Simple answer: It’s paid access because it’s in alpha, it will become free once it gets out of its early stages. It’s currently not at its best potential because it’s in its early stages. Those who buy alpha will receive perks for when the game releases. Most of the funds made from the paid access and gamepasses goes back into the game. Paid access is needed for game developers that need robux to build a foundation upon. 👍

I don't wanna come off as overly mean, but comparing Tower World to any other obby game just really sets me off. I think paying 50 robux for a game like this is perfectly justified when looking at other Roblox obby games. Screen pop-ups, rushed obstacles, pay to win gamepasses, instakills, horrible stage design, skip stage buttons that cost more than purchasing Tower World in its entirety, you completely disregard how bad almost 90% of those other Roblox obby games are on Roblox and thus it comes off as fairly odd to me that you call this a "bad game". Finally finding an obby game with real passion and effort put into it (3 years of development), I think it's reasonable that it costs only 50 robux (about half as much as a chocolate bar). Not only does it support the developer, but it also actively helps the game's development. The game is going to be updated as development continues, like the recent addition of the sky tower. It only costs robux now because the creators most likely don't want to fully release the game to younger audiences that may not be able to enjoy the game as much without feedback from those willing to purchase the game (if you don't know already, the game is in early access). Also, I understand the game is not for everyone, and I'm sorry you had a terrible experience with it. However, I recommend looking at this game from an quality/ethics standpoint rather than your own personal subjective experience. Not everyone is going to have a good experience, sure, but does that make it a bad game? Some people like me have bought and played the game, and have genuinely enjoyed it! -- EDIT: Wanted to express that just because Tower World isn't as good as what some other free games have to offer doesn't mean that it should have to be free. Paid access is up to the developers, and it would be unrealistic and unfair to compare good games with paid access to better free games on the platform. Okay I get that just because it costs 50 cents it shouldn't be judged more harshly, but just because everything else is slop and this is better, doesn't mean its worth paid access. Theres also no reason for it not being free since that means alot more people will try it out and add input, if they need robux they could just add donations/gamepasses like literally any other game. There are definitely good obby games out there like detriment which I semi enjoyed thats completely free and still in development.
There are actual obby games on Roblox with better level design which don't try to monetize every aspect of gameplay and also have interesting gimmicks like the "obby but you're a __" games a while back.
Ngl, I feel like this is one of the rare videos that nobody agrees with Eclipse, and I gotta agree on them on this one. Note that i'm saying this from my PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF PLAYING THIS GAME First of all, this game took me about roughly the same amount of time as you to finish, an hour 30 minutes to maybe an hour 45, not that much time, but one thing though, is that throughout most of it, I completely enjoyed my time playing it. Now I know what you're saying, it's a paid game, so you're expecting a higher standard of quality. That's perfectly reasonable, however I believe it's also perfectly reasonable to say it does have a higher standard of quality than the AVERAGE OBBY GAME. Sure it's not a masterpiece like Deepwoken or something like that, but when comparing it to the average obby game which costs 0 to play, but is filled with stuff like "nuke everyone for 500 robux" and "Skip stage for 90 robux" buttons, for 90% of stages that are extremely low effort and soulless rainbow bricks. I personally think that this game is completely fine for it's relatively cheap price cost (reminder that most paid access games cost average between 200-500 robux) and an enjoyable time. Sure it has it's problem but it's in early access, some problems which didn't completely kill my experience (they can get annoying sometimes but it never really became a problem for me). I think it's a perfectly fine game.
The problem was that u can play just like this in other obby games, yes, maybe not most but there are other games that are the same if not better. And you can't just say that, " it does have a higher standard of quality than the AVERAGE OBBY GAME" because most of them suck. i know it’s been 4 months, but i find it really interesting how a bad first response from the devs caused all of eclipse’s audience to turn against the tower world devs, and then the second, better reponse didn’t really make a difference
6:34 I actually can't believe you are using this as an argument. This is CLEARLY by design. That's the entire point of tower games (like Tower of hell, Jukes tower of hell), when you fall - you might have to start from the beggining.
I think the point of paying 50 cents to play this game, is to not experience another obby, but to experience how said creators made the obby. Similar to how there are millions of bowls out there, some cost more than others but they all have the same functionality. But, the higher priced bowl is more fancy and most likely will last longer due to expensive materials.
tower world is like investing your money into a promising stock, chances are it's just gonna keep getting better and better as development continues, eventually to the point of them making it free

the game isn't going to have lots of gameplay if it's essentially an early access version, and the developers need the money to continue developing the game. as someone who plays many obbies, it's a well made and unique game that is definitely worth the $0.50.
The issue is that the gameplay isn't balanced well and the bosses are subpar (except for the baker one, it was actually fun surprisingly) The obby gimmicks are kinda just a intractable cutscene over something that makes the obby more difficult and technical Also the game has the gall to ask for donations, have developer products and gamepasses

