I know exactly what you mean it’s a huge investment on your part and if it doesn’t perform at its price range that’s an issue. TH-cam revenue is seriously peanuts and I know the work that goes into these videos. I’ve been wanting to step it up and buy a really expensive rifle but i think the point of diminishing returns is seriously at the cz457. Not blowing smoke because that’s what i shoot but from what I see it’s the best bang for the buck. Until gun manufacturers are willing to send me rifle to try I think I’m just going to roll with the 457.
I was very leery about jumping into a higher end 22lr. I spent nearly 4 years trying to decide if I should buy one. I can 100% say it was worth it, the crazy thing is, you spend 3k+ on your rifle, you end up spending a lot more on ammo once you start shooting your new rifle, the rifles the cheapest part, I shot just shy of 10k rounds thru my Vudoo last year. Just getting out shooting every other week is like group therapy, grin. Good luck making a decision, I love my Cz's.
Josh, always enjoy your videos. New to the sport, April, and am only shooting ARA Factory with a Bergara B14R and a new CZ457. Just talked to Brian at Anschutz this morning, one very helpful nice guy, and ordered a mixed brick of R50. Looking forward to testing like you have done. You have been very helpful to a beginner. Thanks and take care. Matt in Texas
Hi, when I bought my rifle from Anshutz NA, I had them lot test in their tunnel. The groups were all over the place. A couple where ragged holes and others looked like they were from a shotgun. Getting lot tested ammo with the new rifle really effected my experience with the rifle and the vendor. I have bought bricks of Eley Match and Midas+ and at 100 yard all of them shot sub MOA. That barrel really likes being clean. Good luck with whatever you end up shooting. It’s really aggravating not shooting those sweet little groups.
Awesome video and good honest critique of an expensive rig that is nicely setup in all respects but isn't performing to expectation. Rather than the criticism from Toobers, they could be offering suggestions on how they got theirs shooting well. Gotta love the "experts". Your videos are always very well put together and your honesty is very refreshing. Don't let 'em knock you! Cyclops Joe (one funny bugger) talked about the knockers - wish you guys would collaborate or one of you do a video on what personal control one needs (breathing, rest technique, thumb over vs thumb to side etc... to allow some of us to become as good shots as you two. Keep'em coming - am loving them! Hi from NZ!
Used to order my RWS from North America Anshutz . Good company with solid lot stock. For some reason ( lived in Germany for long time ) I am little disappointed . Nothing wrong with the rifle . The price isn't too bad ether . just won't replace my CZ set up with this Annie . You have best ammo for it, this rifle is made for this ammo and still ..... To perform well this rifle wants to breath German air. Have no other explanation . Thanks for this video Boss .
Glad to see the Annie likes the R50 ammo. I am impressed it shoots darn good groups with some of those lots. You would expect horizontal movement with the wind, but the vertical impressed me, it wasn't too shabby, good shooting brother.
$20 per box is expensive in my opinion, but for match grade ammo it seems reasonable. Shot CCI target the other day and was first time with CCI. Was impressed. Also shot Eley and CCI shot as well in my 457.
I appreciate your honesty and I learn a lot by following you. I have a Bergara B14r and a Bergara BMR Carbon and I have subscribed and I’m watching all your videos. Absolutely love the content and your approach! Thanks.
I’ve had good luck with R50. I get lot test bricks with 10 different lots and one usually stands out as the clear leader. Awesome 20 shots group - I’d say that rifle likes that lot
A very good review and impressive performance from the Anschutz. I'm currently considering their 1710 DHB heavy barrel model. An Australian reviewer (Ozzie Reviews) rates this as the best bench rest .22 in the world.
Scope, bases and rings will make a difference… Anschutz 1808 MSR owner here (since brand new…. Yes, a 1998 gun) and it shoots one hole shot groups at. 50 yards with most decent ammo (wolf match extra is the best for my gun) so, thanks for sharing your experiences with THE almost accurate .22 rimfire rifle in my humble opinion
Thanks for another great video. 👍👍 Hater’s are going to hate. Your videos always seemed fair and to the point. You editing for time reduction is amazing, not over talking everything. 👍😍
I have that same rifle in the XLR chassis and a CZ457 in identical chassis. CZ is little less picky and the Anschutz does extremely well with R50 and SK Pistol Match !
I, too, own and shoot the same Anschutz rifle. It did take a lot of rounds for the barrel to settle in. Midas + shoots very well for me. Depending on the day, it's a draw between the Anschutz or Vudoo. Both fantastic rifles.
