Caesar was a great leader but he never faced organised countries nor coalitions. Also Caesar was mostly the agressor, he launched offensive conquest. Napoleon Faced mostly coalitions of european powers which declared war to France. It mostly finished in conquest too, but it was defensive ones. When you declare war to a country and you loose despite having a true superiority in men and guns, then it's normal that the attacked winner took some of your territory.