@@XaeroKill No, an obby game shouldn't be 50 cents. You can pick any obby game from the front page and basically get the exact same gameplay minus the visuals. But even then, the barrier to entry isn't necessarily 50 cents, but just buying Robux in general, which not everyone on Roblox can or will do. Given, you know, it's either kids or people who don't see much of a reason to do that in general. Especially given the amount of games that have in-game character customization anyway. Basically, it's gatekeeping a game that has no reason to be gatekept to begin with. Not even saying this in the sense that "gatekeeping is bad" or anything, but just that it isn't benefitting anyone by doing it. Because you keep probably more than half the Roblox community out, while also not giving them a unique game. And the demographic that's actually playing the game doesn't really affect an obby at all, because it's not like people hacking would matter, or that there's any kind of problem players that particularly need to be kept out. and like, it's not like the developer couldn't've monetized a game any other way. Like you know, not making an obby game. Or making a good obby game with some kind of paid features like how HOURS has a DLC expansion for example. Sure, the devs need to eat, but 50 cents is practically nothing unless this game gets very popular (which it probably won't), and there're just better ways to do that. But keeping players out by making it paid access reduces the opportunities to do that.
Ye I think he misunderstood a lot in this review that the game is early access. However I never liked the idea of making early access to a game cost robux. They do need to make money though, so I don't think too badly about it if it will be free when the game is finished.
Ngl I am surprised I haven't seen anyone suggest Juke's Towers of Hell. Tower World is heavily inspired by Juke's Towers of Hell (from the looks of it). I will say JToH will not hold your hand at all, and at any moment you are at risk of losing your progress on a tower. If you decide to play it, good luck in advance. You will need it.
Personally, i think this opinion just comes from unexperienced talk, as a person that has been playing Tower obby games for quite a while, and has gone thru hours and hours of it. These criticisms are quite weird if that makes sense. First of all, i would compare Tower World more to other Tower obby games, since at this point it's pretty much a genre. (Tower obby games are for example like Juke's Towers of Hell, it's not the greatest game ever and there's a bunch of flaws i could note from it, but it's pretty nice, also a lot of the towers are made from other creators and players). i haven't played Tower World yet, and i do not think i will, so take my opinions with a grain of salt based off your review. First of all, yes i quite agree that you shouldn't manually reset everytime you fall, and it's system should be a little more polished although it is in early access. Second of all, it's early access, usually games cost robux to play early access if you want to support the game and try it out for yourself early, i do not know if Tower World will still cost robux after being finished but from my common knowledge, it will most likely be free when it's out. And again, it's early access, you shouldn't have your expectations incredibly high. The mechanics sure, i agree that the zipline and wallclimb are quite janky and should be reworked, but they seem fine alltogether. The checkpoints, tower games usually have no checkpoints, this became popular when Tower of Hell came out, although JToH came before it, ToH popularized it. The no checkpoints gimmick is meant to be frustrating and annoying, having to do the whole tower all over again from the start after almost finishing it is intentional. Now with that aside, Tower World uses checkpoints and makes it more forgiving than most tower games, and i think that's pretty nice to make the game more available and not have it be tryhard haven, i don't have much to say about this other than, i don't find the checkpoints annoying. Now, the part where you say that there's some baby easy parts you have to go through just to end up failing at a really hard part, i understand. It's important to balance your games and not have crazy difficulty spikes out of nowhere, that's just bad balancing most of the times, i agree that this is quite a flaw. The killbricks, eh i don't really have anything to say about this and i'm mostly neutral. I'm going to clarify, i am not mad and i think this is an honest review but again, it's clear that you aren't really into the obby world and that's fine, i even like your content quite a lot. Though, i think cataloguing this game as a scam is not the right move. 1:40 Yes, there are a lot of free obby alternatives. However, the majority of these obbies are of very low quality. Many of the popular ones, with the exception of Tower of Hell, are just cash grabs, and they really don't offer actually good gameplay. Obbies like "Escape from [place]", "Easy Obby", "Mega Fun Obby", or "Obby but you're on a bike" don't prioritize high-quality gameplay-they're more focused on monetizing with quick, low-effort experiences. Tower World may cost 50 Robux, but it's in early access and offers a much more polished experience than most alternatives.
All of the criticism is valid here except one which is still valid but just less. In the obby community, tower obbies usually dont even have checkpoints, so if you fall, you either save yourself or go to the very start. In the case of TW, I feel like the inclusion of checkpoints is a mistake(outside of pre bosses, but I am not paying for the game till it has more content.) and even overlooking it, I whole heartedly agree having to reset manually is dumb, they shouldve made either a button on your screen appear after you fall a decent bit(or below the checkpoint but that might cause problems) or have a button dedicated to it(by default backspace works best imo) that you can keybind freely.

And yes that already exists, it's literally the flag icon or the R button to go back to your last checkpoint instantly, eclipse never bothered to hover over the flag icon. It existed since the game was made btw

as far as i know a "tower obby" is a race to the top against other players with no checkpoints, so while it has a tower level design and it's on the game's name, Tower World isn't a "tower obby" if you get what i mean.