It’s interesting. My crew in Utah is stuck on SK and Lapua. I don’t see a lot of RWS R50 at matches. However, when I was down south in SC, I saw R50 all the time.
Love my Anschutz 22wmr. Nice review. It's hard when we post up so many full custom rifles in 22lr. But remember this is a factory [high end] rifle. Custom rifles just can't be beat. We are truly spoiled in 22lr.
Great shooting josh This maybe just down to my 1710 iv found the rws ammo takes longer to lead in but should be good to go. SK long-range match is definitely worth a look Hopefully lap long range will hit the UK soon could be very good
Well done, thank you. I know I don’t alway leave pos comments but I only do that when I see something glaringly obvious. Also, pls make sure if the barrel on the guns your using is original or custom. Most of us don’t use custom Lilja barrels to our Anschutz or CZ’s so it would be good to know the apple to apple comparisons .
Great clip Josh and very good 20 shot group but agree with you, would much prefer a rifle that wasn’t so fussy on quality ammo allowing more choices at different price ranges.
One of the guys at one of those shooting centers that you talk about said you need to shoot at least 750 to a 1000 bullets through your barrel before the rifle starts to group its best.
Hi Josh, very informative Video, I have a Anschuetz 54 which is the Single shot version of the 1710 with a 25" original match barrel. We tried several types of ammo. Mine shoots the best with R100 alternatively with RWS Match S which is basically the R100 not sorted. Group size of .2 Moa are repeatedly possible. However, I could produce similar groups with SK long range match. Distance 50m or 55 yrds. SK LR Match was tested with my Lab Radar 20 Shots with 1,93 SD. Not sure if you have tried RWS Match S yet, maybe worth trying. I myself a part of the Long Range Rimfire Club Germany. We are shooting 2 LR Speed events annually. Means 100m Speed on a target (25rds) and then 10 shots on 200m steel and 10 shots on 300m steel with a 5 minute time limit. Thanks again for your great content.
Hi Josh, You have a competitive rifle. Go to a match , pin on a number, step to the line , and believe you can win with it. This isn’t indoor bench rest. Know your dope and your wind call, and shot to win. Folks, I have placed very well in some high level matches because of Good training with a rifle/ammo combination that is consistent (not perfect). Great work my friend!!
Great content, Josh. Ive always felt you give things an honest shake. If everything was always honky dory and evety rifle shot .2s i would get very suspicious. My only suggestion for improving your content is somehow some way doing the reviews on an indoor range where the weather element is removed. This would give the rifle a more transparent shake by removing that one variable. That first cold-bore shot was HORRIBLE. and is probably a result of steel tension in the barrel rather than "the wind" as you said it. But overall great content! I love your stuff. Thanks! Moe on my wifes account.
You got some great groups there, I plan on a Wood & Steel Match Action Match Barrel Anschutz someday or a real nice Winchester 52. Just got a Anschutz KK-50 scope for my CZ 457 Jaguar today. Definitely excited to see the groups soon. Any scope past $300 for a rim fire rifle is just not good sense for me right now. I understand you get what you pay for. I want to dabble in 2-300yards with rimfire but at a price that is right for a Married father of 4 with a mortgage, car payment ect.. Having fun on a budget is more my quest currently. However I understand that good quality.22Lr is important. I shoot exclusively out of the wind at all times. Thankfully I have been given that luxury. Thanks to you in a past Pod cast or video I discovered a great place to buy quality from. CC/Competition Corner in Tennesee. I have bought some ELEY Pistol X brick & now the scope. I appreciate your work & knowledge. Keep up the great Videos please , and Thank You!!! P.S. I found some Norma Subsonic/Supressor in a brick a lil while ago. It groups .270”-.345” @ 50yards regularly. Its rated 1017fps. Also recently found some Federal Gold Medal Target @ $6 a box that groups about the same, best group with it was .213” @ 50 yards. So I’m finding reasonable solutions. Looking for ELEY primed Aguilla subsonic & Remington Subsonic 40gr Hollow points before I pull the trigger on a brick of ELEY Subsonic Hollow point & RWS R-50 & R-100 & Lapua Super Long range. The ELEY Team Brick my brother gave me 3yrs ago shoots very well also, I can’t beat the price on that stuff. Thanks again brother!!
