Even though I have lived in the UK for years, I still stumble on new experiences! In watching Amazon’s “Clarkson’s Farm” I found out that a tractor run was a farming thing/tradition at Christmas.
A what? I know… for all you non-farmers a tractor run is where all the local farmers decorate their tractors for Christmas and then drive around the neighbouring villages, towns, and cities. If you’ve been following my videos, you’ll know that I enjoy filming a night to capture light.
When I discovered that the farming community in Arundel was planning a tractor run I was in!
It was the first ever illuminated tractor run in Arundel. Each tractor entered paid a fee to join in the fun. All money raised was given to their chosen charity Chestnut Tree Hospice at Angmering. The tractor run also stopped at the hospice so that Santa could deliver gifts to the children there.

This event saw the streets of Arundel full of people, the farmer raised OVER 6000 GBP for the hospice. A total of 70 tractors (farmers) participated in this well-organized event.
It was such fun to see the tractors all light up and a beautiful way to create festive feelings. I also thought it was a great way to help make invisible work more visible. These farmers work hard in isolation to help feed many people, but the work they do is often under-appreciated. Looking forward to seeing this event again next year.
Filming notes: I am impressed with how well my DJI pocket 3 handled these very challenging filming conditions (both lighting and sound). Even though I edited out my over excited exclamations about the lights and tractors, without the using a separate mic it picked up both my and my husband’s voices clearly even with the loud tractor engines (NOT sponsored).