I think you went a little bit over the top. He is an indie dev and it isnt easy to play test the game. The price was set on the game since its an alfa. The dev doesnt want people to come to their game and not see that its early acces then leave a bad review that probably wont get corrected after release.
This is like paying extra for a bowl that's higher quality than other bowls of the same size, but when you try to eat out of it, you find that it's the same as every other bowl. This is because the manufacturers of that bowl are still working on the revolutionary design of the bowl, and once the bowl makers are done making this bowl, they'll provide these bowls for the same cost as other bowls but at an arguably higher bowl quality. Trying to eat out of the finished bowl will create a sense of completion, and since you paid for the bowl early, you may be able to look back on the original bowl and remark at how far the bowl has come.
7:10 You can't say "heh, the comments are just gonna whine about it being in alpha" when that is the reason for 90% of what you complain about. Sure they probably should have r for reset or smth before the game is out publicly but even then I just can't see how this is that big of an annoyance. Same with the playtime. It's not done. There will be more. That's how an alpha works. If the game has no new content when it fully releases then I will gladly take that back but there's no reason to assume that won't be true.

I believe the reason why it costs money as the game itself is still WIP. A lot of games that aren’t entirely finished / polished tend to charge robux in order to play. Am I saying this justifies it being a paid Roblox game, no I’m not. Though I can see in a sense why. They probably aren’t ready to fully release it but they still want people to play and give feedback. This is just MY guess though, do not take it and act like it’s factual nor it as something that justifies the game being paid for. (Also the deathbricks don’t kill you since the game that inspired this game, Jupiter’s Towers of Hell, has bricks similar to this that do damage you but don’t kill you [dealing 5 hp])
Unrelated but I highly suggest AGAINST playing JToH without prior knowledge. The game itself gets better when you progress but that doesn’t fix the problem that the starting areas are not fun for people who aren’t skilled enough to play nor rich enough to buy the tools that can make beating a tower easier and sometimes effortless (refer to the vertical mobility gamepass)

Imo the game gets difficult a bit too fast. If you've never played any real obbies it's going to take a lot of time to get better. Also, the obby movement isn't really something that you really pick up by yourself, so you're probably going to watch a bunch of guides Also, I personally kinda dislike the world system gate keeping you if you don't have enough towers. I'm just way too lazy to beat easy towers to progress into further rings/zones. Other than that, I find the game pretty fun. Also Eclipse if you do play the game typing "RNG" into the ring select menu shows you the rarity of the server (Its only cosmetic and changes every time you rejoin)
The only thing that's wrong out of all of this is that there is a respawn button built in for checkpoints, and im also mostly sure there's a setting to press r to respawn too

It's better than 99% of them. But 99% of them are worse than garbage. Honestly, the problem with Roblox, and why it sucks, is because we reward mediocrity. Mediocre is considered good, so we ask for mediocre games as the gold standard and not well, considering them what they are. Mediocre. You've got a choice to not play or pay into these games, but people do it anyway. It doesn't matter if you say it sucks to your friends, the numbers tell the devs those games are good. Personally, I don't think making it paid access is that egregious, but it's also objectively pointless, and there are better ways to monetize a game on Roblox. Especially when you consider that making it paid access just reduces opportunities to add monetization by keeping out players that, you know, could buy things. I do think that paid access can be justified if you're trying to keep out hackers or a particularly problematic demographic that'd make the game overall worse. But this is an obby game, so neither of those things are a factor. Ultimately though, you can just go on any flash game website and pick any old platformer game, and I can just about guarantee you that you'll enjoy them more. Hard work is a good quality, but it does not equate to a game that's worth playing, let alone worth paying for. Nor does better equal good.

Telling people to NOT play the game just for that reason is an extremely dick move. As for why it's 50 cents, I think the answer is pretty obvious. This paywall (if you could even call 50 cents a paywall), is and will probably be the only source of income the devs will ever receive. Tower world has a really low player count (which is expected for a fairly new game), so it's safe to say that they aren't getting payouts from premium users playing it. They played it smart by actually giving themselves a way to make money instead of waiting for Roblox to push them onto the front page. And I think most people who played it would agree that the price is actually JUSTIFIED, because you can clearly see it has so much passion put into it compared to the Tower of Hell(s) and Difficulty Chart Obbies. The absence of jank roblox mechanics and extreme difficulty is also a breath of fresh air, and it's what Roblox obbies SHOULD look like. I never thought I would have to disagree with Eclipse. Edit: Someone mentioned in the replies that the game is also in early access, all the more reason to put a price tag on it.

