It's all their real hair, hide's (lead guitar, blonde spiked hair with the red streak here) braids are extensions, but the part that's up is real, he didn't cut his hair from about 1985 to 1995, by the 1993 X Japan Returns Era his hair was so long is was past his knees, we know it's real because there are shots of him with his hair down and you can see his black roots. Yoshiki's (drums/piano) hair is also definitely 100% real because he also didn't cut it for about ten years, and it was so long when he hurt his neck that he had to cut it because it was actually a problem when it was wet because it was so heavy. During that era Toshi (vocals) would also have his hair up like this for the first half of the set and then comb it down for the second half. Also, this song is about suicide, as upbeat as it sounds.
they didn't show the crowd because this was one of their "video gigs". They became so huge that they were literally unable to go to every place they were invited to, so they had video gigs, where the pre-recorded live concert was shown to people in the concert rooms. It's crazy. It's like those hologram shows nowadays, just with video. This cut is from such a video gig. It was also cut together from two different lives they did, if you notice, their clothes change in some of the cuts :D
Nice to see you coming back to X Japan! This is one of my favourite lives, it was filmed in 1990 and had had Taiji still on bass (he was replaced with Heath shortly after due to personal issues between him and Yoshiki). The song is actually pretty dark. Yoshiki's father commited suicide when he was 10 years old and a lot of X's songs have suicide as a theme. So this song is more like...dying on the Weekend, not living for the weekend^^' (Someone pointed out that there is an ancient Indian belief that says the weekend is the perfect time to commit suicide so the soul can be judged and be reborn by sunday evening. I am not sure about this though. I couldn't find anything about this belief in a quick search but then again oral history can not always be found within 5 minutes of online research and it would fit this song perfectly!)
Try this song, which (among others) heavily influenced BabyMetal :: “We are ...”, the title (Kurenai means crimson, similar to BM’s Akatsuki, Crimson Moon, and each title is screamed at the beginning of the song so people know how to pronounce the unusual word), the speed, the drama, the twin guitar solo. Even the neckbrace is obv reverence to songwriter/pianist/drummer Yoshiki... th-cam.com/video/4-zXzhfP2YM/w-d-xo.html
Yoshiki's father committed suicide when he was little, so quite a lot of x-Japan songs are about suicide and/or its fallout. I have no idea how it's connected to the weekend though!
yes!! if you understand the lyrics it's actually very explicit though. i read somewhere that this song is based on an indian belief that killing yourself during the weekend (fri sat sun), youll be able to reincarnate! and the lyrics describes the high of being lost in your own despair with vivid lyrics of "blood running down your wrist" or "staring at the mirror with trembling body, the transparent blood that started tricking down to your pale heart"
I really LOL when I saw this guys but they keep my mouth open while the song continues to an incredible guitars and battery rithm. They were really awesome ana I really would like bands like this to were more known in America and Europe. Nothing to envy to great known bands like Scorpions Metallica or Guns n Roses. I herad some other good songs from this band I recomend you Rusty Nail, Kurenai, Silent Jelousy, Jade and a couple of ballads songs like Forever Love, Tears and Say Anithing.
u shud react to the 1997 version of kurenai performed live. it was after they stopped all their makeup and stuff. Kurenai- 1997 (Last Live) or along those lines
its a crime to not check out art of life (live!) by x-japan also glam rock hit japan when it had died in the rest of the world, early 90's in japan was all hair and make-up which became known as visual kei
"Just let it rock n roll !!"🤘🤘🤘
weekend is probably my fave X song ever. :)

That is so crazy, yet amazing at the same time. I cannot go more than 3 weeks without cutting all mine off lol.

It’s live in 1990. The song came out in 1989. Yes, it IS their real hair, it’s still a mystery to humanity
That is crazy and amazing at the same time lol!!
I'd also recommend the band Mucc! Their song Ware, arubeki basho is absolutely amazing live and very, very emotional.
Ya, this was in 90, just as they became huge
Thank you. Love the old school rock look!!
Drams. Yoshiki(Leader)

LOL!!
If you wanna have the best guitar solo, you should listen to Sadistic Desire & Standing Sex.
u shud react to the 1997 version of kurenai performed live. it was after they stopped all their makeup and stuff. Kurenai- 1997 (Last Live) or along those lines
I will check that out. Thank you!
its a crime to not check out art of life (live!) by x-japan
also glam rock hit japan when it had died in the rest of the world, early 90's in japan was all hair and make-up which became known as visual kei
Thank you. I will listen to that!
You should react to the band Versailles! They're an awesome visual kei band! I'd recommend Ascendead Master live!
Thank you. I will check them out.
Oh yeah!! We're Versailles.
You should try "Aristocrat symphony "too.
I always confuse Versailles with Lareine's "Versailles no Bara" and I have to wonder whether people are serious. That song is a meme and a half.
It says 1990 live so.... u say it felt like late 80s early 90s im like..bc it’s in 1990😂
I thought that was the name of the song lol