My 1761 is a great shooter I would love to try some RWS R50 but have not been able to get up here in BC . However mine likes lapua centre and Eley match and tenex
great production keep it up, i have a weatherby 22 bolt action in .22, at one hundred yards im gettng 3/4 inch 5 shots groups with the very cheapest ammo cci blazer ammo.... i never tryied it at 50 or 25 yards but thats what its doing at 100 would you considder that bad medium or good accuracy from such a light weight sporter
Josh, Please give your comment: I’ve Anschütz 1808 eds. It’s for running target shooting (wild boar and 50 meter distance). Every time 1st shot is 35-37 mm to 1 0’clock. Same what ammo. Every time every day same. Without cleaning or with. Same what to do. I don’t how many hours is needed but 24 h is enough. Example when I go to pigeon hunting I should to shoot first ammo to the ground just before start of hunting. I think barrel is not cold hammered method and that’s why this 1st shot mystery. What you know of this …preference?
Recently purchased a 1710 Competition. I had ANA lot test it for me. This summer I have been trying to figure out if I am happy with it. While the jury is still out I have to say that it does not seem as accurate as I would like it to be. I would love to see you shoot the 1710 for score on an IBS or USBR benchrest target against one for your other rifles. Pick ammo lots that each rifle likes and shoot them under the same conditions. I don't think a few 5 shot groups are an accurate representation of accuracy. Shooting for score over the course of a few different targets seems a better way at least to me.
Thanks Josh, keep up the great work mate. Love your videos I've had an Anschutz 1710, it was a very accurate rifle but I made up a custom RimX and its on a completely different level
I only wish anschutz/rws UK would do test packs. For me iv always found the stuff in the 333/4 m/s or 1120fps has worked out best for me. What speed was your best lot running at be interesting to see if the faster lots are any better
I would have a very high expectation spending that kind of money. I never thought you gave is anything else besides your honest opinion/experience. Those mags are still junk. 😂 that rifle can definitely shoot. Expensive ammo though! Ill keep chasing air rifle accuracy!
great video as always! I still waiting for your video dedicated only for techniques you use, and what is important for you to be a good shooter and have good results like 0,5MOA for 50yrds.
It seems to me that every gun at the level of a 457 and higher shoots basically the same group size. I've owned multiple 457s, as have others in our shooting group. We also have a B14R, a V22 and a Cooper 57M Benchrest...they all shoot .35" or better at 50 yards, 1" or better at 100 yards and 1.75" or better at 150 yards.
Would you send a link to that stock? I really like it. This is more of a question, can anyone tell the difference in R50, R100, and Special Match? I've tested them all in my 1710 and with some lot testing went with the Special Match. I tried not to let price be a factor. I called Anschutz USA they made me a deal for buying the lot. These rifles are very finicky about ammo and I like to hear your opinion. I don't have access to the different brands so I want to know how it stacks up. If it's the greatest or crap I want to hear what you think.
I am not sure what comments you got on your last video, I didn’t read them, but did watch the video. For people who know Anschutz, I think many of us were surprised that the 1710 wasn’t what you expected. With that price point anyone should have expectations.
Im looking hard for one. I have very low expectations....but wanted to get a real video out on it for everyone, already seeing shill videos of it saying how great it is (shooting ipsc's at like 50 yards 🤣🤣🤣😶)
When I first began lot testing for my B14r I shot 10 5 shot groups of a particular lot# of ammo Then for me I realized once I found a lot# of ammo my rifle liked I would be better served shooting and actual ARA factory class 50 yard target to make my final ammo choice because that is what I would be shooting at in actual competition
Anshutz 1710 is HUNTING rifle with one stage trigger with unregulated 1,2 kg ( 3 lbs). Ansshutz made target rifles also - 150 grams for 64MPR, regulated,... and lot more other models. I think it is not quite correct to estimate rifle made for hunting with target rifle criteria. I have hunting 1416 D and target 64MPR. I love them all. But with target 64 MPR much easier to shoot same hole with SK ST + at 50 meters. TO shoot with 1416d ( 1,1kg trigger pull weight) I trained in dark room with Frog method. 1416 good for training for who goes to battle front as sniper because military rifles have same big trigger pull weight. I wish you good luck and THANK YOU for your info
First of all josh, That was really good shooting. I respect your opinion. And you have a right to your opinion, Most of the time I agree you are very objective.😊 You have a right to form your own opinion and conclusions. Love your channel keep up the good work. Hate the rifle don't hate the content maker.😂😂😂 L o l.
I understand it’s a 22 so it’s light but I just don’t believe the wind can affect it that much in only 50 yards. I’ve put hundreds of rounds through my .17 at 100 yards and even then a small bit of wind doesn’t have much effect..
Wind steering is a factor of BC rather than weight. The 17hmr is a smaller diameter and longer so has a higher bc making it less wind steerable. 22lr is a fairly low bc round so it doesnt stand up well to wind
We shot 10 shot groups in competition. Not only for grouping, but also scoring. Imagine shooting a 10 shot grouping into a single target and scored also. Double counting is tough.