Maybe try jumping into it from farther away to give yourself more time to let go of space, or, I don't know, just tap it shorter. This works literally exactly the same as it does in any serious tower game (JToH, AToS, etc.), and there, I have never heard a SINGLE person complain about zipline mechanics. You can check if the player was holding jump before going onto the zipline to prevent 'buffering' the jump input onto the zipline. If you want the player to be able to buffer a jump input on ziplines, it should only account for inputs done in mid-air. I think this solution is fair because it doesn't take away from ziplines at all. I believe the ziplines must detect inputs via UserInputService and the JumpRequest event that is part of it. This is very buggy since it can fire multiple times if you hold jump for whatever reason. Also, the comments he said about checkpoints at 7:38 aren't really an issue with checkpoints when you think about it. He is really complaining about a difficulty spike, which is fair but his wording is terrible. Since I make obby related videos, I think making a constructive review of Tower World would be funny in spite of this one. 🤣

6:32 Tower games in general do not have checkpoints, the fact this one does is actually a standout feature. By nature, tower obbies are harder because of this, but it also makes it more satisfying to complete (i’d compare it to bs enemies in soulslikes). Its fine if you don’t like it but this is a core part of the experience of many tower obbies, including the ones people are recommending. If you really hate that fact, i’d recommend you don’t try to play other tower obby games because you won’t have the luxury of checkpoints, and its fine if you politely decline them

Forgot to mention, tower world has TOO MANY fail safes like, heal pads make it to easy and checkpoints should not be in towers at all. This is the reason I play JTOH, it is challenging and has stakes.

After watching this whole video, I heavily disagree with practically every point mentioned. This video lacks research on not only the game itself, but the entire obbying genre on Roblox. Very disappointing video, a lack of research is shown throughout.
Eclipse seriously has to play more obbies… A game like this would be on the highest tier of obby in Roblox, only below stuff that completely changes how the game works. The thing I really life about this game is that each tower has 3 other variants. (Technically 2 because speedrun mode just removes checkpoints adds a timer.) let’s use the lush tower as an example. Each tower has a more challenging version where damage blocks are much more frequent and there are no healing pads or checkpoints, it adds challenge to the game which I like. Then there’s the blackout modes (the sans tower’s one is replaced by quicksand.) yeah I don’t think anybody likes blackout. Plus another good things in the game is the design, I mean the building. Yeah the building is just good. Then the soundtrack is also pretty good. So what I’m saying is tower world is paid because it has all these extra features you wouldn’t expect from any other obby.

Take this as a constructive critic (and maybe share your view on it on the next DDOS, I would love that tbh) but the thing is that tower games are a REALLY niche game community. There's a community around tower obbies that has some extense historic to it, it's most face/community representative game being Juke's Tower of Hell and Tower of Hell. They are obby games just like any other (i think) but for that community I dont think it matters. They're mostly searching for innovative stuff in the gameplay of these tower games, difficulty, etc... Tower World isn't a bad game, nor a scam, it's just a REALLY niche game for a REALLY niche community on roblox. Like, I can only see people from this community paying for it, so I don't think there's a problem to it.
the game is trying to get out of being not intuitive and not beginner friendly. it is much easier to get into than most obby games with an above average skill ceiling and hopefully with time it can have difficulty progression that fits in with most platformers. never too easy to bore you, yet never too hard to frustrate you. that is one of the most important parts of making an enjoyable game that JToH fails to do. tower of hell is weird because it isn't really niche because basically everyone on roblox knows about it and it has had 100K+ players before for quite a while. there are several reasons why that game succeeds so heavily while barely receiving updates and having a bland gameplay loop, mostly tying into multiplayer and the psychology of rage games that it manages to approach better than jtoh. the main point is that obbies as a whole aren't niche but trying to expand upon the typical front page obby games brings a whole set of roadblocks that need to be conquered otherwise people (mostly younger children) will not play the game

I was also very confused as to why the death blocks even existed when I was playing through this, I never had an issue with them, and I choose to walk through them in a lot of situations for the funs. Buuttt, there is a challenge mode that significantly increased the amount of death brick obstacles, removes passive health regen and all heal bricks, making it an actual challenge especially for the towers with a boss fight. If I recall right not all towers had that particular challenge mode which saddens me as that was my favorite part of the game. also completely agree with fuck ziplines

The reason why Tower World has such a low playerbase is mostly because the game has not received basically any updates ever since it became paid access. I really don't feel like building one tower should take months even with the mechanics presented.

Parkour Legacy and Parkour Reborn both have a separate Zipline bind. In Parkour Legacy it's the Interact key (E) and can Up Movement/Jump (Space) or Down Movement (Shift) to dismantle off of them. In Parkour Reborn it's the dedicated Zipline key (F) and can Up Movement (Space) or Down Movement (Shift) to dismantle. There's no excuse for making ziplines so easy to fall off of.

