the more DEF fluid it will go through.
Just letting you know for the part of the tunnel that’s bent you can buy just that one part and take the old one off where those rivets are holding it together just around the end of the seat and put the new one on
that sound from the skidsteer is the DEF like you said. It pumps out the DEF from the hoses so it doesn't break when it freezes. (DEF is like 70% water so it expands a lot when frozen.) Keep up the great videos dude!
@@granthilbert5632 yep same, hoping you have a great start to your season and dream soon man, I’m 15 and I farm with my family and I have such a blast, great so see you starting something so you’ve always talked about in last years
For the shed. Try to go a bit bigger, but taller then you think. Do you have any grain storage? I see a lot of grain bins. For decent prices. Under @24’ it is possible to move the roof, top rings intact. (Saves a ton of work) for a short distance without $$$ equipment, professional help. I have done 3 21’ bins that way. 150 miles max. Lots of 5000 bu dryer bins lately. (I know too small) 3+ drying cycles.
Agree, as far as grain storage I think it wouldn't hurt. Most of my ground is really close to local elevator. For the first year was planning to just rent storage from elevator even though they are really high priced for rent. If I start buying more acres will have to put up some storage on some. Other things is- I mentioned this- but possibly in next 5-10 years may sell ground and farm in an area closer to home and a little more north of where I grew up. So trying to not to spend too much on infrastructure, but grain bins will always have value even if I see too.
Hi just a thought for your shed build. I’m in process of building a second shed on my farm in east coast of Scotland and I have put curved sheets on eves which allows for lower/larger gutters along side of shed which in turn requires a lot less cleaning out The curves have ripples on them which stops the water running of the edge and makes it go down the side into the gutter
@@BMMEC6000 yup I know i have been on TH-cam for about 5 years now so I kinda know everything lol. So yeah. I just called it that because there’s the auto play setting on what to play nezf