I’ve never seen you bash anything. You give an honest opinion on equipment with likes and dislikes as I want you to do. Keep up the great work.
Thanks brother

I love that Anschutz will send you different lots to test.
Yes sir they will. I just ordered a brick of different lots.

I’ve greatly enjoyed your channel. Plain talkin’ from a dude who simply enjoys shooting. Good stuff.

You should try GSI's 100 yard indoor range. No wind. Anschutz magazines have always been questionable. I used modified Savage mags in my MPR.

It is but i got it 2nd hand so i was starting from scratch
I would have a very high expectation spending that kind of money. I never thought you gave is anything else besides your honest opinion/experience. Those mags are still junk. 😂 that rifle can definitely shoot. Expensive ammo though! Ill keep chasing air rifle accuracy!
Thanks brother, its usually the loud minority haha.
I appreciate ya watching and commenting
great video as always! I still waiting for your video dedicated only for techniques you use, and what is important for you to be a good shooter and have good results like 0,5MOA for 50yrds.
For paper shooting at 50 I dont really have any magical advice. Its 75% ammo and rifle, 20% conditions, and 5% shooter
The beard is working for you Opie.
Haha thanks
It seems to me that every gun at the level of a 457 and higher shoots basically the same group size. I've owned multiple 457s, as have others in our shooting group. We also have a B14R, a V22 and a Cooper 57M Benchrest...they all shoot .35" or better at 50 yards, 1" or better at 100 yards and 1.75" or better at 150 yards.
Yeah the diminishing returns start at the cz 457 price range for sure
Centerfire 3 shot groups, Rimfire 5
Love your videos !
Thanks brother
Another great video. I was wondering if you are at all interested in the new Springfield 2020 rimfire target? What are your thoughts?
Im looking hard for one. I have very low expectations....but wanted to get a real video out on it for everyone, already seeing shill videos of it saying how great it is (shooting ipsc's at like 50 yards 🤣🤣🤣😶)
When I first began lot testing for my B14r I shot 10 5 shot groups of a particular lot# of ammo
Then for me I realized once I found a lot# of ammo my rifle liked I would be better served shooting and actual ARA factory class 50 yard target to make my final ammo choice because that is what I would be shooting at in actual competition
Yeah sounds like a good plan. For what I shoot the consistency of groups and sd and es are the biggest factors
Are you still selling merch? My wife wants a sweatshirt.
I will be in about a month
GR8 VIDEO NO MORE PELLET GUNS PLEASE🤣🤣🤣
Шасси АМД
ЖЕЛЕЗО 1710
сколько же стоит такой комплекс❓
Nice shooting 🔫 👌
First of all josh, That was really good shooting. I respect your opinion. And you have a right to your opinion, Most of the time I agree you are very objective.😊 You have a right to form your own opinion and conclusions. Love your channel keep up the good work. Hate the rifle don't hate the content maker.😂😂😂 L o l.
Lol appreciate it
I understand it’s a 22 so it’s light but I just don’t believe the wind can affect it that much in only 50 yards.
Thank you for proving that Annie's are better than Vudoo's and Rim-X's 👍
I dont know about all that 😁😁
457 or the anschutz? I apologize if this question has already been asked.
Looks like turner would help that gun a lot.
I havent had great long term luck with the tuners
Super nice
Would you please tell what rear bag do you use, also if you could recommend any other rear bags. Thanks
Gamechanger pint size is what I run
Thanks, I am fixing to buy one.
Добрый день 🤝 Где можно купить такое шасси на 1710. Делают такое на 1541 очень интересно спасибо 🤝
You can get it direct from MDT inletted for the 1710
Why do you shoot with a bipod ? Benchrest shooters do not use a bipod . Do you agree there might be a reason for this ?
Bipods are very stable. Benchrest shooters shoot off of 1k 1 piece rests. They are not very practical for anything but benchrest
Time to build an indoor range!
Yeah lol
Just noticed the grip and thumb rest on that acc chassis’s, who’s is that?
Adjustable bag rider
That is a factory barrel right
@@timothytrexler1896 yes factory barrel
I’ll buy it
I use ELEY BLACK in my 17 they win for me
German rifle German ammo. 👍👍
Where is the lot number on the box?
Honestly i still have to search for it. Its on a random side
R50 is in front side of the box when looking down at it.
Sorry for the dumb question but where do I get that target?
Midway
I buy them from killough shooting but i believe a lot of places carry them online