Mario odyssey for example have the zipline button be the same as throwing cappy the way the game avoids accidentally using a zipline is by having the areas with ziplines have no enemies so there is no real reason to throw cappy. When eclipse uses a zipline in this game there doesn’t seem to be some imminent danger that is forcing him to jump he is just inputting many buttons at the same time

Simple answer: It’s paid access because it’s in alpha, it will become free once it gets out of its early stages. It’s currently not at its best potential because it’s in its early stages. Those who buy alpha will receive perks for when the game releases. Most of the funds made from the paid access and gamepasses goes back into the game. Paid access is needed for game developers that need robux to build a foundation upon. 👍

I don't wanna come off as overly mean, but comparing Tower World to any other obby game just really sets me off. I think paying 50 robux for a game like this is perfectly justified when looking at other Roblox obby games. Screen pop-ups, rushed obstacles, pay to win gamepasses, instakills, horrible stage design, skip stage buttons that cost more than purchasing Tower World in its entirety, you completely disregard how bad almost 90% of those other Roblox obby games are on Roblox and thus it comes off as fairly odd to me that you call this a "bad game". Finally finding an obby game with real passion and effort put into it (3 years of development), I think it's reasonable that it costs only 50 robux (about half as much as a chocolate bar). Not only does it support the developer, but it also actively helps the game's development. The game is going to be updated as development continues, like the recent addition of the sky tower. It only costs robux now because the creators most likely don't want to fully release the game to younger audiences that may not be able to enjoy the game as much without feedback from those willing to purchase the game (if you don't know already, the game is in early access). Also, I understand the game is not for everyone, and I'm sorry you had a terrible experience with it. However, I recommend looking at this game from an quality/ethics standpoint rather than your own personal subjective experience. Not everyone is going to have a good experience, sure, but does that make it a bad game? Some people like me have bought and played the game, and have genuinely enjoyed it!

Note that i'm saying this from my PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF PLAYING THIS GAME
First of all, this game took me about roughly the same amount of time as you to finish, an hour 30 minutes to maybe an hour 45, not that much time, but one thing though, is that throughout most of it, I completely enjoyed my time playing it. Now I know what you're saying, it's a paid game, so you're expecting a higher standard of quality. That's perfectly reasonable, however I believe it's also perfectly reasonable to say it does have a higher standard of quality than the AVERAGE OBBY GAME. Sure it's not a masterpiece like Deepwoken or something like that, but when comparing it to the average obby game which costs 0 to play, but is filled with stuff like "nuke everyone for 500 robux" and "Skip stage for 90 robux" buttons, for 90% of stages that are extremely low effort and soulless rainbow bricks. I personally think that this game is completely fine for it's relatively cheap price cost (reminder that most paid access games cost average between 200-500 robux) and an enjoyable time. Sure it has it's problem but it's in early access, some problems which didn't completely kill my experience (they can get annoying sometimes but it never really became a problem for me). I think it's a perfectly fine game.
The problem was that u can play just like this in other obby games, yes, maybe not most but there are other games that are the same if not better. I actually can't believe you are using this as an argument. This is CLEARLY by design. That's the entire point of tower games (like Tower of hell, Jukes tower of hell), when you fall - you might have to start from the beggining.
I think the point of paying 50 cents to play this game, is to not experience another obby, but to experience how said creators made the obby. Similar to how there are millions of bowls out there, some cost more than others but they all have the same functionality. But, the higher priced bowl is more fancy and most likely will last longer due to expensive materials.
tower world is like investing your money into a promising stock, chances are it's just gonna keep getting better and better as development continues, eventually to the point of them making it free

But even then, the barrier to entry isn't necessarily 50 cents, but just buying Robux in general, which not everyone on Roblox can or will do. Given, you know, it's either kids or people who don't see much of a reason to do that in general. Especially given the amount of games that have in-game character customization anyway.

And the demographic that's actually playing the game doesn't really affect an obby at all, because it's not like people hacking would matter, or that there's any kind of problem players that particularly need to be kept out.
and like, it's not like the developer couldn't've monetized a game any other way. Like you know, not making an obby game. Or making a good obby game with some kind of paid features like how HOURS has a DLC expansion for example. Sure, the devs need to eat, but 50 cents is practically nothing unless this game gets very popular (which it probably won't), and there're just better ways to do that. But keeping players out by making it paid access reduces the opportunities to do that.

Ngl I am surprised I haven't seen anyone suggest Juke's Towers of Hell. Tower World is heavily inspired by Juke's Towers of Hell (from the looks of it). I will say JToH will not hold your hand at all, and at any moment you are at risk of losing your progress on a tower. If you decide to play it, good luck in advance. You will need it.

Personally, i think this opinion just comes from unexperienced talk, as a person that has been playing Tower obby games for quite a while, and has gone thru hours and hours of it. These criticisms are quite weird if that makes sense.
First of all, i would compare Tower World more to other Tower obby games, since at this point it's pretty much a genre. (Tower obby games are for example like Juke's Towers of Hell, it's not the greatest game ever and there's a bunch of flaws i could note from it, but it's pretty nice, also a lot of the towers are made from other creators and players).
i haven't played Tower World yet, and i do not think i will, so take my opinions with a grain of salt based off your review.
First of all, yes i quite agree that you shouldn't manually reset everytime you fall, and it's system should be a little more polished although it is in early access.
Second of all, it's early access, usually games cost robux to play early access if you want to support the game and try it out for yourself early, i do not know if Tower World will still cost robux after being finished but from my common knowledge, it will most likely be free when it's out. And again, it's early access, you shouldn't have your expectations incredibly high.
The mechanics sure, i agree that the zipline and wallclimb are quite janky and should be reworked, but they seem fine alltogether.
The checkpoints, tower games usually have no checkpoints, this became popular when Tower of Hell came out, although JToH came before it, ToH popularized it.
The no checkpoints gimmick is meant to be frustrating and annoying, having to do the whole tower all over again from the start after almost finishing it is intentional.
Now with that aside, Tower World uses checkpoints and makes it more forgiving than most tower games, and i think that's pretty nice to make the game more available and not have it be tryhard haven, i don't have much to say about this other than, i don't find the checkpoints annoying.
Now, the part where you say that there's some baby easy parts you have to go through just to end up failing at a really hard part, i understand.
It's important to balance your games and not have crazy difficulty spikes out of nowhere, that's just bad balancing most of the times, i agree that this is quite a flaw.

I'm going to clarify, i am not mad and i think this is an honest review but again, it's clear that you aren't really into the obby world and that's fine, i even like your content quite a lot.

1:40 Yes, there are a lot of free obby alternatives. However, the majority of these obbies are of very low quality. Many of the popular ones, with the exception of Tower of Hell, are just cash grabs, and they really don't offer actually good gameplay. Obbies like "Escape from [place]", "Easy Obby", "Mega Fun Obby", or "Obby but you're on a bike" don't prioritize high-quality gameplay-they're more focused on monetizing with quick, low-effort experiences. Tower World may cost 50 Robux, but it's in early access and offers a much more polished experience than most alternatives.
All of the criticism is valid here except one which is still valid but just less.
In the obby community, tower obbies usually dont even have checkpoints, so if you fall, you either save yourself or go to the very start.
In the case of TW, I feel like the inclusion of checkpoints is a mistake(outside of pre bosses, but I am not paying for the game till it has more content.) and even overlooking it, I whole heartedly agree having to reset manually is dumb, they shouldve made either a button on your screen appear after you fall a decent bit(or below the checkpoint but that might cause problems) or have a button dedicated to it(by default backspace works best imo) that you can keybind freely.

Trying to eat out of the finished bowl will create a sense of completion, and since you paid for the bowl early, you may be able to look back on the original bowl and remark at how far the bowl has come.

Sure they probably should have r for reset or smth before the game is out publicly but even then I just can't see how this is that big of an annoyance. Same with the playtime. It's not done. I believe the reason why it costs money as the game itself is still WIP. A lot of games that aren’t entirely finished / polished tend to charge robux in order to play.
Am I saying this justifies it being a paid Roblox game, no I’m not. Though I can see in a sense why. They probably aren’t ready to fully release it but they still want people to play and give feedback.
This is just MY guess though, do not take it and act like it’s factual nor it as something that justifies the game being paid for.
(Also the deathbricks don’t kill you since the game that inspired this game, Jupiter’s Towers of Hell, has bricks similar to this that do damage you but don’t kill you [dealing 5 hp])
Unrelated but I highly suggest AGAINST playing JToH without prior knowledge. The game itself gets better when you progress but that doesn’t fix the problem that the starting areas are not fun for people who aren’t skilled enough to play nor rich enough to buy the tools that can make beating a tower easier and sometimes effortless (refer to the vertical mobility gamepass)

Imo the game gets difficult a bit too fast. If you've never played any real obbies it's going to take a lot of time to get better. Also, the obby movement isn't really something that you really pick up by yourself, so you're probably going to watch a bunch of guides
Also, I personally kinda dislike the world system gate keeping you if you don't have enough towers. I'm just way too lazy to beat easy towers to progress into further rings/zones.
Other than that, I find the game pretty fun.
Also Eclipse if you do play the game typing "RNG" into the ring select menu shows you the rarity of the server (Its only cosmetic and changes every time you rejoin)

Honestly, the problem with Roblox, and why it sucks, is because we reward mediocrity. Mediocre is considered good, so we ask for mediocre games as the gold standard and not well, considering them what they are. Mediocre. You've got a choice to not play or pay into these games, but people do it anyway. It doesn't matter if you say it sucks to your friends, the numbers tell the devs those games are good.
Personally, I don't think making it paid access is that egregious, but it's also objectively pointless, and there are better ways to monetize a game on Roblox. Especially when you consider that making it paid access just reduces opportunities to add monetization by keeping out players that, you know, could buy things. I do think that paid access can be justified if you're trying to keep out hackers or a particularly problematic demographic that'd make the game overall worse. But this is an obby game, so neither of those things are a factor.
Ultimately though, you can just go on any flash game website and pick any old platformer game, and I can just about guarantee you that you'll enjoy them more. Hard work is a good quality, but it does not equate to a game that's worth playing, let alone worth paying for. Nor does better equal good.

So what you're saying, is that this game would've received PRAISE if it was 50 cents less? I'm sorry, but that's bullshit. It doesn't deserve this hate. Telling people to NOT play the game just for that reason is an extremely dick move. As for why it's 50 cents, I think the answer is pretty obvious. This paywall (if you could even call 50 cents a paywall), is and will probably be the only source of income the devs will ever receive. Tower world has a really low player count (which is expected for a fairly new game), so it's safe to say that they aren't getting payouts from premium users playing it. They played it smart by actually giving themselves a way to make money instead of waiting for Roblox to push them onto the front page. And I think most people who played it would agree that the price is actually JUSTIFIED, because you can clearly see it has so much passion put into it compared to the Tower of Hell(s) and Difficulty Chart Obbies. The absence of jank roblox mechanics and extreme difficulty is also a breath of fresh air, and it's what Roblox obbies SHOULD look like. I never thought I would have to disagree with Eclipse.
Edit: Someone mentioned in the replies that the game is also in early access, all the more reason to put a price tag on it.

Pick a different random key to dismount, complicating the controls and making them instantly more unintuitive? I'd think to *jump* off of a zipline, you'd want to use the *jump* key, right? The part I do understand is the whole "when I jump into the zipline and I'm still holding space, I jump off of the zipline!!!1!" And, well, to that I say, "skill issue." Maybe try jumping into it from farther away to give yourself more time to let go of space, or, I don't know, just tap it shorter. This works literally exactly the same as it does in any serious tower game (JToH, AToS, etc.), and there, I have never heard a SINGLE person complain about zipline mechanics.
Side note: "and fall all the way down the fucking tower" (5:00) - Buddy, there are checkpoints. If you can't handle having to go back to the last checkpoint in Tower World, let me save you some time - NEVER EVER TOUCH JUKE'S TOWERS OF HELL. It's good, but definitely not your cup of tea, as it has NO checkpoints and your ability to keep progress depends on how well you're able to catch on previous obstacles. (I'd love to watch you try it, though!)
Gliding (or Wall Climbing as the game calls it) (5:10) - Your entire qualm with this is just a skill issue, plain and simple. I never once fell off of one, and watching your gameplay, you're just not turning enough. Directly face the wall, it's not that hard.

Designed to be easy and forgiving if you fail them, you know, for people who are bad at the game. Even JToH, the brutally punishing game that it is, only uses instant kills in the top half of its difficulty range. You can't say you've experienced generic front page obbies until you've jumped over kill bricks on the ground, thought you made it, and then died anyway at least a few tens of times. Not trying to gatekeep or anything, just speaking from experience. Nothing makes an obby more infuriating for me than things that will instantly kill me if I even scratch the side of them in obbies that otherwise don't feel challenging at all.
TL;DR: *The game is trying to be beginner-friendly. Maybe trying a little too hard, but it's good to introduce mechanics in a harmless way first before you REALLY start using them, right?*

Your response-to-the-response is actually really good too, thank you for being civil about it. I still stand by what I said here, but you recovered really, really well.
You can check if the player was holding jump before going onto the zipline to prevent 'buffering' the jump input onto the zipline. If you want the player to be able to buffer a jump input on ziplines, it should only account for inputs done in mid-air.
I think this solution is fair because it doesn't take away from ziplines at all. I believe the ziplines must detect inputs via UserInputService and the JumpRequest event that is part of it. This is very buggy since it can fire multiple times if you hold jump for whatever reason. You can simply detect for the player's space bar, jump button or A button input, depending on the device they are on.
Also, the comments he said about checkpoints at 7:38 aren't really an issue with checkpoints when you think about it. He is really complaining about a difficulty spike, which is fair but his wording is terrible.
Since I make obby related videos, I think making a constructive review of Tower World would be funny in spite of this one. 🤣

6:32 Tower games in general do not have checkpoints, the fact this one does is actually a standout feature. By nature, tower obbies are harder because of this, but it also makes it more satisfying to complete (i’d compare it to bs enemies in soulslikes). Its fine if you don’t like it but this is a core part of the experience of many tower obbies, including the ones people are recommending. If you really hate that fact, i’d recommend you don’t try to play other tower obby games because you won’t have the luxury of checkpoints, and its fine if you politely decline them

Forgot to mention, tower world has TOO MANY fail safes like, heal pads make it to easy and checkpoints should not be in towers at all. This is the reason I play JTOH, it is challenging and has stakes.

I guess eclipse is not familiar with the jtoh fandom or obbies overall. Tower World is clearly inspired by it and it's for a certain demographic of obbiests. It's extremely good for 50 robux in my opinion. Great parkour mechanics, settings, and a fun time for tower enthusiasts.

After watching this whole video, I heavily disagree with practically every point mentioned. This video lacks research on not only the game itself, but the entire obbying genre on Roblox. Very disappointing video, a lack of research is shown throughout.

Eclipse seriously has to play more obbies… A game like this would be on the highest tier of obby in Roblox, only below stuff that completely changes how the game works. Most obby games are dogshit, some others are horrible cash grabs that spam you with ads, and the last few are a bit higher quality but have nothing unique and are made for children. An obby game like this in Roblox is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, which warrants the 50 robux entry cost.

@@commanderdemonno9819I mean I agree with the other 2 it’s a good game that I would personally buy but Deepwoken is a bad analogy. It’s a finished game with constant updates and good combat (though that’s subjective) and is pretty deep in terms of lore, mechanics, spells, etc.
I don't really care that it's 50 robux, I just care that it's payed entry. Unlike itch or steam, you have to spend at minimum 5 dollars to get the game, but only actually spend 50 cents of that. The rest is currency that's on your account. So unless you already had other things in mind, or you had some leftover robux, your just wasting money (I mean it's not a lot but still)

The thing I really life about this game is that each tower has 3 other variants. (Technically 2 because speedrun mode just removes checkpoints adds a timer.) let’s use the lush tower as an example. Each tower has a more challenging version where damage blocks are much more frequent and there are no healing pads or checkpoints, it adds challenge to the game which I like. Then there’s the blackout modes (the sans tower’s one is replaced by quicksand.) yeah I don’t think anybody likes blackout. Plus another good things in the game is the design, I mean the building. Yeah the building is just good. Then the soundtrack is also pretty good. So what I’m saying is tower world is paid because it has all these extra features you wouldn’t expect from any other obby.
Couldn't be bothered to watch the rest of the video because I genuinely feel like you're fetching on thin straws. The game has an interesting concept, is visually appealing, and clearly has more effort put into it than most other obbies, without bombarding players with endless pop-ups. I don't see why we're labeling games as scams just because they charge 50 cents to recoup some of the development costs.

A few things eclipse forgot/didn’t go over well enough:
1. This is early access
2. This game is being constantly updated
3. Forgot to mention the lobby
4. There’s a mode for harder death blocks
5. Not all paid games are the same, we have trash ones like block tube and better ones like deepwoken.
6. This is only 50 cents
7. This is an extremely high quality roblox obby game
8. He didn’t mention cosmetics

Take this as a constructive critic (and maybe share your view on it on the next DDOS, I would love that tbh) but the thing is that tower games are a REALLY niche game community.
There's a community around tower obbies that has some extense historic to it, it's most face/community representative game being Juke's Tower of Hell and Tower of Hell. They are obby games just like any other (i think) but for that community I dont think it matters. They're mostly searching for innovative stuff in the gameplay of these tower games, difficulty, etc...
Tower World isn't a bad game, nor a scam, it's just a REALLY niche game for a REALLY niche community on roblox. Like, I can only see people from this community paying for it, so I don't think there's a problem to it.
the game is trying to get out of being not intuitive and not beginner friendly. it is much easier to get into than most obby games with an above average skill ceiling and hopefully with time it can have difficulty progression that fits in with most platformers. never too easy to bore you, yet never too hard to frustrate you. that is one of the most important parts of making an enjoyable game that JToH fails to do.
tower of hell is weird because it isn't really niche because basically everyone on roblox knows about it and it has had 100K+ players before for quite a while. there are several reasons why that game succeeds so heavily while barely receiving updates and having a bland gameplay loop, mostly tying into multiplayer and the psychology of rage games that it manages to approach better than jtoh.
the main point is that obbies as a whole aren't niche but trying to expand upon the typical front page obby games brings a whole set of roadblocks that need to be conquered otherwise people (mostly younger children) will not play the game

I was also very confused as to why the death blocks even existed when I was playing through this, I never had an issue with them, and I choose to walk through them in a lot of situations for the funs.
Buuttt, there is a challenge mode that significantly increased the amount of death brick obstacles, removes passive health regen and all heal bricks, making it an actual challenge especially for the towers with a boss fight. If I recall right not all towers had that particular challenge mode which saddens me as that was my favorite part of the game.

The reason why Tower World has such a low playerbase is mostly because the game has not received basically any updates ever since it became paid access. I really don't feel like building one tower should take months even with the mechanics presented.

here's why. All the other obby games suck dick. It's not that hard to understand.
You could play probably 70% of the "millions" of obby games and not find a single one that even has moving platforms, let alone collectibles and actual gameplay to it besides lackluster obby slop and popup ads. This game has gameplay. There's shit to do besides hold space and w. There's collectibles, different modes you can play each tower on, and there's three bosses that are creative and, in my opinion, pretty fun to fight, even if it's just a platformer boss.
this game is different than every other tower/platforming game on roblox in that it actually has meaningful content and replayability. 50 robux for a PAID EARLY ACCESS, not even for the final game, is completely understandable and I don't understand your problem with it.

Parkour Legacy and Parkour Reborn both have a separate Zipline bind.
In Parkour Legacy it's the Interact key (E) and can Up Movement/Jump (Space) or Down Movement (Shift) to dismantle off of them.
In Parkour Reborn it's the dedicated Zipline key (F) and can Up Movement (Space) or Down Movement (Shift) to dismantle.
There's no excuse for making ziplines so easy to fall off of.
@@MonochromeAlex i do agree with you for the most part but do remember that many platformers ( non roblox platformers ) do the same. Mario odyssey for example have the zipline button be the same as throwing cappy the way the game avoids accidentally using a zipline is by having the areas with ziplines have no enemies so there is no real reason to throw cappy. When eclipse uses a zipline in this game there doesn’t seem to be some imminent danger that is forcing him to jump he is just inputting many buttons at the same time
